Anyone catch how this is a sequel to Starlight from Vessels? "AT NIGHT THE EARTH WILL RISE and I'll think of you each time I watch from distant skies whenever stars go down and galaxies collide I'll think of you each time they wash me in their light AND ILL FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU AGAIN" then in Earthrise, the metaphor describes being on a different planet all alone, away from her. He's there just waiting for a glimpse of his love. He's sad because it seems like it won't come. Then when it does, he says, just like he did in Starlight, "I still fall for you like suns do for skies." I still fall in love with you each time you come by, like I promised. even though we cannot be together.

About 6 yrs ago my son told me to check out a band called Starset. He kept pestering me so to get him off my back I finally looked them up and listened while I drove to work. Within a couple of mins. I was, literally, in tears. It was a musical/lyrical rebirth for me. Seen them live 3X now. I'm 53.

I was forced to listen to this band in 2003 in a dream. I haven't heard this song for nearly 2 decades. But i remembered The Breach, Disappear and Leaving This World Behind. Because the dream ended shortly after this song was released before the dream ended. I got to hear their other 3 albums entirely, but i only partially heard this one. I'm really excited to hear it after all this time. I thought in 2003 my mind just made up extremely great music like nothing else on the planet, looked them up and couldn't find them, so i brushed it off as a dream I'll never forget. For pity sake, there was a song called Waking Up, the lyrics in The Breach mentioned "...am i asleep..." I figured my mind was just letting me know I'm not gonna wake up yet, but i am asleep yet aware of it. Turns out, i just saw myself listening to them how i would be in my future. Because of this, Starset is far more to me than just a band with great unique music.
Anyone else notice the subtle Downplay callback when he said “I waited for the sky to change“? That was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard that
No words can explain my adoration for this band. They literally got me through my depressive 4 year stage and I really love all their songs. I hope I can go to a live concert soon and see them in the flesh!
My husband and I celebrate our birthdays with them every time they come to NY, and we go to their hometown shows in OH too. They are absolutely amazing in concert. Dustin and Ron have come a long way from when they were Downplay. My hubby and I share your adoration. we love them. We're even getting the trials logo on our shoulders because we too, have been through the suicide ringer ourselves.
When the song hasn’t even started but you already know it’s going to be another favorite song Edit : The song has started and it’s another one of my favorite song
Dustin Bates, 2011: "I won't live life in the rain, waiting on the sky to change" Dustin Bates, 2021: "I waited for the sky to change, but oh it never did"
When a song can be badass yet romantic, sad yet gives a good feeling, rock but with a symphonic and almost ethereal sound- that's Starset. So happy to have discovered this band at the beginning of this year!
Welcome to the Starset Society! Make yourself at home. Please remember to listen for any incoming Transmissions, look out for inbound Vessels, and keep an eye on any Divisions that may show up. Additionally, we eagerly anticipate the Horizons next week.
Space theme is the feature of starset and that’s why I love them. I think if they will make more space stuff they will gain more attention as their first two albums
I'm thinking that the space theme is gonna come back heavily in their future albums. It seems like Transmissions and vessels were kind of like giving background and preparation for space travel and divisions set up a reason for humanity to leave Earth
@@izzynobre right??? with every new album I feel like, ok, NOW they'll become really big, but honestly I doubt it will ever happen since this kind of music is kinda niche
This just shows how far Starset's writing of their music has come since Transmissions. They put out 4 songs that are distinctly different but all so right for the band. What a great band to have followed for all these years.
My favourite part about the album is how there's so much difference between the songs (compare Otherworldly and Devolution - they could be from different albums), but each song hits equally hard in different ways and keeps the 'Starset magic'. Horizons has many songs in a brand new style, but also a few that sound like old Starset - This Endless Endeavour sounds like Transmissions and Vessels, while songs like Tunnelvision have the Divisions feel to them. Overall the album is phenomenal, and I REALLY love the direction they're going in. Vessels will always be my favourite though.
I usually don't ever comment, but I feel like this song has me the most right now. I remember discovering you guys back in high school about 5 years ago, and it was the happiest accident I ever made. Starset has by far the most unique music, lyrics, and style of any band out there. 4 albums in and you are still my absolute favorite band. But this song is probably the most relatable to me right now. My girlfriend and I have been in an unpleasant spot for a while now with things going on, and sometimes the stress brings out the worst of our anxiety. Sometimes it feels like it's just too much. But everytime I'm with her, no matter how brief or with whatever we have to get through to get together again, it does feel amazing. "Like watching the Earthrise." No matter how tough things get, or what life may throw at us. "I still fall for you like suns do for skies." You gave my life a whole variety of color and meaning after being alone and left behind by others. I love you, Olivia.
this whole album has been hitting me in the heart. "i walk these streets of loneliness" is what i do everyday. "these empty scene of might-have-beens" this just makes me think of all the things i have missed a chance on. and then leads me to believe im just destined to always be this way
My bestie just got diagnosed with melanoma 😞 When she's not around I've found myself jamming Starset and allowing myself to weaken. It helps allow me to be strong when I go back around her. Thank u Starset for not knowing what it means to be disappointing. ❤️🌟
