    ------------------------------------
    In this video we discuss some of the issues skilling in Old School RuneScape has faced in recent years. Currently we have seen prices for common skilling goods plummet with no hope of resurrection. Is there anything we can do to help save skilling and make it profitable again?

    "That 500 coal you got from a vorkath kill" boom there is the issue right there. U get all skilling items from bosses. Makes 0 sense. You know how long it takes to actually mine 500 coal? A good amount of time.

      Why would a high level player want to go sit and mine fucking coal. Dead boring content. Skilling needs high end gameplay that can somewhat match what bosses can do

      Yup. Skilling was never super profitable, but it officially died on 1/8/15 with the money snake release. Since then the raid/boss drops for skilling items have gotten exponentially more absurd.
      I mean, why would I ever craft a death rune when I can go kill Muspah for a 1/22 chance at a stack of 428 death runes lmao

  • @Turkingtang

    Pretty much if we took skilling and instead of giving skilling outfits a negligible xp bonus and instead increased recourses acquired or did anything to further skilling and not throw it on to a drop table would be great.

    the mistake was made a long time ago.
    Its suppose to be an economy game where people rely on other peoples skills.
    Magic logs should only come from magic trees.
    Zulrah should only have a drop table of uniques and snake skin.
    Unfortunately i believe jagex tried this with nightmare boss, which then everyone complained because it costed too much in supplies and little to no supply drops (WHICH IS EXACTLY HOW BOSSING SHOULD BE)
    Fishing supplies should only come from people fishing
    Bloods/deaths/natures should only come from runecrafting
    Coal, runite, addy ore should only come from mining.
    Sadly everything comes from slayer now, slayer should only grant access to fighting monsters that only drop uniques/rares.
    If supply drops were removed from bosses, their unique/rare drops would be far more valuable considering the cost of supplies to obtain those rares.

    • @XowntXihqX
      @XowntXihqX ปีที่แล้ว

      personally i don't do bandos for the sole reason you rely on rng to get a unique item that's supposed to cover your supplies and bring profit for your time spent there. zulrah and vorkath on consistent money makers hence more reliable source of profit. at the expense of driving down supply items' price. i do agree they should do something about it. but removing common drops would definitely demotivate a lot of pvmers of doing bosses and they're sure as hell not turning to skilling for profit.

      @@XowntXihqX Yeah. Removing common drops will demotivate people from bossing but at the same time NOT REMOVING IT also fucks over the skiller community. If we were to GO BACK it was Jagex's fault in the first place for doing this.

  • @discreet6951
    @discreet6951 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Jagex having/making decision on how item prices rise and fall on a weekly/monthly basis without a substantial update being the cause? No thanks…. We can’t even have members of the company not abuse their power and be corrupt, and that’s on a yearly basis… seriously think about that. Or just find make more uses for the materials you get from pvm, thieving, and pvp. I say this because most of the items you get from the activities have one use only. Flax makes bowstrings, seeds make certain plants, logs make bows, and ores are used for smithing. And some materials don’t even have a use like cabbage, bananas, raw bird meat, and some root types.
    So just make some more uses imo. Revive brewing, add new spells, make vegetable food give a buff. Do something to get rid of these easily farmable resources.

    Look at the most recent poll...people like PVM the most. Skilling will never be profitable until it can't be easily botted.
    In order to make skilling make comparable money for a sustainable period of a time would require a massive rework to skilling making all high level skilling much more different. It would have to be very dynamic and skill based like the hallowed sepulcher.

    zulhra killed skilling zolcano ruined mining can we just take all skilling items off drop tables at least the basic ones that can be gathered manually replace it with noted runeplatbodies and dragon meds mabey leave the ones no one wants to do again that make sense to keep cheap like essence and flax , but does kbd really need to be dropping yew logs? I would be just as happy with a few alchables mabey make it so only irons recieve these drops? Idk it does suck tho and blast furnace costing half coal is bogus mabey instead of paying the dwarves in gp it could be paid in coal instead as a item sink to help balance things out a little ? It seems like everyone knows what caused the problems so how hard is it really to fix?

  • @theboss6722

    I think the grand exchange is partly to blame as well. If you removed the grand exchange aspect, more players will most likely opt to keep the resources so they don’t have to depend on other people who may not even be selling that item at the time/ being price gouged. I know it’s super convenient but I miss the days with out it. It was a better community and you kept friends longer since that was potentially the only way to find a resource faster. Not to mention bots can do their thing, and just dump it on the grand exchange. If it went back to player trading player, the bot owner would have to sell everything themselves or risk a bot selling it and getting reported/ban.

    • @scaper98
      @scaper98 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@scaper98 Have you played Dark and Darker? Their market system is very reminiscent of old RS trading, while having an inbuilt system that allows to quickly finding offers that are available. IT doesn't show average prices like the GE currently does and instead requires you as the player to have an understanding of the value of items, just as RS used to be. I think a similar system could work really well in RS but it'll never happen now.

    Yeah theirs this theme of how quickly you can develop RSI = better xp rates. I also feel that blast furnace just needs to be removed or nerfed into the ground. The fact running back and forth smithing gold bars from lvl 40-99 is the most efficient method by miles is just dumb.

    • @sylvariatzaka
      @sylvariatzaka ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone who did 99 smithing with gold ore, I totally agree.
      It was fast, but it was completely one dimensional. It was the exact same thing, same room, same action, same item for millions of XP.
      A short, but miserable experience.

      Just fix broken boss tables that flood resources into the game and invest in an anti-cheating team that actually does something. Zillions of bots running around on the same world day in day out for weeks with thousands of kc and nothing done.
