🎉😂 so funny i just finished this mod on a firma 150 from my 6s typhon. It was my first go at it. I was lucky and the air cooled heat sink was only held on with screws so i was able to get the new sink pasted directly the "heat strips". Turned out sweet and works great, in my rigger! Great video brother keep em comin! I watch em all!! Ive learned so much from you!!
Oh yeah ! Another good idea-clear plastic template 👍 I use thin blue painters tape but the clear plastic is better. That’s right Big B, doing it “your way” is what makes it a hobby, not buying RTR, that’s just playing with toys. Crafting your own idea and tweaking it as needed to make it better (Tinker, Tune, Test). Believe it or not I’ve only purchased 2 RTR boats over the years and only 1 of those went in the water in its original form. If you ask me all props need tweaking. BGFL
Can't wait to see it run! You're certainly right on keeping a positive attitude, some boat days are better than others but gotta take the bad with the good, would't be as fun if you got a hole in one every round :)
This one quite working after about 30 seconds of running (at low speed) The motor bullet touching the stock heat sink killed it. Heat sink was potted from castle wrong.
Break all those fins off next time. Sand the surface smooth. Heat shrink those bullets too. MG chemicals make a awsome heat transfering epoxy. Pricy but worth every penny⚡ . Love the content B.
How about an episode on choosing & soldering battery connectors to ESC's? Would be a great help to some of us- & is an important part of swapping ESC's!
I've said this before this RC boat doesn't need much at all to have fun with all I did was change out the radio and servo and I have different props for it and it runs great but I will change out the esc when it dies
Yeah I've done this mod and it works great. I bought an aluminum bar stock and just cut what I need from it. Hardest part is drilling it. I've stayed away from the car esc's because from my experience they don't always work for the boats. Just my opinion but I don't think most of the car esc's are designed for the different driving style of a boat. A car you tend to be off and on the trigger more verses a boat. So I hope this works and it will give us more options.
I think you might get a little more cooling if you put the water cooler on the bottom and zip tied to the Mamba if the height was an issue. Then you could use a larger cooling block. It wouldn't matter if the cooling block was mounted bottom to bottom to cool it, and you'd still have the fins on top of the speed controller for extra cooling. As always, love the channel bro. Boat Gang!!!
Only boat channel I watch. Great videos 👍
Very interesting this upgrade
Ironclad! You're the Doc of rc boat homework bro! ALWAYS informative. I admire your experimenting spirit. Keep up the good work bro! Happy holidays!
Wow nice work B. Can’t wait to see it go. Too bad on the drilling miss. No biggie. Movin’ on and up!
@garywilkinson6832 didn't go as planned that's for sure! Should have called factory defect, the heat sink touching that motor bullet failed

I love this modded ESC! Done it a few times now with the Stumpfab cooling plate. It’s underrated performance!
Great video, also like to do my own props and test them. Can't wait to see you painting the hydro, hope you try a metallic color

Your prop work is great! I know it`s an esc video, but I had to say.

Roger that! Will do

Love the thumbnail
I would have made sure that that ESC worked before you touched it!!!!
I'm assuming it works. I'm watching now.
What lipo connectors are you using?
@@BlackSwarm qs8 connectors

Water resistant we have used those alot in rc. Boats not to sure might burn up
Why not leave the Aluminum fins and put the water sink on the bottom?
Why didn’t you grind down the remains of the fins? A flatter surface gives better heat transfer
@jas-FPV it didn't matter Because the heat sink touching that motor bullet destroyed itself today within 30 seconds on the water. Lol
I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU IF MY ENGINE IS RUNNING HOT IF I PUT A WATER COOL EXORST MANIFOLD WILL IT HELP
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎉
