This works wonders for guitar amp speakers. I've played this video about 3 hours each day over the last 3 days, picking up where I left off the previous day to play the complete 10 hour video. All four speakers now have a sweeter tone compared to right out of the box. My '59 Bassman is a warm cozy blanket of tone now. Awesome!

It just loosens the stiff spider as it comes from factory. It's usually barely audible, but for critical listening, like sound work it can be important, but for just enjoying music it shouldn't make a major difference on most speakers. At most you might hear a slightly lower bass reach (lower frequencies able to be played), and the speaker will be a bit more relaxed so you might notice a softening of mids, but it depends heavily on what the speaker drivers are made of. The majority of it is people just get used to how their new speakers sound, and because of psycho-acoustics they think they now sound better, when the majority of the time the changes burn in do are barely measurable. The same changes of burn in happen during normal playback anyway, so if you're not using your speakers for critical listening and *NEED* them to be as accurate as can be, and don't want to play pink noise on your speakers for hours on end, it'll not negatively effect the speakers by not doing it.

I just got the JBL Partybox Ultimate. I ran for a few hours on 70% volume well not exactly as my IPhone volume was 70% and speaker volume was 70% so not sure exactly how that measures for overall volume percentage. Would my speaker be ok? Hope I haven’t damaged it. I did not hear any distortion or stress. I did play heavy bass music though with bass boast on. I am not sure but it did sound as if the sound was more fuller and deeper also. Please any advice I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.
@@dalesnale maybe Ill rub it through both done an hour on each so far in the car ? Just hoping once done the harshness of the fresh speakers will disappear
Please help with this query: I want to burn my big speakers for 30 hours, but can't make it in single session. Instead can I have 3-4 split sessions, will that help me get *at least near* single 30 hour session? Or that would be just of no use?
Splitting up the burn-in session is what most do. The sound need not happen continuously. Many do it when they are away from the listening environment once the medium sound level is established.
Realize to get any measurable benefits...you need to have a large cabinet or a subwoofer. Bookshelf speakers don't need to be burned in. Their spiders are not large enough to make an audible difference...since the cabinet is really in control. Better off padding your cabinet...if you think you need more or tighter bass...in a bookshelf.
you are wrong. We aren't trying to change the frequency response of the drivers. We are trying to relax the components. that's like saying you can't hear the difference between tube and solid state. if you can't, you aren't an audiophile and why are you even watching videos like this. My old speakers sounded WAY better after they had 300+ hours on them than the day I got them. Burn in IS needed on ALL speakers.
I am asking myself, if that can help breaking in and improve the sound of an acoustic guitar. When built from all wood they usually improve with time especially when played a lot. I gave mine a try with some noise just as yours and not only me thinks it improved sound and sustain - most notably in the lows and lower mids. Maybe there is a YTr out there who would like to proof it.
One never knows. My theory is that the guitar strings which typically create 170 pounds of tension between the bridge and headstock create exponentially more force than a speaker pushing sound waves against the guitar. A cool experiment would be to place the speaker on the guitar, though it might scratch it. Factors that alter the guitar sound over time include: the wood curing, the glues and finish hardening, the air and dust adding to the surface, the frets wearing and the bridge and nut wearing. On electric guitars the coils and copper change over time. There is probably more factors as well.
I can indeed confirm that this will improve your guitar tone. For about 3 decades now, the first thing I do when I get a guitar (new or used) is set up a speaker pointed toward the sound hole of the acoustic as close as I can get it without touching the strings, and play music all day every day for about a week while I am at work. It doesn't have to be loud, just loud enough for you to feel the wood vibrating. I usually just place my hand on the back of the acoustic, and turn up the volume until I feel the vibrations, and then I check to see if I can feel the sound board vibrating as well. I usually give my acoustic guitars a full range of music education including rock & blues, classical, hip hop, R&B, gospel, and metal. All the genres have different frequency ranges to liven up the wood, and get it breathing again. With acoustic instruments, it takes a while for the wood to forget it's not a tree anymore. Moving that dead wood with sound speeds up the process, and gives it some good vibes. You will notice a vast improvement in tone and sustain. This video would likely produce the same results with the frequencies it plays, but I do like for my guitars to have a good music education foundation. I have even done this process with my solid body guitars. As with speaker break in, there are a lot of naysayers, but I can say without a doubt that this process has improved the tone of my guitars for decades now.
