I am a newbie quilter and have made 2 of your quilts now! Going in for a third. Scrapy/crumb is such a great way to gain confidence and learn to quilt and sew. Thank you for making these videos and I miss your Thrift store videos too! So grateful and greeting from Sweden!
I miss the thrift store vids too....New ownership of my Goodwill here in town has changed the craft section. I still go all the time...but there is nothing video worthy at all.🤷🏻♀️
Hey Tracy! Love the new phone bag project and your modeling of it at the end of your video! So nice to watch the snow come down and experience some of your fall/winter weather. Just not something we get to experience in So. Cal. unless we drive up to the mountains during a very cold winter storm from the far north. One of the things I really appreciate about your channel is that it’s not restricted to quilt sewing or garment sewing or small project sewing. The reason why you probably have 110K subscribers and your channel has grown so quickly is because you didn’t box yourself into a craft category corner. The term “sewing” could extend to several craft projects, which makes your channel so entertaining and educational to watch. Your subscribers don’t know what you’re going to do from week to week. I’ve learned so many things from your videos and can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store in the future. 🥰❣🤗
We had a huge snow storm this week...We lost power...I wasn't even sure I was gonna get a video out. California probably never sees snow.❄️ I have lived with icy snowy weather my whole life..... If I had to only sew one thing Dori....I would go crazy...I'm so happy that people still watch my vids even though they cover a multitude of sewing project genres❤️
Such a cute little purse. There are so many things to like about this simple sewing project, and one that I like is the fact that it allows you to use up some of the smaller pieces of fabric you have left over. And even though I know it had to be cold outside, you made it look like you were having a great, carefree time. It brought a smile to my face. Thanks for sharing your time and ideas with us...... Janet.
Yes! Nice little bag! My daughter bought me a small 'sling' at hospital gift shop while I was having hip surgery last week. If she hadn't I would try & make you small bag...it delightful! TY Tracey for sharing.
It was neat to see this small purse posted today as I made my first crossbody purse today from your video of 7 months ago. I watched that video at least half a dozen times as my mind thought of ways to change it a bit to what I needed. I used flowered denim jeans, no stabilizer, seamed 2 pieces at the center point to actually make the fabric longer than 42 inches, adjusted the measurements on the folds to make it taller and used wider fabric to give more space. I think it turned out about 10" by 10". I realized that if I used two colors, seamed at center like you did on this new video, it can be reversable. I'm going to do a button hole and sew a button on both sides of the front piece. Oh, and I played around while folding pleats and figured out how to add pockets to the inside and outside. Thank you so much for these videos, I loved them!!
You are so real. I love that! Makes me feel better when I remind myself nothing is ever perfect and you have to go with the flow. Thank you for that tidbit of life!
Oh wow, look at all that snow. Where I live it never snows, in fact our winter is only about 15 degrees Celsius when it's deemed by us to be cold! Tracey this is so timely. I love it. I am going to make one for my daughter's birthday which is coming up in December. I have been thinking about this for a while and yours is so nice. It will be just the thing for her when she takes the dog to the dog park and other places where she doesn't need to lug a handbag. Also it will be good to take your phone and keys when going for a walk. Humm, need to make one for myself too. Thank you.
It was such fun , making this bag! I did put pocket on inside. Today I received my cordless Panasonic iron, can hardly wait to use it! Never knew they existed before your videos, thanks❤
Thanks sew much! Just this past week I was telling a friend that I needed to make a phone case with a strap and tada here I found you and your instructions without even searching. I plan to make it soon. I think your case is fabulous and so are your detailed instructions. I might change the flap insert to a magnetic catch (since I have a bunch in my stash!).
Hi Tracy, update on your crossbody phone bag... I made one for my daughter for her birthday which is in a couple of weeks. It turned out very nice. I bought the perfect strap from a bag from our Op Shops, your Goodwill shops. I even practiced some free motion sewing on it.... well, let's just say it's good the colours all blended together and the less of the quilting you see the better. haha but still I'm happy with it. A friend has made some phone bags for her walking group after a nasty incident where it would have been good for everyone to have their phones with them, so now they can all keep in touch should someone get lost or have a heart attack! I am making one for myself as I walk alone in the park near us and if something happened....like I get bitten by a snake...it would be good to phone an ambulance and the hubby. Thank you for this great pattern.
