You mentioned about feeling useful, because medicine is about saving lives. I just wanted to let you know that through your videos, you did indeed saved mine. I'm a 26 years old architect from Brazil, who always dreamed about being an airline pilot. Because of your videos, I felt like it's something worth trying, so now I'm doing flight training and chasing that dream. You did save me. You saved me from this sad death bed moment, when people regret about undone things. I don't know if that's going to work for me, but at least I'm trying. Thanks for you channel!
I kind of sheepishly feel good that even Ali has insecurity of "what would happen if this thing doesn't work out?". This honestly gives me some confidence that I'm on the right path.
🍀 I didn't enjoy clinical medicine and decided to shift to pharma and clinical research / medical writing and I'm loving it! There's so much one can do within medicine!
Your story is truly inspiring. It’s really humbling to see how far you’ve come and where you started. It makes me feel like I can do anything 🙏🏽 we’re all so proud of you!
I find it incredible how open you are about everything you have done; thank you so much for making these kinds of videos because they probably help many people thinking about making such decisions! Thank you for all the help you have provided me with in this year, and also motivating me to make TH-cam videos. Happy holidays Ali and Team!
I was so confused about my decision to study medicine, and I had so many questions that I couldn't find answers to, but now after I've watched your videos; I feel everything become more clear to me, thank you for sharing your experience and for being honest! 🍀

Interestingly, my best subject in high school was business studies; because of my reserved personality, I chose science. p.s this channel is both inspiring and mind-opening, thank you for sharing your life stories. I wish you much more success :)
It's opposite in my case. My brother is an entrepreneur and I'm a doctor. We too hope to support eachother. My fav subject was maths. I believe in destiny hence i believe in its plan. 💜
🍀 Thanks for taking the time to share about your feelings on the decision you made, Ali. I find myself nodding to most of the things you shared because I had similar experiences and took similar steps as well as having similar explanations behind the actions I took. Cheers! 🥂
As a GP currently getting all the paperwork in order for a "career break," I really identify with so much of what you've covered in this video. I really don't think i will return to medicine, but thought applying for a career break would be a good trial of life away from medicine, rather than going the whole hog and resigning! Autonomy is a huge factor for me. I was shocked at how little control i had over my own life as a junior doctor. It didn't get much better as a GP. Huge respect to you for making it work.
I absolutely love your content. I quit my nursing job too and I'd worked with Doctor's that quit eventually as well. Some of my friends are still in health of course, but I agree with most of your reasoning for leaving. One can make more money outside of our conventional jobs. I think I'm also big on work being fun and also owning my time.
Even though I don’t even consider studying medicine I knew there would be bits of information for me too and it didn’t disappoint, that’s the beauty of this channel that it can provide different points of view about anything 🍀
Work does not give you purpose; Purpose give you work. If you care about your work, all your satisfaction won't come only from your salary. Seems like working in the NHS is grueling. Too many people pursue medicine without knowing how the day-to-day experience really is.

I work as doctor, I see you as motivation that doctor can survive outside medicine, however I would like to know other doctors like you who quit medicine and how well they are doing in your comparison
Thank you so much, Ali. I cannot express how grateful I am to you. You are the only person who has ever given me a good piece of advice. I am from India and I am 15. I feel pressured by my parents and relatives to pursue medicine. You have given me the courage to take a stand for myself and pursue my passion which is teaching.
I quit medicine as well, right after earning my MD, also to be an entrepreneur. Sometimes I have regrets, but ultimately, I have more relief than anything. Had I stayed in the field, done residency, and gotten hired, I think I'd have felt trapped forever.

What you do now is much more flexible than a doctor. I am in a similar situation and from my perspective I would say you did the best thing. You are your own boss and you are not attached to a hospital (or a specific workplace) and no one can fire you expect yourself!
🍀 Thank you Ali 💐 I really dont like people who workship to medicine and think that you should go to hell if you leave it. Actually medicine is the hell if you dont like it. There is still whole another beautiful life outside of medicine that we can choose and people are already living. I wish you more peace, health and long life with your loved ones 💐
