I hear a bit of Joe Henderson influence in there....and I hope Jody Jazz is sponsoring you! That mouthpiece does sound like a good match for your approach.

Love your tone and sound...Congratulations! Lance, How would you compare the HR Custom Dark Tenor vs the regular HR Tenor (which is what I play)?

Hey, thanks Pete! I played the reg HR* on tenor for a few years and I really like it. Mostly. Nice fat, pretty dark sound but with a bright buzz also in the sound. I didn't like that part of the sound so much. The Custom Dark doesn't have that bright buzz. It's warmer. But I don't think it projects as much as the reg HR. I'm not sure, because during this pandemic I've only had two gigs to play it on so far. Can't really tell how much it projects in all situations. But I really like them both.

I agree @@lancebryant8528 The same observation here. I have both also. Only a hobby player though. Great warm velveting sound on the custom. But I find it hard to project in larger settings. Great for minor jazz band playing, but it is not a rock or funk piece ;)

That was just fantastic. Now I want to listen to Joe Henderson right after I buy one of these. How does the tip opening compare to the other Jody Jazz pieces? Do you feel its more or less resistant with a 7*?

Hey Thank you! I don't notice a difference in resistance between the regular HR and Custom Dark. Both easy blowing. Just a real difference in tone quality. Custom Dark is warmer.
