does moving players around the formation, i.e moving the wingers closer to the striker, actually impact player positioning in the game? I feel like it doesn't make a functional difference =/
it definitely does, fullbacks are probably the best examples. if you put fullbacks all the way out but keep them on inverted they will still somewhat hug the touchline but just make underlapping runs. putting them closer to midfielders turns them into proper inverted fbs
