I don’t agree with what you said at the beginning but I’m glad you said good things about inside out 2 because I’m so worried to see it. I personally thought the original was amazing.
Just saw it last night, and you did a pretty good job of summing it up! I would say though I think the plot should’ve been like maybe a 6, but it’s not my review video! Besides that GREAT JOB!
Hot Take, but it shouldn't be: Inside Out 1 was great. I loved the world-building and the plot was focused. Inside Out 2 was genuinenly a very very VERY bad movie. The plot was unfocused, the humor was awful, and the additions to the world-building were okay at best and genuinely stupid at worst.
@@ChiangKai-Shrek interesting position… I will concede right away that the additions to the world building was inconsistent and broke the film. So, technically the first film has better world building, but I would say it’s still garbage. Having the emotions control Riley’s actions was a horrible decision. As for the plot, I couldn’t disagree more! The first movies plot is horrible. There are so many side quests that don’t make sense and basically every emotion becomes an idiot half way into the movie. (Example: Joy and Sadness should not have considered getting off the train of thought-this extends the film by at least 30min) Of course the comedy is very subjective. I didn’t think it was anything spectacular. Just decent/good👌🏻 but I won’t argue with anyone who didn’t like it. Thanks for commenting! I know Inside Out is a very beloved film. I might do a video on it eventually… I usually prefer to do reviews of films I enjoy if do an older one. But we’ll see.
@@babygiraffe53 Thanks for the response! I guess, I'll add my two cents as well: I disagree with the point about Riley being controlled by her emotions being a bad thing, because it makes sense for someone her age. You can see that Riley's parents' emotions were a lot more cooperative, while Riley's emotions didn't really get along. It makes sense because children have a hard time controlling their emotions. I personally look at the emotions in more of a meta sense, they aren't different from Riley, as much as they're another facet of Riley's consciousness. As for the plot of the original, I don't really think there were that many "side-quests," in fact I thought that the movie was way more tightly written. The reason why Joy wants the train of thought to start moving was because she wanted to get back to HQ as quickly as possible, she just didn't think ahead, which is a flaw of her character. I wouldn't say that they are idiots, rather they're as naive as a child would be. As for the second movie, the plot itself is okay, it's the pacing that makes me dislike it so much. Like when Joy and the others are stuck in the memory dump with no way to get out, Joy pretty much resigns herself to the fact that she might not make it back to headquarters, this is pretty much a direct parallel to a scene in the prequel. However, unlike the previous movie, the scene doesn't rest, instead they just call on Pouchy, who saves the day immediately. The scene has no time to ruminate in our mind, and I find it really frustrating. This isn't an isolated example btw. Also, besides Riley who I will admit is more interesting in 2, Joy, and Anxiety, all the characters suck. Neither the old not the new ones get to do much of anything. This would be fine if they were funny, which again they aren't (imo). I consider the ending to be a bit of a cop-out. Why does Riley get on the team after she was an active nuisance to her own team? (I know they make it a bit ambiguous, but Riley's excited face says it all) Whatever happened to facing consequences? And how is she close with Val's friends as well as Brie and Grace? Val herself was fine, but her friends actively made fun of Riley's interests (i.e. that scene where Riley has to pretend to not like some band) and the movie never really calls them out on it? That's kind of a bad message imo, that you should just hide your true self and let people trash your interests for being "childish" So yeah those are my thoughts, but I would love to know what you think of the original Inside Out in a video. Frankly I'm a bit surprised that you liked the sequel because I thought that people wouldn't get much out of it unless they were fans of the original to begin with.
@@ChiangKai-Shrek I completely agree with what you said about the emotional climax in the memory dump. It’s not giving any time to set in then anger has a solution to get back to headaches right away. And I hate the fact she seams to make the team at the end. It makes 0 sense! And I would argue goes against some of the films themes. The film’s not amazing, but I think it has some interesting ideas that were explored pretty well. (Riley’s choices with and without anxiety and how every decision builds off of one another) I think it might make it into my Pixar’s top 10… but just barely. It’s definitely not close to The Incredibles or Ratatouille, I don’t know why it made so much money🙃

i loved this movie, honestly i would give this a 8/10. 6/10 for plot, its pretty good
I’m glad you loved it. Just curious… what did you think of the first Inside Out and its plot?

Thanks for the review lmao very interesting.. I wouldn’t have noticed 99% of it
I can’t wait to see it today!
I think this movie is as good if not better than the original
I like the Mickey Mouse clubhouse references
Inside out 2 is way better
