Misogyny word seems to lose its meaning, when its always used on man who dosent like their stupid leftist, feminist, toxic and arrogant ideology where they think their right always. Why they waste time blaming men on Twitter like crybabies, when why dont they blame women, when 2/5 of their audience in the Marvels were women, so they should say women are also toxic for not showing up to watch the Marvels. This just Marvels own karma with how much they cry, when they decided to go political to ruin the Marvel superhero universe and now they cry like babies in Twitter, when Disney is getting closer to bankrupcy.
The problem is the actual sexist and misogynistic are among you, and their rhetoric stands out far more. While some, most, whatever it may be in terms of representation, provide intellectual criticism of a medium the opposition is reading the disgusting, hate filled posts by terrible influencers as well as the undeterred questionable response comments to otherwise fair detractors. When something is a battle between logic and emotion, emotion will always win. These people saying these things pray on their anger, their distaste and all the ones on the opposite side see is them to the point they associate the decent crowd with them as well. Is it right to take a point of view and attribute it only to those with ill intentions? No. They aren't angels in this either and should be more self aware of their judgmental tendencies. But understanding has to start somewhere. At some point someone with clout, or a large enough group of people, have to say enough is enough with the bickering. Let us make a consistent, persistent and genuine effort to show everyone who thinks we are horrible people that we aren't. Let's condemn those who clearly are terrible individuals even if they agree with our point of view in order to show we are different. In my sparse interaction with parties involved I have seen the vast majority of clearly sexist remarks not addressed by the better among you. That makes you look disingenuous. Hopefully this doesn't come across as an attack, but rather an attempt at stirring up some motivation for self reflection. I too don't want to have to put up with bad media, but as someone not actively taking a part in the discourse I can look at things a bit more objectively and attempt to steer this in the right direction. Nothing is lost in humbling yourself, only potentially gained. As is, attempting the screaming and shouting, and angry typing that has gone on is like doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
@@PathBeyondTheDark No, the problem is they make shit but then hide behind women or diversity when faced with the legit criticism that they make shit. One of the reason's I read comic books as a young boy in the early 60's was the limitless possibilities of the fictional world. It fueled my imagination and had identifiable characters. They should have played it smart and let the MCU rest for 5 years after End Games, to give the time for the audience to miss and have nostalgia for it, while giving them a good excuse for a soft reboot where all the old heads retire while a new generation built upon the recently acquired Xmen and fantastic 4, with a now adult Spiderman as a lead. But naaaaaaaaaah, they had to keep the gravytrain rolling until the wheel fell off.

Any company that thought spending a shed load of cash on The Eternals was a great idea has shown itself creatively bankrupt and if things go on financial bankruptcy will surely follow.
For context on how insane Hollywood has become think about this: when adjusted for inflation, the budget for 2001: A Space Odyssey is roughly $100 million. That film is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time and they needed to created brand new special effects and filmmaking techniques to make it possible. Yet, Disney can blow 3x that amount on one of their cookie cutter Marvel movies and still have terrible effects.

As Sylvie said to Loki: “It’s alright to destroy things sometimes.” The whole second season was so meta as in it was quite literally about ‘destroying Marvel.’
I don't need a movie to feel empowered. That's something that the individual needs to work on, through learning from mistakes, making good choices and always holding oneself accountable for one's actions.
It's really pretty insulting that Marvel thinks an empowered female character is a stern, stoic, bland bitch who when she does make mistakes is never called out for it and doesn't learn from them.
Not to mention sexless and loveless. Legs locked tighter than a closeted lesbian in a convent. These are the role models they want your little girls (and boys) to emulate.

