@onejillion Yes, when making turns, especially right turns, you have to shift your weight into the turn to avoid lifting up a wheel. If you don't, you could flip the rig. It was a blast. Both my wife and I enjoyed it.

It looked like you had to shift your body weight to the right to keep it from coming off the ground, in a turn. Great vid!! Looked like fun!

@gogosor thanks! Nope don't use it like that. It's not really a stunt. It's good to practice because it happens when you take a right turn to quickly (or in the UK a left turn too quickly - sidecars on the other side over the pond). To me, it's a safety thing like learning to quickstop. If you turn to sharp, and it flies up and you aren't comfortable with it. you'll try to straighten out and crash into something.

I had a jerk tailgating with his brights on late one night on a rural highway. I lifted the car and red lights on the roof of the car came on. I pulled over and was confronted with 2 deputies accusing me of reckless driving.. When I asked them when it became illegal to ride a motorcycle on 2 wheels, showing them how pushing down on the left handlebar grip on my R75-5 would lift the light Velorex sidecar. I flew the chair because I was blinded by the reflection bright lights on my windshield.

@RC62 Thanks! Sidecars are quite a bit of fun.

I was thinking about you while riding the other day. You might also consider going to a parking lot and practicing flying the chair by making right turns (circles are easiest). Then learn to make turns with the chair in the air, so should it happen again, you can stay on the road and in control.

Listen to those loud valves tapping in that Ural. I really want to have a Patrol T!!!

I'm glad you were ok. Next time follow an outside-inside-outside path of travel, get your weight over to the right by hanging off almost into the sidecar. no more than one cheek on the seat. Roll on the throttle a bit less as well. It might be good to go back to that ramp and try it a few times.

@EverydayRiding Well if I save a little more I will get the Patrol. The price is very close. Even the T looks nice, but I am leaning to getting the 2wd.

@hawaiisidecar Ural is pretty easy. I found the HD quite hard! I had to hang off the outside to get the chair up.

@MrBoo88 2wd is handy to have if you need it.

I am hoping to take a sidecar course in a few months with my Ural. Trying to decide between beginner and advanced class. I've been riding motorcycles for decades. But only riding a sidecar outfit for a few months but I definitely feel pretty confident riding on the street. I want to master high speed braking, swerving, and also low speed maneuvers and flying the chair of course. I am leaning towards the advanced course. I dont want to be bored for hours with a bunch of canam newbies learning how motorcycles work, any thoughts?

I must say that is impressive, do you ever use "Flying the Chair" to get car drivers that are to close off your tail :)
