- A warning for dog owners: we are now in Foxtail season.
Foxtails are the green weeds growing all over San Diego County that are starting to dry out. They can hurt and even kill a dog.
San Diego vet clinics and animal hospitals are busy removing foxtails from dogs and it can be a painful and pricey visit.

This happened to my puppy, he was sneezing violently and it was awful. We took him to multiple vet trips but they did not have the proper equipment to remove and the full anaesthesia and procedure would've cost 5000 CAD. Luckily it miraculously dislodged itself and came out in one of his sneeze attacks!

Nearly 500$ latter?! I want to know what vet she went to. My poor pup had one between his toes. Surgery with meds cost 1000$
We were on vacation when our breeder sent a text that our dog had two in his back paw. She never had this happen before. She paid the vet bill. Never knew about this until now. I've only been out of the city for four years and on the west coast surrounded by this plant. Kinda scary knowing my scent hound sniffs everything.
Ok so would one get rid of foxtails from one’s lawn? Good repot but offering a solution would have made a great repot.
My dog has a piece of foxtail in his foot. A cyst developed & I lanced it & the weed came out.

Always about money and not love for an animal!
and foxtails were brought here! These plant are not native to America. We need to get rid of them for the sake of animals