Great video Echo Chamberlain! The level of detail and how you broke everything down is really good. I really appreciated as well what you said about us having to grow up, and to move on, to find things more suited to adult tastes. The thing I find saddest is that really, Marvel has lost the vision of what a true hero is. In a superhero genre, where Marvel became the poster child of said genre, there’s hardly a hero anymore because they are little better than a villain due to their egos, narcissism, plus their hubris and selfishness. It’s lost character and development, and what made heroes great, someone who inspired and we could still relate and empathize with. Someone who wasn’t perfect, they had flaws, but they strive to do what was good, the right thing. The heroes would rather run than risk or sacrifice. They are definitely not characters to aspire to be like. By turning to focusing on emotions and feelings, which for the record I in real life am all for in order to understand them, and manage them, to handle them skillfully, but absolutely do not support to the extreme obsessive lengths they have driven entertainment today, Marvel lost their sense of what right and wrong is. They wanted to make the villains “good” and have us pity them and understand their perspective, but in so doing obfuscated why villains are bad in the first place, to show why what they do is evil and wrong. It’s a foundational problem that infiltrates, and ultimately is destroying the things we all appreciate like solid character who are well grounded and developed, and a good well written story. Not perfect, but good. It’s a shame what it’s come to, but I believe you are absolutely right here that it is time to move on.

And if so, what the hell is wrong with them??" 😂😂
R.I.P Marvel we had great times together, I remember how inspired I felt by Iron Man into programming and becoming an entrepreneur, Captain America’s will to do what was right , Hulk having to be self aware and self controlled and able to control his anger and using it for good , about friendship and getting along with others, to never losing hope … great lessons & inspiration for all children and adults Replaced by woke feminism 😢 , writers with a hidden agenda to propagate gender swaps no longer focused on character development.. I will miss you 🫡
I didn't think the superhero fad was ever going to last forever. It was always bound to descend into irrelevance, either due to corporate stupidity or loss of audience interest or both. Just like how all those long-running sitcoms always turn to unwatchable trash in their latter seasons and are unceremoniously cancelled. People like to focus on the political agenda in Hollywood, but that's only a new wrinkle to a decades-old pattern of executives and producers ruining franchises. Even if there was no "woke" agenda, something else in the Hollywood system would have brought down the MCU. It was always bound to happen. I don't superhero movies are gone forever. There will be Batman and Spider-Man movies made ad infinitum. But this boom where Marvel could make a movie about any Z-lister and still make money is gone forever.
I appreciate the brevity of this video - sometimes youtube recommends me a video essay on the downfall of something but it's an hour and a half or two hours long. way too much for a throw away topic.

I watched this with my gf in cinema. I am into marvel, but she not and i would not say the movie was bad. It was good time for both of us. The problem is this movie is not very good, just ok to see when You want to see a superhero movie just now in cinema. I would say it was one better for me than most this year superhero movies, but problem is that it was not super good, and previuse bad super hero movies made the audience tired of this kind of films
Marvel/ Disney can blame Jonathan Majors all they want. But as a Marvel fan they lost me back at Wandavision. It took too long to make sense and was straight boring for the first 4 to 5 episodes. Most of the Disney Marvel shows were trash
As soon as I saw the plan for Marvels output after Endgame, I had a bad feeling. Even the titles "Love and Thunder", "Wandavision", "Quantumania" looked super cheesy compared to the previous ones. Also, the sheer amount of planned content was intimidating, seeing that now, in addition to the movies released every year or so, there was a deluge of shows to watch too, just to get the full story.
I agree with you on all the points mentioned, except Loki being bad. I thought that first season was brilliant and nice departure from CGI seazure endusing battles. I wanted to see more experimental content from Marvel in phase four, and Loki was truly original, philosphical take on life, choices we make, standing up for the right cause and sacrifice. Dialogue driven show that was quite satisfying. But I agree, that decline in quality can not be no longer overlooked. In my opinion, Loki is the greatest content they had produced in the last 5 years, then No Way Home (fan service done right with a twist) and Shang Chi- first 2/3 were great, but the ending CGI overload made me question, if anyone gets any thrills from watching the same shit over and over again

