  • I made a video a year and a half ago when I purchased my first REDTIGER F7N for myself. I like it so much, when my wife's Viofo in car DVR died, I got her a REDTIGER. Decided to try to make a better video this time while also installing the rear camera (which I didn't do in the first video. Hope you enjoy.

    Thanks for the video. I did a few things differently. Mounting the back camera on the window points it downward so half the view is inside the car. I mounted mine on the horizontal plastic above the window so I could face the camera straight back so I get the full view. I also tucked all the cables to make it look neat. Tucking all the cables took me less than 45 minutes.

    Also finally i am answering some of the comments i read. This man clearly stated his wife's car is a lease, so that is why he is not bothered to install the cabling nice and tidy cause they switch cars often.

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! It seems the F7N is the latest dash cam model from REDTIGER. Aside from the F7N, there is the F7N-P, the F7N-S, and the F7N Touch. The "Touch" and the F7N-S are suction cup mounted dash cams, and the F7N-P's only difference from the F7N I've seen is it comes with a 32 GByte microSD card. Hopefully this helps, and I appreciate that you watched the video!

    How much time do you have between video clips? I have 1 min videos at 4K and when one stops it takes 1 min to start recording the second. Curious if normal or if the enclosed sd is just too slow. Thank you

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment! I set my videos to record for 3 minute increments. It could be your microSD card. Make sure it has a U with a 3 inside of it (This means it's Ultra High Speed and can write 30MB per second to the disc). Also, make sure it has V30 on the label (this is the Video Speed Class and means the card can write at 30MB per second to disc). If it has a Circle with a 10 inside of it (means the Video Speed Class is 10 and it can write a minimum of 10MB per second to the disc). If you have the U with a 3 in it and either V30 or the Circle with a 10 in it, you should have no problems recording 4K do the microSD card.
      You can also try to reformat your microSD card and see if that corrects the problem, or you could reset your dash cam.
      Best of luck to you! Appreciate that you watched the video!!!

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@daytonpyro I mainly try to keep the camera up and out of the way so there's no visual impairment. The windshield in the Q8 e-tron has a steep angle from the roof to the hood and there isn't much room at all where the camera won't be in the driver's view. That's why I placed it where I did. Once it's in the car, we kind of forget its there and we only go to it when we need to pull the video. Good thing is, you can place the camera anywhere you'd like. Thanks again, and I appreciate that you watched the video!

    They have an upgrade the F7NP which uses a suction cup for the front camera a MUCH BETTER design because those 3M stickers do NOT hold in Southern climates due to heat related issues when the vehicle is parked in the sun. I also did NOT use the electrostatic shields AND I glued the REAR camera directly to the rear window using titebond glue and a thin piece of plywood (1/16th"). I removed the glue "sticky" completely from the rear camera mount (and did NOT use the 3M stick mount anywhere). The rear camera is also a lot lighter with the new model. BTW why does he select NOT having your speed stamp in your files? You need to turn that ON (I have no idea why he has it off... yeah you want YOUR speed in those recordings (so do NOT speed!)). I also select 24 hour time stamp as all my clocks are set that way. One final note. Even in my Kia Soul the rear camera wire was too short! It has a lift gate thus you need extra length for those. I extended mine because I'm highly technically oriented BUT you probably ain't THUS you can order a longer extension from redTiger's website. About $20. They have a 33' & 50' version (obviously for RV's).

    Hi I just recently bought this dashcam and was wondering if you have the same problem where every time you turn on the car you have to connect to wifi and to your app

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment. Sorry, but I usually do not use the WiFi feature or the app. I just drive with the dash cam on and recording, and if I need to take a look at recorded video, I remove the MicroSD card and plug the MicroSD card into my laptop, download videos I want to take a look at or keep. I believe the WiFi feature was designed so you can wirelessly access and download recordings without having to remove your MicroSD card from the dash cam. With that said, no, I do not have to connect to WiFi and the app every time I turn on the car. Best of luck to you!

      Thank you for the comment! It's a free app which allows you to operate a Redtiger dash cam from your iPhone or Android via WLAN." So, if you can find the app withing Android's app store you should be able to connect to it. Sorry, but there's no way that back camera was installed correctly! Once you close the tunk its pointed down and inside. You must have done something differently afterwards without showing. Anyway, i do appreciate you going through the camera in detail showing features and functions. Much better than most reviewers do. I get it about the wiring. That's the tedious part and no need to waste time on. I am fighting with the rear camera position and i just don't think they did a good job designing that particular rear camera. I do see that they have a new better design that allows better positioning of rear. Good stuff! Thanks!

