Of the three greats of that era, Astaire, O'Connor, and Kelly, O'Connor was the best dancer and had the nicest voice. Astaire's elegance and mastery are beyond description. No one could match his partner dancing. And, he, too, had a wonderful tenor voice. Kelly had the matinee looks, the strong physique, and a very grounded, athletic style, and certainly sang nicely. But, O'Connor could float on air and then shift into an acrobatic/athletic choreography that looked like he was floating on air. Incredible. And all while, singing! Adding his appealing 'boy next door' looks made it all appear as if it were a jaunty stroll. ... We'll never see the likes of these three again. Phenomenal talent!!!
I also was blessed to have met and danced on stage with Donald O'Connor when I was 12. My mom took me to a fundraiser and he was there to help boost donations from that room full of women. My mom told them I could tap dance and they asked me to come up front I didn't want to at first but my mom insisted. They introduced me to him and he asked me if I could repeat a few steps and I said yes so we got to dance a short routine with him. I wish I had a video of it to share my fond memories with others and to have it for myself. I was given an autographed picture at the time I didn't think anything of it I had no clue who he was. Years later when I found out I was shocked that I got to meet and dance with such a star of great talent. Sadly I was never able to perfect my tap dancing to the ability of Donald O'Connor or any of the other tap dancers of his caliber. they were able to make it look so easy but for anybody that who's ever tap-danced realizes the difficulty of the steps he was able to perform that he was able to incorporate his acrobatic abilities and the fact that he could act and sing just made him a very talented human being.
@@suzannejensen275 wow that is so amazing that you met such a legend! Good for you! That's also so cool and awesome that you tapped a routine with him. That is legendary 😎👍🏻
@@kerry5586 Yes kerry I was very lucky but I feel blessed to have met him. I just wish I knew who he was at the time I would've made a bigger deal of it. At least I'll always have the memory or I pray I do.
I love how the kids attack him with hugs at the end. He's such a darling! He has amazing reflexes. How is that possible to catch those balls so fast? Then again, it is Donald, who can do basically everything, it seems. Love him! Thank you!
One of the special scenes in 1956 Paramount Pictures' Anything Goes is Donald O'Connor's enchanting, inspiring, and rollicking song-and-dance moment with a bunch of kids. His bouncing, catching, and dribbling of the balls in perfect timing with the music and his tap-dancing is simply-wonderful.His playing of the xylophone with the ball in pleasant tune is truly-beautiful.His interacting with the kids in childlike way is very-delightful.He's one of all-time most gifted and athletic entertainers.
He was even more talented than My fav Gene.💪🏼They also could a not hold a candle to his beautiful vocal range .. He saved the Film Co. , Doing the Francis movies. Pathetic 🙀 Kudos for Donald , an exceptional talent of all 💗🙏🤸🏼♂️
He's so amazing and talented. If I never saw singing in the rain, I never would have been able to see Don and great tappers, actors and dancers from the past. Glad I love this stuff, it's rare in this day in age too like it , at my age.
Such epic talent. He makes it all look so easy. Who do we have these days that could even compare to triple threats like Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly?
There were so many great tappers who could sing and act...and one of my favorites was Donald.....He always seemed like he enjoyed what he did and he made it look easy... others looked like they overpracticed . When Debbie Reynolds and Donald danced in movies like "I Love Melvin" they seems to have joy with what they did even though I know how tough it is to get lines, dances ect to come across natural.
@pupgal1999 Oh you'll love it! It's such a great film Donald is great in it and he works so well with his great friends Bing Crosby and Mitzi Gaynor :)
He was a real gentleman. An abused spouse, he went by the philosophy that a man never hits a woman & bore the abuse for years to be able to stay with his little girl. Look him up in Wikipedia. A fine man, who deserves credit for more than his undeniable gifts as an entertainer! 🕺

There wasn't anything Donald O'Connor couldn't do, and he basically did it all. Perfection at its finest.
As a youngster, I had the pleasure of meeting the great Donald O' Connor ! Not only a spectacular talent, but also a fine gentleman .

Creo que hoy día es muy raro encontrar a un artista tan versátil y de tanta calidad como Donald O'Connor 😉👍👏👏👏👏👏
Donald O'Connor was just a big kid at heart, so this number was perfect for him.
Fantastic! He was wonderful. Kids of today should see these wonderful films, instead of having their heads filled with garbage.
Attacked by hugs! He was a wonderful dancer and actor

I learned how to dribble a basketball from this movie. I did NOT make the team, but I DID make the Glee Club : )
Such epic talent. He makes it all look so easy. Who do we have these days that could even compare to triple threats like Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly?
And Fred, of course, also. Magnificent genius artists.💛🏅🎯🏆

WOW! Ta*lent*!
This guy was the best my mother said he quit because of a heart condition?
He was a very heavy smoker ( almost 4 packs a day at one point), which destroyed his lungs & heart.
HUG ATTACK :D
A great artist, is the film available
I got it off amazon!

I always thought, and still do, that he is on par with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.
I really hope he wasn't a bad guy bc i love his performances

This could be the Corona virus song for the US economy
As this full movie has been blocked on TH-cam because of some copyright bullshit, is there anyone out there who download the full movie for me?
Someone put the lyrics please!!!
