@ Tom and Bill needed each other to make it work. Bill needed the perfect foot solider to be an example for the team, and Tom needed a head coach that made him earn it every day. Tom would have sucked sooner if he had someone bow down to his every wish like the jets did for Rodgers. Bill is a great head coach who brings an unquestionable resumé. He has the support system and knowledge of the game to be successful. The only question is how will kids react. Will they feel drawn in or still prefer more well known programs.
I don't think other ACC coaches are going to just quit. The talent gap might take a while. One team runs the ACC. It would be nice if some of those other programs would quit making the ACC a laughing stock in football. Clemson needs to get out of that conference and into one that would put more money back in the Tiger's program (payouts). Most of those other programs aren't even trying to be competitive. Clemson constantly having to split their postseason money and TV revenue is why they want out of the ACC.
I'm seeing the need for contracts with players too. Perhaps Bubba Cunningham presents that to the NCAA ... it'd really help viewership some too i think. a lot of the life long college fans (particularly basketball) hate the portal. we loved watching skinny freshmen come in and watching them grow. the top 4 coaches in mens bball left recently over it. minimum 2 year contracts if a player makes X amount !
