      That's because the men aren't nearly as insecure and self conscious of their physical appearance as the women. Society, especially back then, has done horrifying damage to women's self esteem. And to men also in different ways
      Edit: I didn't realize that the husbands were also agreeing with them. That's messed up

      I dont necessarily think that their fiances agreed with their ideology that they need cosmetic surgeries and procedures in order to be worthy. I think that these women have mental health issues that include major trauma and insecurity, and their fiances / soon to be husbands love them and just want them to be happy... whatever that may entail. I have never had cosmetic surgery, but I have had procedures at some points in my life when I felt i needed it and my boyfriend just wants me to be safe. That being said, I would NEVER go to these lengths. Boundaries and security within yourself is important. Everyone has flaws. Its unavoidable. Even when all procedures are said and done. YOU have to live with yourself and still have to learn to be happy with yourself. You'll always be both beautiful to some eyes and maybe ugly to others, but you cant let that shape your self image. No matter who you are in this world!

Many people think about it carefully for years and years before they decide to commit to getting plastic surgery. Also a lot of conventionally unattractive people are insecure because they are bullied and treated worse compared to conventionally attractive people, so they’re not insecure about their appearance because they’re superficial 😐

    • @janayahbug117
      @janayahbug117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      when you do beauty pageants, especially from a young age… its really hard to stop comparing yourself to everyone and everything. these women unfortunately carry that competitive energy everywhere they go, long after the names are called and the trophies are won. its really sad.. being beautiful really has nothing to do with conforming.. quite the opposite actually & i hate how long we’ve let that confusion fester

    • @carolinecrigger9525
      @carolinecrigger9525 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I think the constant comparing yourself to other women and people valuing you for your beauty would definitely contribute to insecurities especially as you age. Your beauty and persona are your "talents" and the thing you're competing with and the need to constantly improve and be the best has been ingrained into beauty queens usually from a very young age unfortunately. Being a girl just living is often already like that but adding an actual competition with crowns and trophies on top of that would definitely have ruined my perception of myself. A family friend is an ex-Miss America and she has had a lot of work done despite her being out-of-this-world beautiful even now in her 50s (she's also a judge so honestly an all around 10/10).

    If I had a fiancé, and he didn’t first object to me going on this show, I would genuinely think about reconsidering getting married to him all together. This show is horrible! There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of these women’s appearances. They’re beautiful the way they are. Also, why do the men never have to get the plastic surgery? Can’t they go through that medieval torture- Achem, sorry, I mean, ‘leg surgery’ to make them an inch or two taller if they’re ‘too short’.…? No, but seriously it’s fucked up regardless. Men shouldn’t have to go through that either.
    Because I know I wouldn’t want the man I’m going to marry to feel like he needs to change himself to please me. I would want him to love himself for who he is, because that’s the person I fell in love with in the first place.

      It’s crazy! They put beautiful women on television calling them ugly and highlighting everything that makes them unique to get rid of/change it. I can’t understand that guy seeing a roomful of perfectly normal women beautiful in their own ways and wanting to make them all look less like themselves and more like an imagined ideal of beauty. I don’t have a problem with elective surgery but I definitely don’t trust surgeons who make a career out of telling normal people they’re flawed. If nobody has “flaws” - bigger noses, flatter boobs, more stomach rolls, creases in their skin - then what’s the point in being different people? My favorite thing about humanity is finding beauty in people we love. Regardless of what the beauty/cosmetic surgery industry and reality television portray, beauty is different for everyone. And normal people are beautiful!!

      The question is why someone wants to do it. It's similar to the argument for makeup as something someone "wants" to do, when we're all pressured into wanting to look a certain way and change certain things about us by societal standards and expectations.

    • @JaazBegonias
      @JaazBegonias 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      People should be able to do what they want BUT they shouldn't be pressured in to wanting to meet societal beauty standards in the first place. Especially considering women make up anywhere between 70-90 percent of all cosmetic surgeries. (Though the number of men getting cosmetic enhancements is continuing to rise).

    • @KreeZafi
      @KreeZafi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@KreepyKat911 Completely agree! People can do whatever they want, but it's sad when they do it "for the wrong reasons" (generally societal pressure, sometimes pressure from friends or even partners). I'm a huge makeup lover, but I enjoy it because it's FUN to do, there was a point in my life where I felt like I "needed" it and that was entirely the wrong reason to do it. Same with plastic surgery, if someone genuinely really wants it for themselves then go ahead, your body your choice, but it's so sad how many people feel the need to do it to fit certain beauty standards or whatever, that they feel there's something "wrong" with them