Starset has really gotten me through some tough times. The music is absolutely beautiful. I keep going back to Echo, Die For You, and Monster. I love the rhythm, and its so symphonic. Words cannot explain how Starset makes me feel emotionally. I'm so glad i found them.
I was just talking to my friend the other day about the same thing. My first tattoo was about Echo. When I heard it live when Divisions came out and it was my Starset demonstration, I was just on top of the world and didn't have a care in the world... I'm seeing them again on November 27th this year because I need that again..
Yea true, those songs are my favorite as well especially dark on me and telepathic, it reminds me of what happens. I love how you connect your life to their songs honestly beautiful
@@ashleypixie3781 lucky you're seeing them live! They aren't coming to a city near me sadly. I have tattoos of the Manifest and Faultline symbols. Planning to make a whole Starset sleeve
Ah yes. STARSET: slaps hard enough to cook a chicken. In all seriousness though, can we have a moment of appreciation for the absolute range STARSET has? They’ve got romance, romantic (but not quite human or romance), emotional connections*, anti-authoritarian**, horror, visionary, and plenty more if you’re willing to search. That’s a lot of music, and all of it rocks (lmao) in one form or another. * I distinguish between the three because while yes, you can be vague and have it be romance, let’s be honest: does STARSET usually reference something as both anthropomorphic enough to be a human and romantic? I can think of Frequency, Starlight, Halo, and maybe Gravity of You, but a good chunk of even those songs could easily be idolization- one of the things STARSET generally warns about- or platonic in nature. It’s neat that you can interpret what exactly the connections are. It’s real, in a way. (You’re free to fight me on this matter, but I’m not going to do much fighting back) ** Special notice to DEVOLUTION, which even has a 1984-style breakout argument in the comments over what it’s supposed to be referencing- which, just like 1984, a book that had been banned from the US and USSR, kinda says something. BTW, go read 1984 if you can stomach dark content without catchy background music. This isn’t an intended diss to other musicians- it can be hard to make a living, or even get producers to agree to your works (abusive bosses suck), or even get the public to hear all your good works. But dang if STARSET doesn’t rule! I almost want to hear it on the radio (unedited. Scare your kids with the jargon lore samples at the end of some of the tracks), but I don’t think my speakers would do it justice.
On Christmas Eve, 1968, three astronauts (Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders) are floating in a capsule (Apollo 8) orbiting the moon and taking pictures of it out the window. As they come around, the Earth appears on the horizon and quickly starts rising. Borman becomes the first person to take a photo of Earth from the moon - it's in black and white and shows about two thirds of the Earth, the remaining third still hidden below the moon's horizon. The earth is rising fast. They swap out the film for color film. Anders becomes the first person to snap a photo of the whole Earth from the Moon - and it's in color. It would turn out to be one of the greatest photos ever taken. It's called "Earthrise" and it features both the full disk of Earth and the moon's horizon, very close together. You might have seen it while looking for this song!
We are probably the best fanbase a band can get. Not a single critical comment from the fans here. Clearly these guys make good music, and we have a capacity to appreciate their style.
Dear Starset, I found you guys after my car crash in 2015 and couldn't have been any happier or luckier to have found you guys. You've kept my depression at bay and for the longest I listened to your music when I'd try to lay down to sleep (insomnia/depression) but the music always have given me goosebumps and the feeling of something higher up bringing my towards your music is why I shall never turn away.
Look no further than this song. One of the weakest song Ive ever heard from them (maybe after waking up or solstice they were umm lets say pretty bad). The only thing good about this song is the chorus part. Bridge was weak, intro was straight up BAD unfortunatelly... BTW im not a hater or anything dont get me wrong. First 2 albums are on my faav albums list. 3rd album wasnt bad either except some songs that I stated earlier. But this album is the biggest dissapointment of 2021 for me. I was so fcking hyped for this that might be the reason but they came up REALLY short with these releases. The reason why I partially disliked is how they opt to transition in to a lot softer and especially mainstream style. I mean look at the intro of this song. Its utterly lame and over-used. That massivly dissapointing trap beat was horrible to be brutally honest. Same complaints apply to Leaving this world behind. Thankfully The Breach doesnt have that essence but what it has that discomforts me is the unnecesarrily repeats. Like boy its undiscribeable how repeatative that song is. Also long notes wasnt the best idea especailly with over-used autotune. Hopefully the rest of the album carries it a bit but Im quite sceptic at this point. I was wrong to have such high hopes... Divisions gave us the signals and now they had headed to a totally different path that has no turning back... Anyways sorry for bothering no one acually asked my opinion but I just wanted to express my feelings for absolutely no reason. Have a good day/ night everyone
My Starset Album Ranking and Rating is... #1 Vessels (94%) #2 Divisions (88%) #3 Transmissions (86%) Best Rock Band Since 2014. I saw Early Reviews on Horizons. Most reviews said that the new album is the best one yet. Can't Wait for Friday.
@@HackOnFackebook It's obviously not as good as Transmissions and especially not Vessels, but they still have enough of a consistent level of quality to be considered a great band to this day. It's not their fault that they started their career with two of the greatest rock albums of all time. How are they supposed to live up to that?
@@HackOnFackebook We all have our own opinions. And in mine I could care less if they stick to their new sounds or double back. They're both amazing, and these new ones are unique and beautiful to me. I wouldn't say they're moving in a negative direction at all.

