    Reyes gloves when they’re broken in feel so good bro

      These just weren't for me, going to try get a safetec reyes pair to review as I think a bit more padding that's a bit softer might hit the nail on the head!

    I love the classic look of Cleto, but absolutely hate the glove. I know some ppl love them and swear by them, but there are too many options at the that price point that are superior in comfort, fit, and equal in durability.

      Got to agree with you here, I imagine their horse hair gloves are top of their class but the training gloves just don't do it for me

    100% agree with everything you mentioned the gloves are built like a tank but for someone like you and I 60kg guys there are better more compact gloves out there i had mine for a year hardly used them due to everything you mentioned used my winnings more ended up selling for about 80 quid took the loss and just moved on.

    As a Cleto Reyes user I would like to point out some of my findings through out the years.
    1.- Reyes get more comfortable with use, I however would recommend using bandages as handwraps as they tend to help the gloves break in better. ( 2 per hand)
    2.- Normal Reyes padding isn't really comfortable for me, however they recently came out with an extra padded model, softer leather and a shorter cuff. I highly recommend these, try to get your hands on a pair and try them if you can.
    Your overall review of the glove seems spot on, hopefully your pair has gotten better with use to the point you can actually wear them comfortably.

    When I first trained in Cleto Reyes I hated them. I thought I’d just wasted a lot of money but after they broke in nicely they really became my favorite glove. The padding isn’t for everyone and the training gloves don’t have horse hair. I’d recommend anyone with hand problems to not get Reyes. I also use Decha which are very very soft padding and great quality. Do you have access to Isami gloves? I want to see a review on those. I hear they’re better than Winning. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @SamPalmer
      @SamPalmer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll be honest and say I haven't heard of Decha gloves before but I will for sure look into them and Isami gloves are definitely on the list to try! What sort of size are you? I feel like even now my reyes gloves feel uncomfortable when I try them, its almost as if they were made for fighters at middle weight or above or at least that's how I feel with them. Even when sparring if I land a hard head shot and the otther guy is set I feel almost as if its jarring my whole arm. Thinking about trying to steam them and try applying some leather softener balm also to see if the give a better fit. Glad to hear you managed to enjoy your Reyes though!! Did you also get the training style?

      @matthewmayfield8095 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Decha are a really new brand from Thailand but they’re more of a boxer style glove than a Thai style.
      I agree! I’m 168 pounds, not sure what that is in the UK but it’s super middleweight. I think if I were any smaller or bigger they wouldn’t work as good. If you take your Reyes gloves and drop them onto a hard floor they bounce really good. More than most. I don’t like them on heavy bags or hard sparring sessions either but on thai pads they’re really good and aqua bags they’re really good (in my personal opinion) I have heard of people really messing up their elbows with them and how springy they are.

    printed logo hasnt gone away how often do you use this gloves

    • @SamPalmer
      @SamPalmer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Had them around 4 years probably did around at least 20 rounds a week for the first year then slowed down using them as they didn’t break in as I’d hoped, not sure if you can see in the video but one logo hasn’t faded at all and the other is quite cracked all across the logo, still great quality gloves. Just not for me sadly

      @@SamPalmer you definitely should get a trainer, you need a lot of work. If you’re serious about boxing hire a professional coach to train under. I hope this helps.

    There 2 different Reyes designs some are more rounded these are the less rounded gloves they look different when you look at them straight on mabey the more rounded version is better.

    I’m debating buying these. My hands aren’t that big but I need a pair of gloves that won’t break on me. Any suggestions for a good pair of gloves that can work for pad, sparring and bag work and what size I should use

    • @SamPalmer
      @SamPalmer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both Ringside and Sting have some great options priced around the middle of the market, make sure you get 16oz because some clubs will only allow 16oz for sparring unless your coach tells you otherwise!! Hope this helps

      I made this video to help people out a bit really. If i didn't have a lot of money and had to pick a glove to last me the foreseeable future and i saved up and brought these, in short, i'd be pretty disappointed. Not bashing on Reyes as a brand but this particular style glove I don't think competes with any of the other gloves within its price range. Obviously everyone likes their gloves different but if I spend and hour on a heavy bag using these i'd think about replacing the joints in my arms.

    I have sabas proseries 16oz. They are snugfit. The tips of my finger push the edge of the leather. Will these cleto 14oz fit my hand?

    • @SamPalmer
      @SamPalmer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never used Sabas gloves before but I hear they are quite similar to Reyes, I found there to be plenty of room in these gloves but I’m only 60kg 5’8 so its different for me, best order from somewhere with a good returns policy so you can try them on and send them straight back if they don’t fit.

      Well, because most boxers have larger hands. The extra space inside is appreciated. If you have small hands it's gonna be a loose fit.

      @@SamPalmer i dont know what all these people in the comments are talking about reyes being good gloves. They are absolutely not. ( If you have some rivals or winnings you know they are levels above reyes in many aspects except in material quality )
      I do notice the guys that wear reyes often dont give a fuck about anything. So i can imagine they dont care about a glove much. They are the brawlers that generally dont care about brain health, hard sparring, hurting people in the gym etc.
      These guys probably just dont care if their gloves are overweight, way to big and have terrible ergonomics.
      Personally i think they just love the brand and the mexican hard hitting vibe that they stand for.
      Cleto reyes is not for the people that like a well designed and technically sound product like you and me.
