finally my akg k812 are starting to open up, i have about 65 hours of burn-in done, only starting to notice the change in sound now, using 24bit 192khz vinyle of pink flood pulse album, can really start to hear the details more now

That headphone sounds like crap to begin with. Muffled mid and highs. My friend's m50x still sounds like shit compared my $80 Incase Sonic after 1 year of usage, I thought its only the case of a new set.
Sorry bud those headphones are not very good for the price. I never owned M50X's but I heard them at CES and they were only a bit better than my M30X. The M40X actually sounds better than the M50X. My $25 Monoprice 16150 Killed my M20X and M30X, So yeah $25 cans beat $70 cans LOL
Stop saying that the ath40x is a better pair of headphones. They are different and which one you like better is a matter of preference. I am not saying the 50x is the best pair of headphones on the planet. But all things considered they are solid.
I found this burn-in-track quite useful. Managed to clear-up and remove some harshness from my NEW Pioneer HDJ-X10, Audio Technica M40X headphones. BUT THIS IS NOT A REMEDY! If you headphone sounds sh*t by default won't help much so don't expect wonders in sound quality no matter how long you play this video.
I partially burned-in some Sennheiser HD598 phones for a few days, but I turned around and just purchased some Philips SHP9500 phones, lol. Out the gate they sounded very nice mid and treble-wise, but I am burning them in to see how much more they can improve. Maybe I should burn these in longer. And the Sennheisers burned in quite well, but aren't as clear in some sections as the Philips phones, interestingly. I got a good deal on them, too, lol.
perfect for wearing playing in the background with music, if your office doesn't have sound masking. It keeps the external noise distractions away. BTW... burn in for speakers is BS. Worked in the Audio industry for over 2 decades.
+Kostya Tszyu you should burn them in for about 1 week. Do this recording at least 10 times. 1 8hr session isn't going to count. Some self proclaimed audiophiles claim even 100s of hours later that there headphones are still not 100% burn't in... lol I guess if you think of it like an engine then 100% is the day before it fails completely huh. Anyways once you have burned them in completely my recommendation to you is that you mark one of them with a dot from a pencil or marker. A/B the headphones and see if there is any perceived difference. Then ask a friend to use a randomizer site and alternately write headphones 1 headphone 2 back and fourth for a total of 10 entries. Randomize it and have that friend give you headphones in the order of the first 5 and have you explain anything that stands out to you. Your test will almost surely end up being that you didn't have a clue which was which but you might hear a difference. Just doubt you would be able to pick out which one had and had not been burnt in. I mean it's just odds to begin with. Almost everyone who decides they want to be an audiophile gets to call themselves that yet most of them can't even hear every frequency in a 1st grade hearing test (a difficult thing for anyone that is an adult to do).
+Burn In Channel Burning in my brand new Grado Prestige SR225i's right now. Vol. 60%, I turned the EQ on for this to boost the bass an treble by setting it to the classic "V" formation like a lot of armatures do lol....... I'm not sure if this experiment was entirely a smart move?, but I guess I will find out soon enough xD!!!...... What are your thoughts on me trying that?........ I would love to know?..... Yeah burning my sennheiser hd700 is going to annoy my parents in the morning when they go to work. They be like what's that sound? Then opens living room they'd think my new headphone is possessed or something.
After several hours of use I can say that they feel "broken-in" and more comfortable in a way, though it may just be me getting used to the sound of it. I guess just use them for a while, listen to some music and see if that makes it feel better in your ears.

yea man. all you're doing is loosening up the fibers that make up the drivers to make them more flexible. some people burn in headphones by playing a constant steam of music, at a slightly louder than normal volume, for their burn in. i'm playing this plus a few tonal frequencies for mine. going to try around 16 to 24 hours

do you start at low volume and increase with time? do you run these pink sounds at 50% or 60%?
