  • In this video I'm painting a small scene of Fall leaves covered in fresh snow, and a great little bird seen commonly at this time of year, the Dark Eyed Junco! I'm going to give a bit of overview of the painting from start finish, where I'll talk about the some of the colours I use, a bit of my process, and some of my thoughts about how I bring this scene to life! Enjoy!

    Joseph, thank you for telling us that you worked on this painting over 7 days. The videos are so quick that we think we can work that fast and of course it never works. But by telling us how long you worked on your painting makes me feel like I am doing something right when I slow down and let the process happen. Thanks again! Looking forward to more painting videos. ❤

      You're welcome! I'm happy to share this and some of the process, as well as how long the painting took, which can be hard to get an idea of in a 20 min video. Realism painting is very rewarding, but can also take so much time. So I really want to share that in my videos and encourage everyone that it's just about being patient and seeing it through to the end. Thank you for watching!

    Thanks for your explanations and teaching all round. You are answering questions that beginners have and darent ask or are 'all at sea'. Brilliant artist. Many thanks. I hope youve written books. I will search.

      You're welcome!! I'm happy to share and I'm glad that this has been helpful. I like to share what I've learned from all the years I have been painting. I haven't done any books yet, but I'll have more videos coming and hopefully more helpful tips as I paint things that I think everyone would want to learn!

      @JosephKoensgen Thank you so much for your reply. I think there would be a huge market for any books you do write because you teach at the very basic level right up to the fine arts . For beginners like me but we can see what is doable.

      Thank you for your kind comments! Though I haven't really considered doing a book, I may have to look into that to see what it would take. I'm glad my explanations have been helpful as I like to include as much information as possible - not only what I'm doing, but also why I'm doing it a certain way.

    I can not find the words on what I truly want to express. You make it seemingly simple, I can follow it. Simple. But you have the touch to make it more stunning. That's the mark of a great painter. You are it!!! TY for another tutorial.

    Hi Joseph, I stumbled on to your page and just love how you give me renewed hope of patience, tedium of each leaf can truly make a work of art so peaceful and the beauty your teaching us. Thank you very much for talking us through each detail.

      Thank you so much!! I'm glad this was helpful and gave you that renewed sense of patience. Lots of leaves can at times be tedious, but the outcome is certainly worth the effort. I'm happy to share and explain what I'm doing! If you haven't watched it yet, I've got another video with even more leaves that this one!

    The winter painting with the black eyed junco was wonderful. Here in Oregon that is one of my favorite and tells me summer is almost behind us (and now are 5 session fire and smoke) I really appreciate that you say how long it takes you to complete a painting.

    • @JosephKoensgen
      @JosephKoensgen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!! The brushes I'm using are the Artist's Loft Vienna brushes. And I'm using a range of anywhere between a round 6 for the background, and a round 2, 1, or 0, for the detailed work. In one of my recent videos I give a more detailed look at all my brushes and paint, and a little about how I use them!

    Thank You for share the process. Did you paint to the mdf board? The surface looks so smooth.

    • @JosephKoensgen
      @JosephKoensgen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're welcome! Yes, I paint on masonite board, or sometimes called hardboard that's 1/4 inch thick. I then seal the board with medium and prime with gesso. Then I sand it to get that really smooth finish, which I really like for the detailed paintings that I do.

    • @Lupus200378
      @Lupus200378 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JosephKoensgen Thank You for Your answer. Board with gesso is very good for acrylic paint. Easier to blend it, coz the surface is smoother than canvas and the paint dry slower. Good job