@@bradcallahan3546 I learned of them when they opened for Breaking Benjamin in Eugene, OR on April 15, 2016. I listened to them for the first time the night before because opening bands are more fun when I know some of their music. I pulled up the “My Demons” video, was immediately intrigued by the opening about a transmission from the Starset Society, loved the visuals going into the video with Ron in his spacesuit and the telescope array and everything, and their sound, and I was officially in love before the first chorus was even over. They literally had me at “Take me high and I’ll sing.” For the rest of the evening, I listened to every Starset song I could find, and the next night, I sang along well enough that a lady next to me took me for a longtime fan and asked me about Starset. In hindsight, I kinda hated that I had to tell her I’d only listened to them for the first time the night before. Now I’d be like, “Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Dustin Bates? 🤓” 😂 That night I bought a CD copy of ‘Transmissions’ and a copy of ‘The PROX Transmissions’ novel. I don’t think I’ve ever gone from first hearing a band to throwing money at them that fast before or since, lol.
"And I’ve waited for the sky to change but oh it never did" You can't just slip a Downplay reference in there and expect me not to notice. I see what you're doing.
I've pushed my feet to the edge I look and I face my world And this lonely sea I take it in It's hard to say where all of it begins and I end And I've waited for the sky to change but oh it never did And I almost dropped my head and lost my faith Man I saw you from a distance, you were worlds away Oh but you had me from a vision, I never looked away Again I still fall for you like suns do for skies Cerulean pouring in from your eyes Just a hollow moon that you cauterise So powerful, I feel so small but so alive Like watching the earth rise I walk the streets of loneliness The tranquil see all horizons This empty sea of might-have-beens I stare at starlit skies, they're calling me And I still wish I still fall for you like suns do for skies Cerulean pouring in from your eyes Just a hollow moon that you cauterise So powerful, I feel so small but so alive They said that we both were too different That all of the shine would fade away But I wish that I never listened 'Cause you pull me through the grime I still fall for you like suns do for skies Cerulean pouring in from your eyes Just a hollow moon that you cauterise So powerful, I feel so small but so alive Like watching the earth rise
When I first started listening to this band there was not a "fan base" but not there is. And I'm so happy because we are all space lovers and love this band!
Saw them for the first time last weekend in Birmingham Alabama. I had no clue about them. My son came with me it was first concert. And he was so excited when they hit the stage. And I’ll be honest. I was blown away. I absolutely love them! I’m ready to see them again!
I never noticed it until now, but has anyone else realized there's a poetic significance to Earthrise being one word? Earthrise is one word, just like the word sunrise. An Earthrise implies that the singer is watching their loved ones from a distance, seeing the earth rise like the sun from the view of another planet or moon.

