Always good to reiterate the importance of tyre changing 👍. As our caravan is stored indoors (no uv light), I was dismayed when I had to change the tyres as they were still like brand new, no cracking. Better safe than sorry though. I had Tyron bands fitted in 2013 when we ordered the caravan and they were re-fitted with the new tyres with no problems. All the best, Rob

Hi Rob. I had heard horror stories about French tyre places ruining wheels with tyron bands on so I opted due to our trip to France. I am still considering them though. thanks Phil👍🙂

Hi Phil the message to look after and check your tyres can never be overstated. When using some alloy wheel cleaners the strength of the cleaner needs to kept to a minimum. Strong chemicals can leach the oils from the rubber, it’s these that allow the rubber to flex. Lack of these lubricants can cause premature cracking an tyre failure. Another great video 👍

I had a blow out, phoned a Mobile Tyre service ,when technician was replacing tyre he did say I should’ve ordered “C” tyres ,I did say to the person who took my booking it was a caravan ,I was unaware of this ,as it is a twin axle I will now have to replace all 4 tyres ,I didn’t know about expiry dates of tyres until then.

Hi Phil. Great video as usual. I did a video on this subject and was amazed on how complicated it all is and how much you need to know about the tyres but also the Tyrone bands. ( if fitted ) thanks for sharing 👍 Cheers Paul and Sarah

Hi Paul. Yes it's not an easy subject to tackle. We considered Tyron Bands this year but as we went to France I was put off as I had heard horror stories about the French Tyre Shops damaging the wheels when removing the tyres. However this may be a future thing for me.

Hi Howard. The Caravan Industry have never balanced the Wheels. They claim there is no difference. The Guys who changed mine did balance them. I cannot say I noticed any change when towing. Thanks Phil👍🙂

What a load of crap It's sunlight and standing still that ages tyres if they are not standing under load or in sunlight the will not degrade you went on about changing the spare if you need to use it, Its kept out of the sun and has not been under any load and is only 4/5 year old.

Hmm a little harsh. I actually said "I would CONSIDER changing the spare once I had used it". You are correct that UV and load does reduce the life time of a Tyre.
