I worked with Mr. Moore on his last outing as 007 in A VIEW TO A KILL. He was the consummate professional and a terrifically nice guy. Barbara Broccoli is truly a fantastic person and producer. I owe her much. Rest easy, Sir Roger. They broke the mold with you. D.A.
Well said. I never heard any say anything negative about him, and was fortunate enough to meet him a couple times. Cynics have said, "Never meet your heroes", and I completely disagree with that view. Just an amazing amount of patience, and knew how to handle stardom by being kind and generous to his fans. He represents a generation of actors who people could look up to and admire. I agree that they broke the mold with him!
@urbanyouths Amigo ... I was a lowly Location Scout and Assistant Location Manager on the San Francisco scenes. Not that I need to prove anything to someone who wasn't there 40 years ago. Have a nice life.
I've heard Harry Saltzman say Roger Moore was the Bond he wanted for Dr No Roger Moore without doubt the nicest most gentlemanly Bond actor of all time I doubt we will ever see a Bond like Sir Roger again.
I only saw Roger once in the flesh and that was in '94 when I was working in maintenance at a large fashion store in Knightbride. I was right by one of the entrances and he approached from the outside. I never took a glance at who it was and just opened the door for him, as you would. He then said, 'thank you, you're very kind'. I thought, I know that voice and immediately looked at this smart imposing figure before me. He then casually strode through the handbag section to eventually being out of site.
According to one article I’ve read, Roger Moore was Ian Fleming’s original choice to play Bond. However, he was making “The Saint” and couldn’t get out of it to make “Dr. No,” so Sean Connery got the part.
It's od dhow its mentioned fans are here, yet they know very little about whats going on in the bond world ? Nice to see roger moore interview though not seen before
Thank you all for toning down the buffoonery to show due respect to a legend. Unfortunately we have few role models in the US to show young men what a gentleman looks or acts like. I appreciate you guys not shaming America in the eyes of a true gentleman.
Sir Roger Moore KBE remains unquestionably the greatest Bond...because he took the piss, a true dapper gent, but also could dispatch the enemy with a cold English ruthlessness that only those who have come up against HMG would know. Few other Bonds are Knighted, none came close to KBE. Moore, Roger Moore.
They could have at least done a bit of research beforehand. I grew up watching Roger's stuff on TV from The Saint and The Persuaders, I've always been a fan really and was thrilled when he took on 007. One of my favourite films of Roger's from about 1970 is The Man Who Haunted Himself.
@mlzema. Actually, Ian Fleming's original choice to play James Bond was David Niven. Then he thought that Cary Grant would make an excellent Bond but Grant turned down the role because Grant felt that he was too old for the role of Bond.
18:30 - wow I am not even the biggest Opie hater, but this is Opie’s first comment of the interview. I really thought he was out this day. Pathetic he got paid the same as Cumia.
It's unnerving to watch a bunch of idiots asking clueless questions to such a legend as Roger Moore. If I were the one to do the asking, I would have asked way more interesting questions.
If one of them at least had been really familiar with his work and the Bond history, Roger could have saved time in order to tell more interesting stories. So he had to educate them about stuff the average Moore fan already knows („Sea Wolves“ is just one example). Sir Roger was typically kind and patient with that mostly ignorant crew. The soundman could have turned up his mic, too, as Roger was not as close to his mic as the others and raising it towards him didn‘t help much. Overall, amateur hour.

After watching the entire interview I definitely agree with you. Only because I really wanted to hear what Roger was saying. Was Roger Moore the "biggest"/most acclaimed actor O&A ever had in the studio?
this guy didn't know nothing about Bong movies. he even didn't know who was after RM and who was anther producer, and then still he interviewed RM. do your homework!

Roger is the coolest. Loved also hearing him talking about Bond and meeting the Queen.
Thanks for the memories Sir Roger Moore 🌹🙏

The host is the one who need the dummy, looks like a vile character. Roger Moore too classy.

Couldn't have put it better. If Roger didn't fire his agent for booking this then he should have.

Great interview Sir Roger Roger what a shame he is not with us anymore 😢
The recent Roger Moore documentary is very good , he was my Bond as I grew up in the 70s and 80s , Rest in Peace Sir Rog … Legend !!
Lovely interview of a very witty and humble man.
My era James Bond. The best Bond. All round nice guy. Looking forward to the documentary.
Great voice , great actor
Charming and funny guy what a legend !
Roger Moore's take on James Bond was a huge part of the '70's.
80s too. Roger is a legend.
What a gentleman, humor and elegance, but we all knew it didn't we? And this is eternal.
Fantastic - Great man, your the best Sir Roger Moore, nobody does it better 007
Bless Roger Moore! I had no idea he appeared on O&A. He was getting old and frail at this point, but he was still mentally alert and quick witted.
Utterly brilliant and charming . One of the best I’ve seen with him
I was just one year old when his first Bond film - LIVE AND LET DIE - came out, so I grew up with Sir Roger Moore's 007. He'll always be MY 007.
James Bond AND The Saint. A true British icon R.I.P.

Sir Roger Moore was my all time favorite James Bond character. Such an interesting personality!
I absolutely love Sir Roger , he was such a gent that lived a life, absolutely charming RIP
Roger displayed an extraordinary knowledge of the history of cinema.
I've been listening to o and a since they 1st came to xm. I've been a Bond fan my entire life. Never knew this interview existed
Me neither. Steve c must have risen from the gay dead and uploaded a bunch of stuff
My favorite Bond. And the only actor I bothered to have an autographed picture of on my wall.
Roger Moore the only man closest to the Bond he portrayed. A true gentleman.
To me he will always be my James bond legendary
Splendid interview of a most amiable and gifted man. May Sir Roger rest in peace.

The greatest
I liked everything he ever did, I can't really say that about anyone else .

Omg that was a road crash don't these interviewers ever do any research. What must Sir Rodger have thought walking into that.
The Austin Powers movies are the reason the new Bond movies are so much more serious in tone.
Met Roger Moore many years ago in a Hotel I worked in
Where please?
I like it already
Moore carried the whole interview. these guys r a joke in every sense of the word in this episode.

Actually Grant didn‘t want to do series. He would have agreed to one sole movie.
Well, that was fantastic. Thank you, Sir Moore...

I can hardly hear Sir Roger, is there something wrong with his microphone?
Nothing wrong with the mic, just the dumbos running the show.
Looks like maybe a combination of being soft spoken and too far from the mic
So polite of Sir Roger talking to a studio of bozos that know nothing about him or Bond.
