Before I started making patterns, I took a 1 hour private Lesson with a teacher from a local sewing shop. It helped to get an introduction and to “break the ice” of this big bad new skill I was about to learn.
After learning on my own for about 6 months, I took a 2 week, in person course at The Cut Fashion Design Academy in Vancouver Canada. They also offer the course virtually. LC Apparel Consulting is a school in New York that teaches in person courses on pattern drafting and draping.
Reach out to fabric shops and sewing shops in your city to see if they offer pattern design courses.