Hot damn, each new song so far is better than the last... This impacts me like "My Demons", "Starlight", and "Diving Bell" have before. And I couldn't help thinking of the Apollo missions with some of the chorus's lyrics, particularly Apollo 8, where humans had their first sight of, well, earthrise - especially with the lines "so powerful, I feel so small, but so alive", which would indeed describe sight of our home planet from afar, how finite and fragile it is. (People came back changed from the experience.) Such reference HAD to be on purpose, and very commendable. Starset is capable of cosmic poetry - small wonder an astronomy nerd like myself loves this band so much. 💙
Some lyric do suggest that the one that described in this song is Earth during apollo 8. I always imagine that this song is a love song from moon to earth. I mean there are lyric that said 'i never look away', moon practically have one side that always looking at earth. 'Tranquil sea on all horizon' also a nice hint to mare tranqulitatis, a sea on the moon where human first step their foot on the moon. And i love the lyric 'cerulean pouring in from your eyes' cerulean is a color that used to paint the sky on painting, the literal meaning of the color is sky and heaven. Further suggest that the one described is earth.
@@cefrinaldi8060 You make a good point. Adding on to that point, "just a hollow moon that you colorize" sounds rather like what happens to the moon in a lunar eclipse.
A friend very dear to me committed suicide Tuesday and i learned of it barely three hours ago, she was only 31. Though i feel really sad, i find some joy in your song, the lyrics call to me. I will remember my friend when i'll ear Earthrise from now-on as this was the song i was listening to when the phone rang and i got the bad new. Though i'll associate this song to a bad event, i find listenning to it brings back the good memories i've had with my friend. Thank you Starset, now i have a good anchor to remember this friend by, remember all these years, the moments i spent with her, all this is flashing before my eyes as i listen. I think this will help, it won't fix anything, but it might make it easier to go through this dark moment for me.
Can we talk about how good the line "a tranquil sea on all horizons" is? For a song that's ostensibly about viewing the Earth from the surface of the Moon, the landing site of Apollo 11 was in Mare Tranquillitatis, aka "The Sea of Tranquility". Such a clever inclusion, that. Also "I stare at starless skies" - even during the lunar night, on the Earth-facing side, the Earthshine and its reflection against lunar regolith is still bright enough to drown out the light coming from other stars, causing the sky to look totally black.
Starset quickly is becoming one of my favorite bands because the lyrics in their songs are unbelievable like, “I fall for you like suns do for skies” is beautiful and they’ve got a sound the is more unique than from any band I’ve heard of
This album is so good that my entire top 5 fav songs of all time are songs from Horizons 1. Symbiotic 2. Earthrise 3. Devolution 4. Icarus 5. Endless endeavour
Transmissions, Telescope was the 5th song, and it was one of my favorites. Vessels / 2.0, Ricochet was the 5th song, and it was the song that got me hooked on Starset. Divisions, Perfect Machine was the 5th song, and it is my favorite song off of that album. Time to see what new Horizons bring.
This song. It makes me think of a guy I met during my first year at community college. We kept talking throughout our two-and-a-half years there. We'd talk about his Star Wars fan-fiction, RWBY (even though I stopped watching after Volume 6 due to the story becoming too intense for me to enjoy), and my own Minecraft fan-fiction. He even named the main character of that fan-fiction when I was having trouble coming up with a name for him. Of course, that story has long since evolved into its own universe, but anyways, back to my reminiscing! This guy loved Starset just as much as I did. I even invited him to come with me to see them live during our last semester at that college, even though he said he wouldn't be able to make it. He had his own struggles. I even skipped my first and only class in my 15 years in the education system, because he was having such a bad day and I wanted to make sure that he didn't feel alone before he left for the day. I have no clue where he is right now, but Earthrise makes me think of how much I care for him and how much I still care for him. I really hope he's doing okay with the pandemic. Nick, wherever you are, I hope you're holding out okay! I miss talking to you. -Your friend, Margo (formerly Margaux)

