or for that matter, a vid where every friend of his have to be nice to him. joel and grian might be the primary instigators but fwhip and sausage take almost as much pleasure in tormenting him as joel and grian while scott and pix have also started jumping on that bandwagon. being mean to jimmy is kind of a minecraft past time

I think the reason that builders remember their builds more is because it takes such a long time to go from concept to basic design to fleshing out the details and completing it. Something like a simple cottage could've been in someone's brain for ages while they tried to figure out how to put it into a certain theme in a series.
Yeah pretty much. I'm not sure how much time any of Jimmy's friends spent on fine-tuning their builds, but things like that make you spend at lot of time looking at that build. When it's done you'll know it inside out.
Yea, in any case, any creative process is quite a heavy cognitive process so the memory of it will stay somewhere in the back of the brain and reactivate when you see or hear the thing you made a long time ago

Jim's mistake was coping everything, he should have mixed up the colour pallettes and that might of helped a little.

This is a good practice for him recreating builds from just a picture..... And he will eventually learn how to build more afterwards.
Builders make these things by scratch, out of their own mind, and put it together specifically to show other people. I don't think there's any more concrete way to ensure something stays in your memory forever. Not to mention that these three have a very distinctive style!
I personally do think it's going to depend a little bit on the amount of effort put in. Few artists remember every little sketch, but I imagine that most remember every finished project.
A minecraft builder never forgets any of their projects Jim. That's the most basic builder code.

Its prolly cause gem still has her builds saved somewhere evem older one and he literally took one from a tutorial video thats hard to forget.
An idea for a mini series to help you get better at building: "Getting in the mind of builders".
Basically get your builders friends to join you in a creative world you talk and try to do a small build together, and they help breakdown their thought process and approach to building.
My first suggestion since you are a bit tighter with the HC crew now is BDubs, the guy is a building genius and always has good tips and outlooks with building and a great person to learn from!

This is honestly how you get better at building: look at what others have done, and try to recreate what worked for them
I agree i learn how to build from tutorials and recently got into japanese style builds
If you do a part 2, you should build your friend's builds but then a different person sees it. EX: Build a Joel build but show Grian. See if they can get it.
Jimmy thinking that any of his builder friends would possibly forget a build they made themselves is hilarious. Those builds are basically their children. You don't forget the time and effort to build your child of spruce and diorite and blood.

Next time: pick buildings like 5+ years ago, have them look at multiple builds to recognie their own, change the color palettes. Fun to watch!

As a Minecraft builder who has memory problems. I definitely would also remember all my builds. Especially because I do everything in survival so it takes more time.
a builder is very proud of the work theyve done and shared it to youtube/social media because that project is their baby. they will never forget. lol
I may not be a minecraft builder, but I do build in the sims! I’d recognise one of my buildings anywhere! I also draw, and I’d DEFINITELY recognise one of my art pieces no matter what. I may have awful memory but the artist memory, with the stuff you’ve created, is a whole other deal. It’s like that second stomach people claim to have for desert. It never gets full

I mean, the first was a copyright war and the other 2 were never causal builds but had dedicated tutorials, it is easier recognising it because between building it 5 times for recording and the huge times video editing can take... they have been staring at them for many many hours. There would have been a better chance with just a house from a village they made.
Well maybe, but also, I can promise you as a builder and not a TH-camr in the slightest, I could easily recognise any build I've ever made. Because what you have to realise, is even if it's not a video, or a main part of a build, it's a) something you're almost guaranteed to walk past a dozen times and study from a dozen angles while doing other builds around it, and also, effort goes into every build, time spent thinking about block pallets and shapes and texturing and detailing. So even if it only takes half an hour or something, you'll still have spent half an hour thinking about it intently and studying it closely for any ways to improve or change it.
@Samaya Hone Its like playing music. I didn't *try* to memorize Spring from the four seasons. But I've played it so many times over the years that I can play it note for note without sheet music.

I built The Great Pumpkin on Halloween of 2017. I sadly don't have that world anymore, but I remember it!
I also remember building a huge open air temple made out of quartz that year.
As a Minecraft builder, it makes sense they remembered immediately. I mean if you spend hours trying to construct something, you’re bound to remember that project for a long time.