@@RyansCustomShopandGearOutlet I am doing the same with my acoustics but I am using brown noise and I put a small but very good BT-speaker right on the strings over the soundhole. Thank you very much!
Hello there. Because i'm new to hi-fi, i want to buy the 10hour noise/tones file in order to break in the speakers. Is it in stereo or 5.1 output? Because i bought a surround system. Is there a file for subwoofer to buy? Thanks!
I will have a specific subwoofer burn in soon. Looks like you found the best one on the channel, Very Deep Low Frequency Noise: th-cam.com/video/oDlIG-FXVQA/w-d-xo.html
Ich habe gelesen, dass wenn man die Lautsprecher Face to Face stellt und ein Lautsprecher verkehrt herum anschließt +/- , Auslöschungen entstehen, die diesen Vorgang fast lautlos machen. Ist das so ?
An old system is effectively burned-in through use over time. The process of breaking in new speaker is to wear them into their stable performance place faster, because the glue and paper is stiffer from the factory than it will become after many hours of musical vibrations.
Hello, I have a new HIFIMAN Edition XS headphones. Can you please share what is the difference between this video and the "headphones burn-in" video from 5 years ago? is it possible to use this video for headphones also? it has subjectively more bass... 🙂. Thank you.
Yes, more bass with the concept being it can loosen up the low frequency drivers (woofers) more. For your headphones, it may be a good choice as well, or a combination of the two sounds.
@dalesnale I just mounted new car speakers, Morel Maximo Ultra. Radio has max volume 40. What volume will be best and safe for speakers? 15? 20? Please reply, thanks!
The concept of noise (with a few moving tones) rather than music is it will spread across more frequencies evenly relative to music which has common keys and their associated notes and overtones. The musical keys, G, E, A, D and C for instance are more common than B F and keys rooted on sharps or flats. Music will burring the speakers in overtime regardless, and I wouldn't wait to listen to my favorite music on the speakers. Just burn in after a listening session.
i bought the FOCALPOLIKEVLAR components line for my car decades ago. listening it for the first time along with my rockford fosgate amp was disappointing and made me wonder; is this the sound what i paid for? it sounded like tinny, real crap i just thought. playing it for a couple of days then made it sound A LOT BETTER. so i must say, speaker break in is TRUE. fast forward today and one of the drivers(woofer) now dead. bought a new one and i'm into breaking it in.
I'm almost 2 hours in this monitor break in video. One question please. Is it normal to listen only "hiss" till now? Should I expect to listen any other sounds or frequencies?
I have grills in front of my monitor speakers and I cannot understand-see if the woofer is actualy "moving" somehow. However before the break in I cross-check that monitors are performing well with some real music. Now I only hear a "hiss" to a specific frequency which does not change noticeably.
And something last.... you say 65dB-75dB playback volume. My speakers has a 0 point (which is the center detent point) with an area from -50 to + 15. And my volume on my audio interface is something different and separate. Where should I put the volume on the speakers? In -50dB you cannot hear at all the hiss noise even if I set the volume at half on the audio interface. Thank you.
But I played real music and the woofers perform. And surely I can hear separate sound coming out from the woofers but it's only a deep hiss. In order to solve that the woofers are not engaded, I played dubstep 2 minutes in low volumes and the bass and the sub bass are present and clear.
Because there is lower frequency in this audio than the typical guitar amp frequencies, it may not be worth it, or if you do try it, turn doan the low frequencies down on the amplifier first.