The used purses at thrift stores are a great source of professional hardware that is often difficult, if not impossible, to find otherwise. Remove the hardware and it can be used for purses, totes, backpacks, crafts, etc.
Sew much fun, I had never FMQ before, you made it look so easy , I had to give it a whirl, really fun! Thanks & the Panasonic iron is so enjoyable to use.
What a cool project. I've got to change it up a bit to make it more man-ly but this is just what hubby needs for those days when he has to cart his phone around waiting for a call. Maybe just one hook (a carabiner?) to hook to a belt loop. Thank you for the great instructions!
Great little phone case. I hate fumbling with it all the time, but I don't like a purse either..this is a happy medium. Also, I loved seeing you frolicking in the snow. A true kid at heart. :)
i don't own a cell phone (only a land line). However, I have to work jobs where I have to leave my bag in plain sight (where someone could take anything in my bag, or the whole bag). A small cross-body bag (like this one) could hold my ID, key, cards, money and other small items; plus, it could stay on me under my sweater or jacket. This is another wonderful idea for making gifts for men, women, and children. It would be perfect for shopping, work, field trips, walking, day out at a park (or ball games) and for just keeping up with small, very important, items (inside larger bags). Thank you for another great idea.
Cute phone case! With all those folds I wasn't sure how it would look when turned right side out. Your keys would fit nicely in there with your phone. And great tip on the strap! This will make a great gift/money holder for my granddaughters this Christmas! Thanks for sharing❤
I love this video. Thank you for making it. I have a question please. If you want to put a snap/magnet/Velcro other than that strap, do I just skip that step, and nothing else?
It just struck me at the end that this would be an excellent bag to make for carrying a telescopic umbrella, it might need to be slightly longer but that would be so useful x
I have really enjoyed your videos! And have made several items using your techniques. I am wondering if I could make this one the same width and about twice as long. Would I still use the 7 inch markings or add there? Thank you! 😊💕
This would really work under a coat, too. My granddaughter is active in winter sports. Would keep it safe while she’s running around, wouldn’t it? Thank you for sharing
This is a great tutorial and I can't wait to try it. My question is is do you think it would work instead of leaving the opening at the top to leave it on one of the sides? I don't have really good luck with closing those holes up without having it show it's specially on a curve.
Are you in Michigan? I live in the tip of the mitten and we had a huge snowstorm too! It is so pretty and makes it nice to look out the window while I all cozy inside sewing. Love your tutorials. Thank you!
I was wondering how do you have all those quilts hanging, looks like a lot of weight for one area. I like the side purse, thinking of making one for my neighbor, she has one she uses when walking her dog, but I noticed it looked a little worn. Her favorite colors..teal and red! I just finished a one seam bag for her for Christmas, the side bag will be a bonus I think.
I have one of those solid wood quilt racks...it's huge. (It's screwed into studs). I just take the corners of my quilts and feed them up through and clip on back.✅ I love red and teal! You are such a great neighbor Ann❤️❄️
@The Sewing Channel ok, I'm just not sure how far away from the bottom, to let's say the centerfront , once its finished to measure placement of letter before its finished. This is rather wordy, hope I'm making sense.
@@TheSewingChannel My granddaughters are older now I have like I think over 20 patterns for little girls dresses and all sorts of outfits I would love to gift them to you If you would accept them. @@TheSewingChannel thank you - must have missed it at the beginning. I think I’ll make mine a bit wider as my phone is bigger and only use the fusible fleece on the outer fabric and a medium weight on the lining. Love how you boxes the corners! Thank you

I made this the other day! Was just wondering how to go about using directional fabric
Sew 2 pieces in opposite direction. The 2 pcs together should add up to final size needed. ( I think lol. Do mock up to test✅ )
Love it. Thanks Tracy for sharing.❤️

How will I know which side is going to end up the outside color of the bag please?

How do you have your quilts hanging in the corner. Neat idea. I have enough to do that also if I know your method
I just wrap them up around the pole from the corner's of each quilt. The rack is an old wood quilt rack... nice and solid!!✅
