- Houthi rebels claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 reaper drone on May 17. Footage circulated online showed wreckage that appeared to be of an MQ-9 drone. However, the US military did not immediately acknowledge the incident. Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree claimed that rebels shot down the Predator with a surface-to-air missile, adding that it "carried out hostile actions" in Yemen's Marib province. Usa 🇺🇸 drones are overrated. This is the 5th time the houtis are shooting down an MQ9 reaper drones , armed, and funded by iran 🇮🇷 this showcase the advanced Iranian technology despite being under sanctions for over 40 year's.

The missile is homemade, meaning the missile is Yemeni, not Iranian
thanks to the harsh sanctions they were forced to develop their own, without carrying along the ballast of previous designs. They went from buyers/consumers to producers.

Russians should take a page from the Yemeni Playbook. All those "Reapers" flying around the Black Sea.
The difference is that USA is already at war with the Houthis, so any USA military equipment is fair game, but Russia and USA are not officially at war, so Russia deliberately shooting down an USA drone in international air-space would be an act of war. I do not think that Russia or USA want to directly target each other, which would mean officially being at war.

MQ-9 is an advanced drone but only during its time about a decade ago. This drone is based on old technology. Try shoot down a Chinese drone flying at 60,000 ft, above the height of most missiles and all fighter jets.
There are lots of fighter jets that can fly above 60,000 ft... bombers too. Don't be silly.

@@nomadiclapse The F-15 operational ceiling height is 60,000 ft. Of course most fighter jets could fly above 60,000 ft in height but for very short instances. An F-15 can fly up to 100,000 ft. But the pilot, systems and missiles become unstable above 60,000 ft. That's why the Chinese WZ-7 and WZ-8 drones are very difficult to shoot down. MQ-9 is a hyped drone as usual. Houthis can shoot it down.
