It really doesn’t matter how long or how short your video is, I’ll still watch it. Don’t stress, you’re doing a cracking job man. Even the wife is enjoying watching 🤔. Best 73s 🤙🤙🤙
I'm really enjoying following this series Callum. I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery so my build won't be for a few months but I was looking through the DXCommander website pricing out monoband 40m components and imagine my surprise to find you're already selling a monoband 40m 4-square kit! Awesome video Cal. When we do phasing transmission lines for the antennas of an airport ILS system, we use a vector volt meter to verify that all of the coax have the same electrical length. I’m looking forward to the rest of the 4 square install…. Cheers, Bill KC2KNA

Great fun ! We getting our first snow in NY . Storm warning 1 to 2 feet ! . Just have to waterproof dummy load. I have one of them dry loads. They smell a bit of carbon when heat them up first time. Just a big carbon rod inside . You can test Acom 2000 on that load but 10 seconds is all you get . It will get quite hot after 10 seconds at 1.5 KW . That 75 ohm coax is good stuff. all copper. 73
I have a horizontal switchable and steerable array for 40 meters, an HRS 2/2/.2. It is a very fun toy, it can be rotated and phased to different directions and elevations, and it can be multibanded with open line. Still building the phasing box, at the moment I drive it manually.

Callum... Ive been debating this extensively and im wondering how does the 4-square compare to a single 40m vertical with a beverage ant or phased active receive verticals ?
@@DXCommanderHQ Great, I was a little concerned that you were too far away from center for your mounting pole. There is not a great deal of wriggle room so to speak....
Cal, I'd like to see the schematic and a bit more explanation of what's going on inside the box shown at 47:20 I see two 1:1 choke baluns wound on type 2 mix. Is this configured as a 4:1? Or perhaps a 1:4 seeing the impedance of the vertical will be lower than 36 ohms due to the interaction with the other elements. Keep up the good work OM. 73
So what you're not saying here explicitly, is that the center mast/tower/whatever functions as a parasitic reflector, making this configuration into a 2-element Yagi in each direction (based on which is the active element). True? But don't the other antennas also act like reflectors (or would they be directors), since "everything affects everything", and how would they affect the signal from the active element? Is that reflected (no pun) in your model?
