    Hi, I have the same 6500 4s. Charge from 3.8v to 4.2v/cell the capacity is about 2000mah, what is minimal voltage when You should charge this battery?
    Best regards 👍

    I've tried out those batteries on my X-Maxx. They worked great for a while, but the solder that keeps the wires connected to the internal pack kept breaking. Once that happens, bye bye battery. I've had that happen twice. I since went with straps instead of the awful plastic tray hold downs from Traxxas. Maybe that would have prevented that? But now I don't trust those batteries though 🤔. Great video as usual.

    DO YOU KNOW THE CHARGE RATE FOR THESE BATTERIES ??

  • @colinmacdonald6600
    @colinmacdonald6600 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have just purchased an RC with 3s lipo batteries and it talks about low voltage detection and I’m a bit confused does that mean you shouldn’t run the batteries completely dead or do they give u a warning please advise

    • @MatthewSimm
      @MatthewSimm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Colin!
      Low voltage detection is on the rc car (the esc) when the lipo is running low, it will detect the low voltage and stop. From experience, most rc cars will cut off around 10% battery life.
      If you're new to the hobby, I suggest doing some lipo research.
      I hope this has helped :)

    • @colinmacdonald6600
      @colinmacdonald6600 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matthew Simm hi yes that’s making more sense so when you say when the battery is about 10% life it with stop, do you mean the truck will stop as thou the battery is dead to preserve the battery. And yes I’m new to lipo batteries, I did have a rc years ago but it used ordinary batteries none of this fancy stuff. Thank you for the info

    • @MatthewSimm
      @MatthewSimm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes is will stop or it will limit the rc car to a crawl speed, that means its flat and to stop driving it.
      Also, once you're finished for the day, you should always put the batteries into a storage charge as over time they can lose power and if the battery is flat it could kill it.
      Also a good tip, never leave your batteries inside your house or your car, its very unlikely to happen however if for some reason you damaged the battery during your driving it could ignite and cause a fire, so I suggest putting them in a steeo tool box a couple of meters away from valuable items (house, car etc...)

    • @colinmacdonald6600
      @colinmacdonald6600 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much for replying as quickly, so that beggars another question once the battery needs charged after use ideally we should charge yes?
      This is very helpful to be able to ask, so could you explain about discharging what it is n when should you do it please?

    • @MatthewSimm
      @MatthewSimm  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colinmacdonald6600 after using your batteries, plug them into your charger and choose the "lipo storage charge" option, this will charge or discharge your battery to safely store your batteries for the next time you want to use them.
      If you would like, I might do a video touching on the basics of lipo batteries? How to charge and store them etc..

    Just curious, but ive seen many "smaller' channels and i am wondering how you got so many subscribers, from about the same amount of time, that i have had a channel. Is it bc my channel is not posting as good quality vids? I literally only have my phone, and i broke my tripod. i have almost no money, so i cant use it on my channel. i use imovie to edit lol.
    be careful with those batteries. i have some of those, but different branding. (hrb. they look the exact same, and are similar prices. they also came in the same packaging.) mine started leaking some green fluid after about a month. so they are currently at the end of my drive way, in snow, in my lipo safe bag. so that means i cant charge anymore batteries, until this gets sorted out. so no more fun. also, my hard case battery broke. the case cracked, and i was curious if i could still use it? thanks. i might be uploading a top 10 rc car list. its gonna be same platform as yours. but it wont be as good. haha. ill leave a link in my description box of your video incase anyone wants to watch the one i tried to "copy". haha.

      I wouldn't use the battery just be sure to depose of it properly.

    I got 2 of those same 4s 6500mah batteries off ebay for 120$ au. I have been out of the rc game for a long enough time so my last was a bees dick 3s brushless. So 2200mah 3s and that was considered high end in the mid 2000s. But in my 4s maxx, getting on it pretty hard, yeah 30 minutes run time sounds about right. Not on it, yeah, run time is longer. So its a bit better then the 90s where 7 minutes out of a 3000mah 7.2v nimh through a 15 tripple mod brushed motor was considered good run time.

    • @MatthewSimm
      @MatthewSimm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Greg!
      I fully understand! I started off racing with NiMh too in the early 2000s. I was only a kid but I still remember what they were like, I even had one blow up in my dads hands! Lipos catch fire, but those batteries actually went bang haha.
      Good to see you're back in the hobby, if you want some better fitting batteries for the maxx (My new go to bashing batts) the 7000mah zeee lipo 4s 100c batteries fit perfectly! Like they were made for it.

    • @Greg....
      @Greg.... 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MatthewSimm the youme 6500mah 4s are a very snug fit in the maxx. They only just fit and thats with all the stuff for other fitment removed. So thats actually a positive.
      I got my kid a traxxas stampede (bigfoot version) a while back sort of as a starter for him to beat around. He loves it. So obviously its had a few bits thrown at it. He is 11, but with an aftermarket brushless setup, its not the quickest thing out there, but plenty for a kid. He does all the work on it himself, but thats because its the best way to learn. I do talk him through stuff, but i want him to do the work as opposed to him getting me to do it for him.
