    I would love to see a Holland guide from someone that actually steals Burgundy's personal unions. The transfer subject age ability basically gives you Flanders and Brabant for free at that point, yet every guide I have every seen anyone do, they manually conquer those nations and the AE is outrageous. I always take transfer subject age ability first, and THEN the lowered AE. It's just so good. Plus, Holland is my favorite nation to play, so I'd love to see if you can teach me something new.

      I don't understand it either... conquer northwards after the war & feed France the French regions of Burgundy while taking the Vassals for half cost.

    • @Venslor
      @Venslor ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nationalsocialism3504 Exactly. Half the cost means 50% less AE. That 10% ae reduction is freaking NOTHING compared to that.
      Then, my first war is against Utrecht and I'm spying during my independence war. I take the province under Friesland and humiliate them for the age ability. I start getting friendly with Flanders, in case their province gets Renaissance before Amsterdam, and I dev Amsterdam to 30 after the Renaissance spawns. If you do it this way, I really don't take vassals in the north. I full annex Friesland and eventually diplo-vassalize Oost-Friesland.

    • @nationalsocialism3504
      @nationalsocialism3504 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Venslor my go-to is Gelre for the Province/Humiliate cause both provinces from Friesland can be taken... but the Humiliate Rival is such an important Age Objective that I pick up the limburg province after taking Barbant as a vassal. Nobody ever does the merchants in Lubeck/Rhineland (Champagne after the third from national ideas) Improve Communities for the +15% either to help burn off AE. It's fairly easy to have all the Low Country in under 50 years with minimal coalitions forming & none in any serious danger of firing with France/Austria as allies.
      I have a fairly strong Dutch game going right now but Infrastructure isn't as good as I wanted it to be and Plutocractic is actually worse than Aristocratic under the Dutch Government & policy wise.

      Yeah, but integration uses diplo mana instead of that super-valuable early-game admin mana. Plus subjects come with some other benefits too!! Having a subject saves a lot of money in those early wars from fort occupations. Plus, If you subjugate them and then integrate, you also get to keep their boats and troops which is nice. In your first war: I think you can also call Cologne etc. with "promise" land. If I remember it right they will not lose any trust since you can't demand any provinces for them anyways.
    I always mark all provinces, except one, as vital interest so even in worst case they do not occupy all of it. Brandenburg doesn't have starting mil ideas, and the Infantry Combat Ability helps right away, and stacks nicely with Brandenberg's 10% ICA. Inno gives great tech and advisors, and the 15% ICA stacks even more. Econ + Quality is also pretty good tho!

    A few alterations to this guide can make Brandenburg even more OP:
    1. same opening moves except we take Kolberg and Stolp when making Wolgast a vassal and we always delete our forts to have lots of moneys. Berlin will only need a fort after the mission that gives +1 admin. Forts are expensive and the AI has a harder time handling an invasion in a fortless country. It confuses the code.
    2. We need Polish-Lithuania as an ally to invade Muscovy so liberate Danzig and annex all of East Prussia from the Teutons. Poland is coded to be aggressive for West Prussia. During the war, start spying on Livonia and peace them out with a break alliance on the Teutons ASAP. Change trading city to Kolberg when possible. Warn Danzig and Teutons not to attack your neighbors.
    For as long as the alliance with Poland is needed, keep attacking the Teutons on truce ends by calling Poland in and peace them out for money and prestige.
    3. Third war is against Livonia who is nicely allied with Riga. Annex both of them entirely. Now we have a strong trading base in the Baltic and can rake in massive profits.
    4. At any point, become Emperor and start working on getting Burgundy. Break the alliance with Austria once Bohemia is weak, when becoming protestant later Austria has the best chance of becoming the new emperor. Break alliance with Poland once Muscovy is weak, than invade Poland when convenient.
    5. When convenient invade Stettin, feed Wolgast the province of Stettin and take the other. If they allied Poland, wait until declaring on Muscovy and calling in Poland.
    6. Keep invading Muscovy + Novgorod + Sweden + Denmark every time we can. Keep calling in Poland to help you out. The goal is taking control of the Baltic trade node first, than the Lübeck node and all nodes feeding into them. Change trading city to Lübeck when in control of the node. Endgame is to take the English channel node and feed it all of Europe + America.
    7. The intra HRE strategy is to wipe out the other electors to stay Emperor for ever. And using any spare AE to take over the Lübeck node. As electors start disappearing, we won't need to mind the AE as much. Too much AE with the Electors and they won't vote for useven with a +200 relation. One elector must be protestant for the Religious leagues to fire so we will make sure not to wipe that special one until after the war.
    8. When Religious leagues fires, become protestant, take control of the league and declare war on the new emperor even if it truce breaks. Don't form Prussia yet as it will wreck your army and economy even harder due to loosing all the governing capacity modifiers and getting a -20% from being Prussia since the country exceeds 1000 dev at this point. In the peace, make Protestantism the official Religion, become Emperor and than form Prussia.
    9. When invading colonizers, leave them strong enough that their colonies don't rebel. Take as much colonial land from them as possible in repeated wars. The AI is very willing to give massive amounts of colonial land for little war score when their home provinces are occupied. If the colonies were independent, we couldn't take as much land even with a +100 war score. Colonial land doesn't give Overextension, only 5 low cost provinces need to be cored to form a very loyal colony and we won't need to send any soldiers ever or do any colonizing ourselves.