Watching Marvel is like that woman in the gym who has a phenomenal body and works out scantily clad but accuses all men being creeps when they look at her. In the end when everyone is tired of her feculence that attention she wanted (but pretended to not like) is gone for good. We can just hope.
I don’t think Marvel is done by a long shot, but do they need to regroup, absolutely. The best play after EndGame would’ve been to take an entire year to strategize. No movies or shows. Just a teaser here and there to build interest. Loki could’ve kicked it off, considering he was in End Game. We go right into the TVA drama and that takes where we go to next after the second season. Loki season 2 was awesome by the way. Majors and Huddleston were really good definitely in that last episode. Making Wandavision be the first show and continuing to bash everyone over the head with more and more content wasn’t the right play. With that said, I think Deadpool may be the only movie next year, so hopefully they can chill out, regroup, and give us something good with Blade while we slowly get to another Avengers movie. Bring the old Avengers back for a final Kang battle and reboot the system completely. That’s a good plan I think, but they won’t do it, so it doesn’t matter.
When you take into consideration that David Hasselhoff's portrayal of Nick Fury is 1000% more accurate to the source material than Samuel L Jackson's, and the overestimated longevity of geek culture's mainstream appeal were very early signs the genre was doomed.
They want the soapbox of the celebrated hero. But the ethos of the hero's evolutionary journey, and their interests of being validated just as you are, are not compatible. The latter is a different type of story.
Excellent, intelligent and well considered video. Everything you stated is true…but, sadly, I can’t see Marvel - or Disney - changing it’s tune anytime soon. Loved the trumpet version of “Time To Say Goodbye” playing in the background too. Lol.

