unbelievable that you could hear the fighting at the somme in london. It must’ve been unbearably loud on the battlefield.

I was also taken aback at that detail.

Imagine being hammered by artillery for several hours... well done documentary.

These early tanks always have a creepy aesthetic to them compared to modern tanks. I think it’s their crude construction and the context that there was literally no other machine like them, even aircraft were over 10 years old by then so it creates something quite alien in nature.

This video was made before I started studying history at University and uses poor methodology. Much of it heavily references Wikipedia and maybe a TH-cam video, but I don't remember anymore. This video is not a reliable source of historical information.

Glad you said that. The first day of the Somme was warm and dry, it only got muddy later in the battle, which ended in November 1916

“Say no more. Let us focus our intelligence resources elsewhere.”

У Русского инженера Лисякова тоже был проект ромбовидной гусеничной боевой бронированной машины - прообраза танка.

30kg of gear is a crazy amount for storming a trench they would of been better off going in dressed like Ned Kelly I would of liked to see that.

Imagine carrying all that shit on you when your only goal is to move fast and kill every living thing opposing you. No wonder so many people died. I heard some even drowned in mud pits during battles at Pashendale.