    Thank you for your review/walkthrough. It delivers - perhaps not really intended - the very enlightening message of how far this game is set apart from historic reality.
    You don't care about the evolution of the cornerstornes of Prussian culture - religous and ethnic tolerance, incorruptible bureaucracy, academies of science and a military capable to defend a country in the middle of Europe (alias: "the deathspell of the central position"; Players of "Risk" know by heart what I try to highlight here).
    Instead, you simply become a steamroller backed by one diplomatic clou - you enter an alliance with one "big brother" like Austria, Bohemia or Poland. Then the rise of Prussia - originally known as the dust bin of Germany - over 450 years becomes an endless campaigning across Europe requiring only some decades.
    I wonder if the game designers - by creating this parody of history - actually tried to prolong the long refuted myth that Prussia was something like the warmonger of Europe. In fact, UK, France and Russia had fought a lot more wars than Prussia/Germany.

Old militarization had good code and allowed you to keep everything if you were germany

    • @Thomashy19
      @Thomashy19 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@afridge8608 im exactly asking to keep larping. the prussia tree has way more flavor and gives you stuff to claim all of germany and has very cool internal focused missions, the german missions by comparison are very flavorless and designed to be ultra late game economic stuff that gives modifiers that dont matter at all and the claims are just broad claims on entire regions around germany (not very good larp). I was saying that the only time it would be fun to form germany is after you complete the prussia tree.
      Obviously the militarization thing is a bug but until they fix it why would you not play with the most interesting mechanic prussia has, its better larp than not having it.

      @@INSANESUICIDE @Infidi I'm going to be a bit more specific here.
      Essentially every estate has a Land Share Equilibrium, and whenever yo tou take new provinces you move towards that equilibrium point. You'll move toward those equilibrium points faster the amount of development your country is growing by (relative to the previous size of your country).
      That Equilibrium point is the Influence of that particular Estate divided by the the sum of all the the Influences of the Estates (And for this purpose the Crown is treated as if it is an estate, and it's influence is defined as 60+Absolutism).
      Essentially what this means is that if you keep your estate influences quite low (so basically just take the mana privileges), when you conquer new provinces in your starting wars you'll gain back Crownlands very quickly. This is more effective the smaller your nation is to begin with.
      If I know I'll be able to have a couple early wars of conquest I like to stay at that really low influence set-up until my Crownlands are back to at least 20%, or after like 10 years or so -- after which you can go back to a normal high influence high loyalty set-up until Absolutism comes in.

    It seems your guides are way too soft (not enough aggressive expansion) for the more advanced players while your guides are not even eligible for new beginners.
    Not enought depth to why certain choices have been made, not enough clarity about certain decisions, no definitive main goal from the start, no alternative for certain RNG which is always very random...
    There's many different guides to find with more depth/clarity, definitive main goal etc for this patch of the game.
    Good luck with your subscribers

    I recommend getting espionage a your first idea, they have a decrease aggressive expansion idea, so you will be allowed to expand a lot quicker with it and can be stacked up with other modifiers to rapidly decrease aggressive expansion, which includes “establish communities” trade policy, the improves relationships advisor, if possible the sanction dynasty papal action (and if can the get the one in a million chance of becoming the papal controller), and anything else that can help boost the improve relations modifier.

      @@brandonlyon730 yeah if you wait 20 years you have enouh favors to attack denmark... cant have wolgast as a collaterate target or austria wont help... basically if wolgast has a strong allie you should restart cause you loose all the momentum. its like portugals explorer dieing in thje first 10 years... you can do it... but you basically waste 20 years at the start of the game

    • @brandonlyon730
      @brandonlyon730 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can curry favors with Allie’s and with that you can easily get enough favors after a few years. As long as Austria isn’t at war with anyone or in major debt they will gleefully join your wars.

      @drchaos2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandonlyon730 as long as austria is the emperor they will not ever join a war against a member of the HRE... mind that denmark isnt the maingoal here.. but wolgast is... so staring a war against denmark to have wolgast as a non co beligerent you are back at square one. basically yes the situation is savagable... but you could also just release ruppin and form prussia as ruppin. is it possible ? yes of course... its not even hard... but its tedious and makes a thing that should take 5 years take 40 years

    I think the timed Franconian mission can be fairly easy if happens when you're the emperor and AE is manageable. The problem is that the way that makes the most sense to get it is that you're stuck with the crappy and likely old Albrecht Achilles for a while. Two of the provinces being Free Cities is a pain and you could spend IA to revoke, but you don't have to take them (maybe take Nuremburg though since it's required to form Germany) since you or your subjects only need 6 provinces in Franconia to complete the mission. Maybe you can get lucky and vassalize Wurzburg and just take Aschaffenburg from Mainz and Coburg from Thuringia. I was even able to still get the Dispositio Achillea later after completing the mission lol. I just revassalized Ansbach later and gave them my other Franconian provinces. Ansbach/Bayreuth actually have pretty good national ideas so while they suck as an OPM PU taking up a slot for 50 years, as vassal that you can integrate whenever, they're pretty good. Also a funny thing is if you fail the mission, your provinces/PUs down there get released as the Franconia formable.