Used this on a JBL Boombox 3, which CRAZY bright. Made a huge difference with one session. Wow. Thanks for posting this file, it's a real game changer for new speakers. I hate everything, but this is really great.

Hi, I like to ask if this can be use on old speakers with subwoofer? Will it improve on the sound stage?
The spider on the woofer needs to loosen up.
Just finished 24 hours on my new iPhone 15 pro max. I can tell the difference. It was tinny before, now there’s nothing. thanks gonna replace this phone under applecare
what...IPhone 15PM?, today?
Is this just a loop? If so how long is original
Loosen up the glue? Sounds like a broken speaker?
I started now the burn in with Cambridge Evo One, its brand new and the sound its not good yet.. i hope this helps!
really after one round. my audio engine 6hd sound more musical. and less clinical. and the bass is more lush. not thuds. mid range is a bit hear and there. like they want to go further. but was amazed by some tunes today. i had to do this on akg headphones years back. thank you.
Thank you for making this track. I am using it to burn-in my new Marshall Emberton II bluetooth speaker. I didn’t like the sound quality right out of the box so want to experiment if this changes anything. How many hours of burn-in with this track is recommended to get full benefit? 30 hours?
Yes, 30 or 3 sessions is typical at medium volume.
Tried about 12 hour noticed the bass was a bit better in the morning gonna try again also didnt use right out of package about 2 days after use
Thank you.
I have a Celestion FX12-200 FRLR speaker that I feel it sounds really harsh with any IR I use, maybe this will fix that harshness!
did it fix the harshness. Any update?
Would this work for a new in car stereo upgrade with a woofer or do you recommend your sub vid for this ?
Either would work, however the subwoofer burn-in has more concentrated low frequencies.
@@dalesnale maybe Ill rub it through both done an hour on each so far in the car ? Just hoping once done the harshness of the fresh speakers will disappear
Please help with this query:
I want to burn my big speakers for 30 hours, but can't make it in single session. Instead can I have 3-4 split sessions, will that help me get *at least near* single 30 hour session? Or that would be just of no use?
Splitting up the burn-in session is what most do. The sound need not happen continuously. Many do it when they are away from the listening environment once the medium sound level is established.
@@dalesnale cool, thanks for the reply
@@mbvx7 Heh...relax the components...go away.
Thank you very much!
is it necessary to play continuously for 8-10 hrs or can be done in 2-3 days with 1-2 hrs per day??
Can be done over the course of a few days. It doesn't need to be nonstop however that would be ideal
CC DONC SI J AI COMPRIS 10H DE SUITE???????
@@nev1715 Non tu peux le faire sur la durée, mais si tu as le temps les 10 heures de suite c'est l'idéal :)
Epos H6 pro burn in here we come :)
Looks like you found the best one on the channel, Very Deep Low Frequency Noise: th-cam.com/video/oDlIG-FXVQA/w-d-xo.html
so if i do this on my old system will it work or this works of brand new systems only
An old system is effectively burned-in through use over time. The process of breaking in new speaker is to wear them into their stable performance place faster, because the glue and paper is stiffer from the factory than it will become after many hours of musical vibrations.
@@dalesnale ohh ook thanks 🙏🏻👍🏻
Can you give me some advice, please
I have JBL partybox 310
How many hours should I play this sound on? And how much volume should I play this at
50 vol for 6 hours
Dumb question but can I just run a 1/4” cable out of the headphone jack of my mixer into the input of my amp to do this?
Yeah, it should be fine. Though, the headphone output might not sound the same as a speaker out.
I bought JBL GO 3 and burn it. Now, it is amazing sound.
Jay-Bils woohoo
Hello, I have a new HIFIMAN Edition XS headphones. Can you please share what is the difference between this video and the "headphones burn-in" video from 5 years ago? is it possible to use this video for headphones also? it has subjectively more bass... 🙂. Thank you.
Yes, more bass with the concept being it can loosen up the low frequency drivers (woofers) more. For your headphones, it may be a good choice as well, or a combination of the two sounds.