What Sausage says is true. One can remember every house they built- I remember my first build... 2013, in the middle of a spruce forest- it looked something like Patrick the Star's house, except it was made entirely of Diamond ore blocks. I put down a bed, and a crafting table. And then proceeded to make a dog army. 17 dogs.
Every builder have their pwn recognizable style. Gem and Fwhip almost have the same style (and you can still distinguish their builds) . Sausages, however, has this very detailed style, HE LIKES barrels and campfires.
Idea for next episode: convince another youtuber/streamer who you haven't worked with before to join you for an episode!

What if, you attempted to complete redstone with a couple redstoners you know? Try to learn different redstone contraptions from some of your friends like Pixlriffs, Impulse, Tango, and (maybe) mumbo!

The fact that you picked the three people with the most recognizable signature style is questionable. I could look at fWhip and Sausages past builds and probably be able to correctly guess more than a few of them without ever having seen them before

I love how instead of just immediately going "That's my build", every single one of them started off being kinda sly about it like "Hmm, this looks familiar..."
For the next video, you should do one of those build battles *like Grian used to do with mumbo, and then call Grian in to judge.
*And not just the same concept, but it should be almost EXACTLY like one of those build battles, the only difference being the builds themselves.*

You took distinctive builds. I mean, the most colourful house of examples of fwhip's builds, Mythical Sausage's dangling house - I mean how many of his builds are dangling?, and a windmill from Gem when she has a plethora of cottages that might have melded into one in her memories. And two years back? I haven't even played Minecraft in two years and I remember every one of my builds as far back as 2014. Once you think of a concept, design it, build it, and live in it for a while, how can you not remember it? It's like your childhood home.
The fact that I still remember my narwhal on a hill from 5 years ago says us builders really are a different breed
would love a repeat of this but with grian and joel builds. Or better yet invite Grian onto a world where you complete the backside of a few of his bases and see if he notices they are completed
Even on worlds from five years ago that I never took a picture of and deleted I can remember those builds when you put passion into what you don't forget.
Here's an idea! Fight and defeat the Ender Dragon in hard mode, but Norman and Flick decide what armour/tools/items you use.
for next video, you could try to recreate your friends real life bedrooms, setups, houses or stream spaces in a minecraft build and see if they notice!
Next video, do an entire roleplay, pretending you’re Woody, and your friends being the other characters.
You should try it again (maybe with different people?) but instead of reproducing EXACTLY what you see, take a little more creative freedom and maybe change the color pallet to throw them off. Also recreating great builds is a good way to pick up a trick or two for your own builds in the future.
Sausage is right you never forget what you build I still remember when Hardcore was first added to the game I built in a Ravine and placed glass over the top and put down water on the glass so it was like a River, then I built a really bad cobblestone Tower and I had my Animals inside the tower, it was bad but I will always remember it.
I’m actually not sure, if I would be able to recognise all of my Minecraft builds I’ve ever done - not that there’s really much, but I would probably still need some time to get a look at it closely before I could say if this was actually a build I did or if it wasn’t xD

Its probably like any other art piece, i dont think id ever forget one of my paintings or my sculptures. This is really cool though! You really are getting better too if youre just looking at the pictures and not the tutorials.
An idea for a video: 'spot the difference' maybe build 2 almost identical builds next to each other (with a wall in between), but with 5 (or more) differences and have your friends find the differences. Or maybe get a friend to build and you try to spot the differences (or both!) :D

What you should be doing is doing things to torture them. So, how about this. You torture them by having a building competition. This is no ordinary competition though. Can confirm, there is a house I built in an old friends server that I haven’t seen for close to a decade and I can probably build it block for block. Finding a similar valley to build it in would be the hard part
you should try and make your friends do the interior of the house they built a few videos ago, but without talking or communicating with each other in anyway, and they all have assigned rooms.
If you can do such great copies from just a picture, you are ready to look at pictures of real houses or cabins, forts, or whatever and make them in Minecraft now. Wow! Good job.

as an artist i remember most of my art (except from when i was a small child) so its probably the same for builders, its just something you created and it sticks with you
I have a really scuffed memory, but there's just something about minecraft builds, I think I would always recognise every last one, even the little temp bases in the sides of hills. One idea for trying to trick people though, is to put it in a completely different biome. eg mountain to riverside desert, flat plaines to mesa hillside, swamp to iceberg.
I love Jimmy...he killed me when Gem asked if he didn't remember his builds, his answer was a resounding no. And no one can hear Fwhips laugh and not love it. Just saying.