And IF they started hiring people that respect the source material and know what they're doing without trying to force an agenda, I think we could go back to the fantastic box office returns they once had. But nobody wants a multiverse story or Kang story. And nobody wants our heroes dragged through the mud.
If the MCU were to become as successful and popular as it was pre 2020, it would be one of the most amazing and remarkable comebacks of all time.
@@PathBeyondTheDark No, the problem is they make shit but then hide behind women or diversity when faced with the legit criticism that they make shit. Neither female or diverse movies are anything new. Pretending they are, and then attacking the audience because the movies are shit however is new. It's the last resort of a dying industry dying precisely because those in charge are both incompetent and too arrogant to admit it.
The Loki TV Show made me actually kinda excited for the Kangs. Especially the newest season.
By the end of your videos I feel like I need two things, 1) a dictionary, and 2) an anti-depressant.
maybe a good cry
Just watched Drinker's new video about the failing MCU. Love seeing videos like this.
Marvel is experiencing the Star Wars treatment.
One of the reason's I read comic books as a young boy in the early 60's was the limitless possibilities of the fictional world. It fueled my imagination and had identifiable characters. Marvel has truncated their horizons by pandering to the limiting and constricted PC culture that has only one narrative and a gynocentric universe that leaves nothing to the imagination. When you know what the plot, story line and outcome are and have shallow thinly veiled characters with which you can't identify or are likeable, there's little to enjoy. It's like trying to squeeze mercury in your hands, there is nothing to grasp onto.
Powerful similes towards the end there.
The Chinese reviews made me chuckle.
damn dude, the ending was a bit too savage 🤣🤣🤣
A firm slap from a finely manicured hand. Well done ole chap.
Man, that's a lot of pithy content packed into 13 minutes. Well done.
Is it just me or does Echo Chamber sound like the ill-fated Vincent Nigel-Murray (Ryan Cartwright) from Bones?
The fall of the MCU is nothing short of baffling and unbelievable
That "how does it feel to have lived long enough to see all the franchise you ever loved get run into the ground" clip for RLM have never been more relevant.
@@Pers0n97 💯
Was talking to my mom about this earlier. I used the exact same word. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know what other word to use
@@_reigner 💯RIGHT?!
It was never going to last forever, but how rapid its decline has been is pretty remarkable.
Any company that thought spending a shed load of cash on The Eternals was a great idea has shown itself creatively bankrupt and if things go on financial bankruptcy will surely follow.
The Eternals was terrible
For context on how insane Hollywood has become think about this: when adjusted for inflation, the budget for 2001: A Space Odyssey is roughly $100 million. That film is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time and they needed to created brand new special effects and filmmaking techniques to make it possible. Yet, Disney can blow 3x that amount on one of their cookie cutter Marvel movies and still have terrible effects.
@@fattiger6957Further proof money will never replace passion and genuine talent. There are people on TH-cam creating stuff these big budget studios fail at with hundreds of thousands times the money and that's honestly insane.
Today at all Disney Studios, right this moment and next week also, "creatives" continue to hammer square pegs into round holes, expecting a different outcome.
Video games have far better writing than most “blockbuster” films, these days.
Isn't that the sad truth.
Truly
Absolutely!
I love how rolling stone writes "Here comes the culture wars." As if those who recognize it and critique it are responsible for the culuture wars they encourage and push.
I'm so sick of the obvious gaslighting by these outlets.
The "creative" minds needed someone to talk to them like this during the proper stage of development.
This was so well written, argued, spoken, and edited, you inspire me as a creator to "do better." And that is the best compliment I can think of.
I was thinking the same about James Bond with the generations thing. it was gold for kids up to the 80's, and tey will have brought their kids to them. Now Bond is something for their dads, Mission Impossible is sort of their Bond
Excellent video. Your writing always makes me self conscious of my own 😂
The biggest problem for the studios is that they have nothing in their place. They allowed these kinds of films to suck up all the energy and money on the table for 15 years, and now there are no small or medium-sized budget films and little if anything that is not tied to this kind of schlock. You might occasionally get a Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but it can't compensate for all *this*. And heaven help you if you think a new Tarantino could arise in today's entertainment landscape. They literally have no choice but to continue pumping out this stuff because it's all they have in the cupboard Your analogy of junk food consumption is spot on. It's because they don't see the audience as fans. They see them as consumers. Make a Marvel movie with Easter eggs to make people see the next Marvel movie. With Star Wars it's. Make a Star Wars show that mentions better Star Wars stuff. Nailed it once again. It boggles my mind every time I hear anyone say we must be misogynistic if we don't like these movies. I LOVED Alita Battle Angel from 2019. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of my favorite shows of all time. Even from the 1970s, The Bionic Woman had some amazing episodes. Doomsday is Tomorrow where she has to battle an AI trying to destroy the world is just as good today as it was then. And obviously from Yvonne Craig as Batgirl, and Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, there's a very good reason why those characters are still popular today. And for what it's worth, yeah Ms Marvel was actually a pretty decent show. It was absolutely not made for me, but I watched it out of curiosity, and it has a good story with a decent heart. The end is a bit Home Alone-ish, and her powers are kind of lame, but it was written pretty well. And I think overall, people are eager for these movies to be a success. But it's like being in an abusive relationship. We keep getting disappointed. Badly. I enjoyed Blue Beetle recently. It wasn't great, but better than what MCU has been giving us. And... This is a very low bar, but The Marvels is better than Quantumania, Thor Love & Thunder, and Eternals. Oh, Marvel has a LOT of cringe. But there are threads of a decent idea somewhere in it. As Sylvie said to Loki: “It’s alright to destroy things sometimes.”
The whole second season was so meta as in it was quite literally about ‘destroying Marvel.’
I love this channel. Right up there with the Drinker and Nerdrotic ! 👌🏽💯
The only channel I more often than not hit like and then hit replay, just to bask in the glory of quality writing
Sir, that was *poetic.* Thanks!
I don't need a movie to feel empowered. That's something that the individual needs to work on, through learning from mistakes, making good choices and always holding oneself accountable for one's actions.
Well, at least Loki got a great ending.😓 They gave us that much.
DAMN that was EXACTLY ON POINT! Excellent!!!!
"Equal contempt for both it and yourself" beautifully put
You win the award for most poetic and harrowing closing diatribe I have ever heard in my life. Bravo!! 🎉
I just watched the Ms. Marvel tv series, and it is better than expected. Nothing like the movie of The Marvels and much better. No wonder the young Ms. Marvel was the best character as emotionally played in The Marvels.
Yeah but woman+non-white=bad coz it's just an agenda and also marvel
I've been looking for a great video to see this dude's story and this is it! Thank you for the fantastic rundown of his journey. You earned a sub! 👍🏽

Perfectly said and so say we all!🫡
Best video on all of this I've seen. Great job!
This essay reminds me of that closing comic store, where the manga shelf is bare, the wargame shelf is nearly empty, and the DC/Marvel shelves are near full.
Target Audience of new Marvel movies is teen girls. Disney fails to realize 90% of women in general don't care about super hero movies
The trumpet was appropriate, with those analogies it felt like a funeral durge.
Those descriptions at the end were amazing.

Not only did you absolutely nail it but those last 3 minutes were fucking peak illustration, hilarious and with sprawling works that evoke so many infective emotions 👏 definitely subscribing from that alone
I’ve got to say although drinker and nerdrotic got me to echo and the despot I think both of you guys are the best. A much deeper more intelligent critique of the culture and media bravo to your work.

