it's OKAY that our voices are all built differently (the CHAOS framework for simpler singing)

      Many do it. I was watching a French one this week and he was doing the otter for cord closure. 🤷‍♂️

      Not specifically - I like Chris. I just have a chuckle when people bring in new animals each week as part of their practice... the "otter" is a new one ha.

    I need help connecting my voices. Im cracking. I have alot of trouble with those inbetween notes between my head and chest voice. I can hit really high notes or low notes but saying one phrase is hard. Like Jesus Christ Pose, I can do LOOK AT fine but ME i lose all my strength and start cracking cause its too low. I could sing it with chest voice but then i would never hit that LOOK AT. How can i work on this? nothing has worked so far

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, that's the point. Connect those suckers first on light, smaller sounds like OO and EE, then, bridge it out to your larger vowels. Part of the key is altering the vowel in the centre of these two 'voices' rather than just pushing up and letting it flip. There's a colour for each vowel in the middle of your voice that allows you to sing ANY sound. Try "IH" like "hit" or "bit" for the word "me". Best - K

      @@FoundationVocalStudio What do you mean connect those on smaller sounds like oo or ee? If i was singing a siren when im about to crack switch to oo? or should i be singing oo from the bottom all to way to the top of my range? Neither have worked

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RickyBascom I mean work on your slides on an OO vowel from head down to chest and back. If they "dont work" as you say, this is the problem - you need to work out why, otherwise this same issue translates into your singing. No exercise is a magic trick, it's all about MAKING the sound work and working towards mastering it. Best - K

    Simple. That is a powerful one. Can't tell you how often I used to mess myself up with overthinking all the "settings" before starting to singing and then absolutely jamming up.

    Awesome breakdown!! These things help so much, especially the singing quieter than you hear Chris Cornell or whoever sing on the record. For the longest time I was singing super loud and blowing out my voice, lately I've been connecting head and chest very well and compressing without pushing too much air, I've also been using vowel modification on every little word, learning to use good chord closure, not being lazy with my chord closure. Singing is hard, but singing should be fun and expressive and too not worry if you sound weird because that's the only way we learn new things is to try. Thanks so much 🙏 Keegan

    I was getting a lot of fun while signing. Alone in my basement or in karaoke parties. Then I joined bands and started lessons. Realized how bad I really was. Now I don’t have so much fun singing. I just realized how toff it is to be at the level I’d like to be. I’m going to gigs and I’m never satisfied.
    So it’s more a question of working and improving then having fun for me at the moment. Honestly if I don’t cross some barriers in a few months not sure I’ll be willing to continue 🤷‍♂️.

      So it becomes a question of drive and problem solving - do we accept the problem and live with it, or, do we look outside the box/try something completely different in our tone or words to find a solution? I get it, the frustration that can come with becoming a better singer simply isn't for everyone - just as Davey in the review pointed out, it's not just my experience, it's frustrating for us all. However, there definitely IS a light at the end of the tunnel, you've just gotta make sure it's not a train coming from the opposite direction... K

    why do people make such a big deal of the "jesus christ" vowel, its an easy one to do. What i struggle with are words like "and", other small words, i don't know where to place them in my voice. Also, one thing i've noticed is that I used to use a lot of air and effort to sing high, like I used to put more than the effort that i needed to, and that resulted in those weird faces while singing, but when i started learning grit and distortion, i figured out I dont need so much effort and air to sing girtty and distorted. if i put more effort and air into grit it just starts sounding bad.

      @FoundationVocalStudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Fairly sure you're talking about Man in the Box, where I actually mentioned Jesus Christ Pose by Soundgarden - very different story at a D5, and it was just a passing reference on my part. Also, many singers don't just find this stuff 'easy' like you, myself included - there's a process, and there's something to learn, yes, even from things you can just bellow without thinking. Perhaps there's a lack of finesse there that carries into your higher range, and your smaller words? The reason you lose your small vowels is because you're pushing, and you likely lose all front sounds, at least OE and EE - finesse, not force my friend. Best K

      @ayanbahukhandi1869 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FoundationVocalStudio yeah, actually I was taking about Man in the box, i find it easy, i just start with the note in head voice and then blend in my chest voice and the control the amount of air I use to produce grit and distortion. I have figured out I dont have to push so much to go higher, It can be done with ease too, and if i do it with ease I have much more control over how to I sing the words and vowels. Altho, I do think that the reason I cant sing smaller vowels is because I have severe underbite.

    Thanks for the great videos dude!Speaking of Jesus Christ Pose ...I actually find the high notes easy. It's the lower notes I struggle with. Anything around my bridge. A good example is the song Cochise in the chorus. The line 'take it out on me' seems too low for a decent mix and too high for chest. Totally stumped on that!

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey lucky you on the high stuff! So, don't do it as mixed voice, you're likely a Tenor - so, sing it in chest, but, cater for the vowel. Sing "take" as "EH" instead of "AY" and sing "me" as "IH" instead of "EEY". It's probably a middle point for you, so, add a slight "cry" to it like you're sad or complaining and it'll stretch up to pitch. Best - K

      @@FoundationVocalStudio AH I'm so glad I came across this comment, I'm a fairly high tenor and also break at the G4/G#4 region primarily, "adjust the vowel" rather than "do it in mix" gave me such a light bulb moment just then, so I won't be chasing a lower mix.. if im not mistaking what youre saying ofc, thanks!