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! Early on in the video, the rear camera was laying on the floor of the rear trunk area before I installed it on the rear window. The rear hatch window area of the Q8 E-tron Sportback is very limited, plus the trunk cover limits the view even more. Positioning of the camera is pushed as far north as possible. I did think about adding 3M material to the bottom of the rear camera mount to push it up more, but it covers enough of the rear to video tape vehicles behind us. Much appreciated that you watched the video! Best of luck to you in the future!

    So what video format, I.E. mp3, mp4, etc, does this camera record, and how easy/hard is it to download to provide a usable copy to your insurance provider???

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The REDTIGER F7N video format is MP4 with a H.264 compression which is currently the most ideal for in car dash cameras. It's very easy to either download a copy of your video via the the RedTiger app (requires WiFi connection) from the dash cam to your smartphone, or you can remove the microSD card and upload the file to your computer/laptop. Currently, my 5 minute clips recorded to the microSD card are 934.8 MBytes in size, so it records at ~186.96 MBytes per minute. Of course you can cut your video down to just what you want to present to your insurance agency which could be only 10 or 20 seconds of video. Appreciate that you watched my video! Best of luck to you!!!

Yours is touch screen and it looks a little larger than 3 inches. That's cool!!! I need to see which REDTIGER dash cam I'll be purchasing and reviewing next. Would be nice if they sent me one on their own to review. Thanks for the comment! Appreciate that you watched the video!!!

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, I think your first issue is something that can easily be overcome, and your WiFi question has a YES answer to it. Let me explain:
      The REDTIGER F7N comes with a power cable that is USB-C connected to the front camera and USB-A connected to a 12 volt source which could either be the lighter adapter that is provided with the dash cam, or you could just directly plug the power cord into a USB-A power source within the GMC vehicle.
      Yes, the REDTIGER App connects via WiFi in order to view video and pictures from the main unit, to make changes to settings, or to download video from the main unit to your smartphone.
      Please let me know if this helps. I appreciate that you watched my video!!!

      If you have the front camera tucked away to the right side, then it's the same way for the rear, every tiny gap you see shove the cable into it until the rear window, but go left for the rear if that makes sense.. Sorry that is the best way I can explain it lol. Just search more install videos on TH-cam and you will find someone who shows how it is done, it's not hard to do it on your own. Actually, my current dashcam is set right below the rear-view mirror, and the cable is amost invisible, I hide it inside the plastic part of the roof, then of the left door, and then under the seat, all the way to the usb port. Thanks for the comment! Yes, the two REDTIGER F7N units I purchased did not have a microSD card included on the box either. They usually have to be purchased separately. • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@gracieki7231 The dash cam will turn off once you turn off the ignition (unless you purchase and install a hardwire kit separately). You shouldn't have to worry about the video taking up space. Once the microSD card reaches it's hard drive space limit, it will record over the oldest video. This is called loop recording. So a 64 GByte microSD card will record about 5 hours of driving time before it starts looping and recording over old video. This dash cam also has G-shock capability, so if you're in an accident or if you have to slam on your breaks, it will store that video in a locked file that will not be recorded over. Appreciate again that you watched the video. Best of luck to you.

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment! I did think about routing the wires in the overhead, but Audi's overhead interior is very strong and very tight compared to other cars and I was worried I might damage the interior. If you take a look at my other dash cam installs in my Wagoneer you'll see that wiring easily fits in the interior overhead so I'm very confident when I install in the Jeep. I'll be turning in my wife's car soon since it's a leased vehicle and I didn't want to damage any of the interior. That's the main reason it's installed the way it is. We've had it like that for 8 months now and haven't had an issue with it. I get it, it's not ideal, but it's the way we plan to keep it until we turn the car in... unless it becomes a problem. Thanks for watching my video, it's much appreciated. Hope you have a great day!!!

    There was a comment about why you would use the WiFi to sync to the phone app. Of course the main reason you have this camera is to record an accident to show how much at fault, if any, you were. My son-in-law has been in two no fault accidents. When the Police arrived, the other driver claimed that the accident was 100% the other driver's fault, a big lie. so my son-in-law was able to show the Police right then and there a large video on his cell phone (expandable with your fingers), showing the other driver was 100% at fault. The other driver then admitted fault and the Police report was written up right then and there with the truth. If you have to go home, get your laptop and download the video, take it to the Police station to prove your case, you are buying a lot of headaches and it still might not come out with you ahead.