@@dalesnalePerfect! Thank you 🙂👍🏻
How long time should I play it on a Philips TAS7807 bluetooth speaker (80W)?
20-30 hours is typical.
@dalesnale
I just mounted new car speakers, Morel Maximo Ultra. Radio has max volume 40. What volume will be best and safe for speakers? 15? 20? Please reply, thanks!
From the video's Description... "A medium volume is recommended around 65-75db which is equivalent to speech conversation."
What volume frequency level should I use? Not in dbs… like should I run it on low for an hour and then turn it up?
Medium playback volume. Not too loud, not too quiet.
Seems like many sport cars whre you live haha
will this work with 10 hours of warbird engine?
A sound like that should also work, although it will be a limited set of frequencies based on the engine rpm, along with the noise element.
While doing this method, should I set my speaker to the eq settings I would normally listen to them on, or on the default flat setting???
Medium volume and no eq is ideal. The bass is prominent in the audio, so no need for a boost.
@@dalesnale Great… Thanks for the response!
It's hard for me to find answer, but why is using noise the option to do a burn in process?
The concept of noise (with a few moving tones) rather than music is it will spread across more frequencies evenly relative to music which has common keys and their associated notes and overtones. The musical keys, G, E, A, D and C for instance are more common than B F and keys rooted on sharps or flats. Music will burring the speakers in overtime regardless, and I wouldn't wait to listen to my favorite music on the speakers. Just burn in after a listening session.
@@dalesnale I see, thanks for the information! 😄
The manufacturer tells me to do it in the manaul
May I ask what brand and model suggests this in the manual?
@@dalesnale Probably Fluance - as do mine Ai41's :)
Will this really help my JBL BAR 2.1 DEEP BASS??
i bought the FOCALPOLIKEVLAR components line for my car decades ago. listening it for the first time along with my rockford fosgate amp was disappointing and made me wonder; is this the sound what i paid for? it sounded like tinny, real crap i just thought. playing it for a couple of days then made it sound A LOT BETTER.
so i must say, speaker break in is TRUE.
fast forward today and one of the drivers(woofer) now dead. bought a new one and i'm into breaking it in.
A good reason to burn them in and put them through the paces early.
I just got my logitech z623 , do I really need to break in those speakers ? thank you very much please let me know .
you probably should since normal computer speaker dont have as much detail as studio monitors
Burning in my Yamaha HS7 :)
Nice! Love those "NS-10s of the 21st century" :)
Thanks it worked
Audeze Euclid has started the burn in, #letsgo
I'm almost 2 hours in this monitor break in video. One question please. Is it normal to listen only "hiss" till now? Should I expect to listen any other sounds or frequencies?
I have grills in front of my monitor speakers and I cannot understand-see if the woofer is actualy "moving" somehow. However before the break in I cross-check that monitors are performing well with some real music. Now I only hear a "hiss" to a specific frequency which does not change noticeably.
It is full frequency sound. So if the speakers only hiss, that indicates the woofers were not engaged.
But I played real music and the woofers perform. And surely I can hear separate sound coming out from the woofers but it's only a deep hiss.
In order to solve that the woofers are not engaded, I played dubstep 2 minutes in low volumes and the bass and the sub bass are present and clear.
Does this work on a 12 inch guitar speaker ?
Because there is lower frequency in this audio than the typical guitar amp frequencies, it may not be worth it, or if you do try it, turn doan the low frequencies down on the amplifier first.
@@dalesnale Thanks, let me try.
After this video I now see my speakers a lot better and for some reason I don't hear anything anymore
Is 10 hours enough or should I repeat it a couple of times?
Yes, Most will do it 3 times, over three evenings for a total of 30 hours.
Burning in my Sony Ult field 1, planning to go for 2 sessions or 20 hours. 5 hours in 15 more to go.
Its been 10 hours now and the difference in sound is so evident that it sounds like a different speaker.
Can I play this on 2x speed (for science)?
