Bigger important note, everything about the level design suggests you should be crouching around the nutcrackers. They even seemed to hear Arin when he was just walking around. I don't think anyone's mentioned this. Crouching probably works way better than walking.

He quotes a philosopher (I guess) called Jentsch, that says one of the ways of evoking the feeling of the uncanny is presenting something that we are not sure if it's an automat or a human. He talks about a story by ETA Hoffman where there is a doll that is very much like a living girl. The walking of the nutcrackers, in that very non-human but also not entirely robotic way, reminded me of that in-between feeling of the uncanny

If only there was a mechanic for sneaking... Like a crouch, that would reduce the noise you make so you can sneak... So ya dont make so much noise around the BLIND enemies. Shame that dont exist.
