She had eaten 3 of them by that point and said they were good. The fourth one was obviously not right and that's when her brain went 'what did you put in this??'. And I think she suddenly remembered last year when MatPat was trying to eat a Christmas tree.
Yeah, that one was great. Shame I only played Frostpunk after watching that episode, would have hit differently if I had played it before. ^^

There's a dish called chicken in cola, which is basically chicken curry but with cola and ginger. Haven't had it since cooking class in middle school, but I remember it as being okay
Also, consider how easy it is to make if you get a class of 13 year olds to make it
The mentos is the problem here.
It's like that dude who kept using Frisk (Japanese mints) in his cookings for a Gaki no tsukai "I want to try that" cooking series. The mint just overpowers EVERYTHING. XD
It's the mentos that ruins the taste. Peppermint overpowers almost every other taste making it incorrigible especially in that amount.
Cola adds a nice ish sweet caramelly taste but not the mentos ew
@@kittenmimi5326 yeah, coca cola is basically sugar syrup when cooked which is fine. Delicious even when used properly.
Mentos is harder to handle as peppermint isn't that suitable for food, but better taste when used as drinks or stuff like ice cream.
One thing I love about Haachama is her use of unusual ingredients as it drives me to be more creative. It's actually pretty fun recreating her cooking with actual edible ingredients.
At 3:40 when the captions say "laughs with diabolic intent" I read "laughs with diabetic intent" and thought to myself: yup, that's about right

My mom uses sprite to marinate chicken sometimes (sprite with some pepper, salt, sugar, and all that though) or use it on a dish that has broth and it taste good. But I dunno about coke with mentos though lol.

Don't use mentos.
Sauteing shrimp, butter, ginger and garlic with a splash of Sprite to reduce is pretty good too. Don't use Mentos
Fun fact: Mentos just reacts with coke light. Won't explode as much with regular coke.

I kind of want to try the second effort, but with the addition of sichuan peppercorn and some thai basil. I'm thinking the numbing spice and pepperiness might maybe offset the mentos a little?

Coca-Cola could actually be used as a sauce ingredient. Since it's just sugar it could be a replacement of Honey or sugar.
Mentos though, no. That thing is not used for cooking.
The first one seemed like something Soma Yukihira would make as one of his nasty food dishes. The second one seemed like you trying to do the Erina treatment to make it work like how she integrated it (Soma's PB squid) into her dish during the Team Food War she did with Soma, but obviously you failed cuz you aren't Erina. 😆

also I would like to humbly suggest an idea. shoot and edit a cooking video as usual, but also do a crazy quick cut fast paced edit of the recipe (like an exaggerated how to basic or Hachima but still properly done) and put it at the beginning of the episode. I will understand if this never happens because it sounds edit intensive, but I thought you might find the idea fun.

Meat on soda is sweet and tender which I do on adobo from time to time, and there's a meat dish with mint I saw from Chinese Cooking Demystified a few months back... but using Mentos is overkill.
I love marinating meat with coke. It's great... But the mentos is death.
Reminded me about Asterix in Britain. There the brits also cooked the Wild boar in peppermint sauce and Obelix were not very happy about it.

Fresh mint leaves are a very popular topping for Pho, so mint and beef isn't an uncommon flavor pairing! It's probably nothing at all like the mint of a mentos, but the pairing is a tried-and-true combo!

So, minty beef? Only dish I can think of is beef laab/larb Viet/Laos dish where a bit of mint can make the dish tasty. You'd definitely have to make it a bit saltier and add some rice powder and thai peppers and some lime.. I think you could eventually make it work with a lot of effort. But the way that is currently, I gagged just thinking of it and I have eaten a lot of strange things in my life.

In the south we use coke as a meat tenderizer. It good if you do it right. I think the mint kinda ruins it though

Ya know, box cake mix, canned pineapple, brown sugar, and instead of milk use Sprite soda pop and some of the pineapple juice from the canned pineapples. If you don't like canned pineapples use canned peaches instead. It's good both ways.