10:25 is perhaps the best analogy I’ve ever heard in a TH-cam video. Well done my friend 🤝🏻
EXCELLENT, very well spake review. But I must admit: my favorite part; the part that had me laughing pretty well; was the bit with the mordant Chinese reviews 😂. I like to imagine Chinese people in the theater, staring dumbly as the movie ends being like, "....What.... the f*ck was THAT? Is this what ALL Western media is like? And if so, what the hell is wrong with them??" 😂😂
Loki S2 at least had the cast giving good performances
I love that the ad that led into this video was for The Marvels 🤣
R.I.P Marvel we had great times together, I remember how inspired I felt by Iron Man into programming and becoming an entrepreneur, Captain America’s will to do what was right , Hulk having to be self aware and self controlled and able to control his anger and using it for good , about friendship and getting along with others, to never losing hope … great lessons & inspiration for all children and adults
Replaced by woke feminism 😢 , writers with a hidden agenda to propagate gender swaps no longer focused on character development..
That roach analogy was excellent!
Great video!
Very well written and observed.
Nooo! The M-She-U still has... black girl magic! Nick Fury himself said so.
That Madame Web thing has to be trolling. Srsly, how deep was the vault in the MCU Mines of Moria that they hauled that b-roll out from?
the audience when I saw it was like a funeral, totally silent
You British are so talented with words, I was laughing 😂 so hard on "over eating chips guilt", sex with overweight GF, & teenage masturbation. Just pure Brilliance 👍 👏 👏 👏
I’ve seen you about, Echo, but subscribed based on the superb quality of this particular video essay. Well done, mate.
Great video !
The fact phase 5 films still made a ton of money is sad. It wasn’t until The Marvels that the films started to fail. This should have started failing since eternals.
That is the problem with those long running series; people who made them just don't know when to stop !
You should have 30 times the subs you have Echo. I am always pleased to see the notification you've posted a new video and thrill to tap play.
Amen brother. Very well articulated. A+
Andrea Bocelli...I had to flip over from playing Ark when I recognized the background music. Love that song.
Marvel/ Disney can blame Jonathan Majors all they want. But as a Marvel fan they lost me back at Wandavision. It took too long to make sense and was straight boring for the first 4 to 5 episodes. Most of the Disney Marvel shows were trash
Brilliant.
It's spot on en very eloquent.
🎉🎉🎉❤
As soon as I saw the plan for Marvels output after Endgame, I had a bad feeling. Even the titles "Love and Thunder", "Wandavision", "Quantumania" looked super cheesy compared to the previous ones. Also, the sheer amount of planned content was intimidating, seeing that now, in addition to the movies released every year or so, there was a deluge of shows to watch too, just to get the full story.
The Marvels is a young someone's first cinematic Marvel movie experience. Ugh.
Fucking brilliant, this may be your best vid yet. Bravo.
Holy shiite, the last few minutes said it all. I don't need to watch another video about this anymore, that was the perfect, final nail. Cheers...
Kudos to the ending
To me, this essay is a flawlessly executed orbital bombardment upon preselected cities, with absolute precision... rendering absolute devastation.
Echo Chamberlain::... As far as I'm concerned, you, dear sir, are indeed... _a bona fide _*_genius_*_ with the written word; you should be ((rightly)) deemed a _*_maestro!_*

How you ended this video is exactly how a hardcore drug addict feels, too real and too true!
best spliff analogy I ever did hear
Wow. A+ essay!
As the fella said, "what goes up, must come down."
True
When you take into consideration that David Hasselhoff's portrayal of Nick Fury is 1000% more accurate to the source material than Samuel L Jackson's, and the overestimated longevity of geek culture's mainstream appeal were very early signs the genre was doomed.
What a Send off at the end...... Kudos
Excellent meta yet in-depth slicing of the Spitegeist, Sir!
Eloquently poetic.
💯💯
They want the soapbox of the celebrated hero. But the ethos of the hero's evolutionary journey, and their interests of being validated just as you are, are not compatible. The latter is a different type of story.
Excellent, intelligent and well considered video. Everything you stated is true…but, sadly, I can’t see Marvel - or Disney - changing it’s tune anytime soon. Loved the trumpet version of “Time To Say Goodbye” playing in the background too. Lol.
