- This video provides step-by-step instructions on how to properly crimp TE Connectivity's DEUTSCH industrial contacts using hand tools. Crimping instructions for solid contacts, stamped and formed contacts, and Quick Connect Series contacts are given. A tutorial on how to tell if a crimp is acceptable or unacceptable is also provided.
For solid contacts, the HDT-48-00 is shown.
For stamped and formed contacts, the DTT-16-00 is shown.
For Quick Connect Series contacts, the AF8-TH163 is shown.

Can I crimp it with something other than the special crimper?
Can the stamped & formed terminals be crimped using regular open barrel crimp tools such as Klein Tools VDV200-010, or does it have to be done with the DTT-16-00 tool shown in the video?

Can these same crimpers be used for female deutsch pins?
the way that the ratcheting crimpers will not release until the full crimp is made i think is a way that the hanging chad and dimpling could be eliminated in the older style voting machines.
Poor business plan to sell a system where the crimper is $299. The average garage or home DIY isn't going to use this system or crimper. makes no sense to me.

Your average homeowner or even electrician does not need crimps of this quality. These are for automotive, mobile equipment, aircraft and military applications.
Yeah I think you have slightly missed the point of their products.
For average home DIY user, there are cheap alternatives for sporadic use. I got one from ebay for 26 dls .
@@flspeid My comment was made a year ago. Price was $299 US at that time. Good for you to get them at $26.00 . Seems like a reasonable price to me.
