    The quins tries were agony to watch as a bristol fan - but the analysis of them is fascinating! Love this channel.

    All great, but 4 the best for me. The timing of the two blocker plays was perfection. Deserved the fist bump! Great as always Geraint, thank you

      Yeah I'm leaning towards number 4, too! It's just so slick and clean and multiple positions getting involved in the action too!

    Im a Quins fan so obviously enjoyed the game and the reason i clicked, however this is just about the best actual rugby analysis of 1st and 2nd phase moves that I have seen. Thank you and great work..................... I might be pinching this for when I coach my under 15s :-)

    At times I find it hard to differentiate between 'blocker' runs, obstruction and crossing - is there an easy way to differentiate eg. obstruction involves deviating into another players path and making contract whereas a blocker run doesn't involve contact ? I pity the players having to read these beautiful moves in real time. Great skill by them and great analysis by you , thanks Geraint.

    • @GeraintDaviesGDD
      @GeraintDaviesGDD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for taking a look, Tom. It is tough to differentiate. The basic principle is that a player must be a genuine option to catch the ball at the point the ball is passed. So when the ball is then in flight the fact that the lead runner is now in front of the ball is legal provided they do not actively try to impede player i.e run into them.

    • @chrisperceval193
      @chrisperceval193 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GeraintDaviesGDD I don't know if this is how the union refs judge it but in league the lead runner must run at inside shoulders - if they do not get the ball they must pass inside the defender they were targeting. The sweep/trail runner must receive the ball outside the line of the lead runner. At least then everyone has clarity on what is a dummy run and what is a block.

    • @GeraintDaviesGDD
      @GeraintDaviesGDD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisperceval193 Hey Chris, there's no such ruling in Union. There's a need for the lead runner to be a genuine option & to not run into a defender if they don't get the ball!

    Sorry to comment again but just remembered. What did you think of Sheedys quick drop kick at the end that missed? No one on Comms was surprised or said anything about the “stupidity” of it so we thought it must have gone to the away side if there was a draw but apparently not. Maybe then the worst brain farts in rugby?

    • @GeraintDaviesGDD
      @GeraintDaviesGDD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely no need to apologise! Because Quins had scored more tries they would have won if it was a draw. So it didn't matter if Sheedy had the conversion or not. He was more concerned with hurrying so that they had more time to either score a try or get a drop goal or penalty to win it!