When a song can be badass yet romantic, sad yet gives a good feeling, rock but with a symphonic and almost ethereal sound- that's Starset. So happy to have discovered this band at the beginning of this year!
With scientific references in lyrics
Welcome to the Starset Society! Make yourself at home. Please remember to listen for any incoming Transmissions, look out for inbound Vessels, and keep an eye on any Divisions that may show up. Additionally, we eagerly anticipate the Horizons next week.
Been a fan for a few years myself and trust me you'll get used to that feeling
Welcome!!! 😊❤👏🏻 You won't be disappointed, I promise!
This song gives me so many Vessels vibes. Especially the astronomical and space aspects as well as the empowering chorus.
Fuck yes, this is the best single yet, I love that the space vibe is back.
agreed
Space theme is the feature of starset and that’s why I love them. I think if they will make more space stuff they will gain more attention as their first two albums
Its going to be in the horizons album
I'm thinking that the space theme is gonna come back heavily in their future albums. It seems like Transmissions and vessels were kind of like giving background and preparation for space travel and divisions set up a reason for humanity to leave Earth
Why STARSET is so underrated? Their songs are best in the World.
Worlds*
I think of them as the next generation's Linkin Park. I feel like they are juuuuust about to blow up
@@izzynobre right??? with every new album I feel like, ok, NOW they'll become really big, but honestly I doubt it will ever happen since this kind of music is kinda niche
@@izzynobre The older stuff of Starset (Transmissions and Vessels) gained waaay more attention than the new stuff does.
I don't mind Starset kinda being slept on tbh. It makes the band and fan base more special for me
This just shows how far Starset's writing of their music has come since Transmissions. They put out 4 songs that are distinctly different but all so right for the band. What a great band to have followed for all these years.
With a societal following! (fr - look it up)
My favourite part about the album is how there's so much difference between the songs (compare Otherworldly and Devolution - they could be from different albums), but each song hits equally hard in different ways and keeps the 'Starset magic'.
"Like watching the Earthrise."
No matter how tough things get, or what life may throw at us.
"I still fall for you like suns do for skies." You gave my life a whole variety of color and meaning after being alone and left behind by others. I love you, Olivia.
Took me awhile to find this. I can say the same to you. I love you, too. Always will.

(You’re free to fight me on this matter, but I’m not going to do much fighting back)
** Special notice to DEVOLUTION, which even has a 1984-style breakout argument in the comments over what it’s supposed to be referencing- which, just like 1984, a book that had been banned from the US and USSR, kinda says something.
Rest in peace Anders ✨️

starset has helped me thru so much!
This is my favorite song from the 3 pre-releases so far. The chorus is just.. *chef's kiss*

"I still fall for you like suns do for skies" .. I goddamn love this line!
@@cefrinaldi8060
You make a good point.

This song seems to compare falling for someone to the beauty of the sun setting, a hollow moon & such. Such a gorgeous song, musically & lyrically.
That is foolish thing to do. You don't know the devil yet.
I absolutely love the fact that the music video teases the symbols for other songs in HORIZONS (1:08)
This feels like Transmissions Starset, but cranked to 'overkil', even though that's impossible for the band.
It also feels like Vessels with the synth and chorus
Can we talk about how good the line "a tranquil sea on all horizons" is? For a song that's ostensibly about viewing the Earth from the surface of the Moon, the landing site of Apollo 11 was in Mare Tranquillitatis, aka "The Sea of Tranquility". Such a clever inclusion, that.
Also "I stare at starless skies" - even during the lunar night, on the Earth-facing side, the Earthshine and its reflection against lunar regolith is still bright enough to drown out the light coming from other stars, causing the sky to look totally black.
"I fall for you like suns fall for skies" had got to be the most poetic way to say sunset.

Perfect songs for me

"I still fall for you like suns do for skies" is probably the most magnificent sentence ever created
Bates’ vocal range is INSANE!
It's not that his range is that wide.... it's that his melodies give that appearance....and that he does a very good job of writing to his vocal strengths.
Demonios!! Como amo su música ojalá más gente los conosca y sepan de lo que se están perdiendo porque todas sus canciones son geniales no hay una que no me guste... Arriba starset!
Apenas los descubrí son la polla con cebolla 👌🏼😎

Listening to this and Icarus at full volume going 75 down a highway is a religious experience
"At night the earth will rise
... And I'll think of you each time I watch from distant skies." Starlight

"At night the Earth will rise and I'll think of you each time I watch from distant skies; whenever stars go down and galaxies ignite, I'll think of you each time they wash me in their light and fall in love with you again"
I think we can all agree that the song, as always, is insane. But can I please high-five whoever keeps making these amazing visual videos, because I LOVE them
Esta banda merece alcanzar las estrellas.
Comentario infravalorado.
Sadly my friends aren't starset fans and so I have no one who will share with me the happiness about the new songs but now I read the comments and I am so glad how much people love the same band and the same music this great band make and really it made my day great.
And if course I will hear the album again and again and again today XD
same, though I did manage to get my cousin and sister to listen to them, and my sister always joins me for their concerts even if she's not as big of a fan as me(:
God bless you bro

I've had the pleasure of seeing this band live 6 times (with no plans to stop any time soon), and I've gotten to hear this song twice. Each time, I began to tear up because of how much this song means to me.
I love space....I love Starset....what more could I ask for?!
