Just fitted my parking sensors today using this vid... Ebay parking sensors - £17 Second hand panel van - £6000 The satisfaction of that 'beep' when you put it into reverse and know you haven't fucked up - priceless Thanks mate!
Also you can go to halfords with the vehicle reg and they will make the exact colour code for vehicle £15.. i use Jawel paints and paint the sensors at home.
Well I did mine today, luckily on the T5.1 bumper there's location markers on the inside for where the sensors need to be fitted. My bumper definitely didn't come off as easy as the one in the video, it was a right pain to remove with clips everywhere.
FYI for anyone with a T5 with tailgate rather than barn door - there's an additional (super sneaky) screw holding the bumper in BEHIND THE MUD GUARD... Use the same bit as the other ones through the mudguard, but you'll need to push the mudguard forwards to access the screw behind it. Took me an hour or so of swearing before I spotted it haha
Hello! Can you describe how you prepped and painted the sensors before fitting them - I've got my sensors and just waiting for my spray paint to arrive before fitting mine to the bumper. Cheers
Sure, cleaned with alcohol wipes.. Sprayed with plastic primer, Let dry and spray again with primer Apply thin dusting of tip coat-white or the colour of your van, Then again after 10 mins And again after 10 mins Then gloss to finish, couple of coats 👌🏻
Where can I get the gromits you used to fix those bumper flaps back in place at 22:53 in your video? My flaps either side are just flopping around underneath... cheers
@@tomtdubz Spot on, I took a stab in the dark and ordered a set of grey trim clips and they worked a treat! Even managed to fit the middle clip in under the spare wheel clamp using the handle of a hammer and wheel nut wrench to shimmy it in.
@@tomtdubz use a multimeter, bare cable back, and test in reverse as and when the cable is live!! if its only got 12v on it when vsn is in reverse then you know that's the reverse light feed you need.
@@tomtdubz Don't use solder as on some vehicles it will put bulb error lights on the dash due to resistance. I've fitted sensors in 100s of vehicles and my method always works I've never had anyone come back.
I bought a set of these not the ones you fitted I got mine off eBay total waste of time think they were from China so in the end I bought a dash cam with reversing camera from amazon
Just done a friends. Thing is, looking at your video I don't think you have the proper metal bumper that should sit inside the plastic one? If someone else watching this does then you need to place the sensors so that the back of the sensors will go into the pre drilled holes in the metal bumper.
I have a 2004 T5 and can confirm I had to drill at 500mm centres about the middle of the bumper (250 to the left, 250 to the right) then make sure the outer two cleared the metalwork completely. The metal part looks different to the one in the video.
car audio solutionz yep lol I did see that once I’d looked lol, strangely enough the two middle were spot on 😎 did realise the damage to the paint that could be cause too, we’re all learning 👌🏻👊🏻
@@tomtdubz Hi, 2005 with a tailgate. I wired it all up and 'piggybacked' into the reversing light and the earth (all the lights work) but no sound from the bleeper. Maybe the box is faulty.
@@tomtdubz Turns out is was the connectors I was using. The supplier of the sensors said to wrap the power wire from the control box directly around the existing power wire from the VW. Low voltage so I guess it'd be ok.

Think this wasn’t a genuine bumper as didn’t have any markings… they are a pain, the 2013 onwards are even worse
Love your videos
Thanks 👌🏻
Comment if you've visited shore vans and made use of the discount code....... tdubz10 🤘🏻

They are just the interior clips.. have you got some?
Trim panel clips 👌🏻
@@tomtdubz I ordered a handful yesterday. No idea if they are the correct diameter yet. If all else fails I will purchase the identical ones you used.

Never cut the reverse signal and ground wire burn off the installation and wrap the wire around it.

Can I just ask, what wheels and size are you running on the van?
19” bmw twist wheels then went to 20” calibre ccu’s
What size hole is the cutter?
20mm 👌🏻👊🏻

Easy to fit up hard wired into the fuse box or you can plug it into the cigarette light thing

Lol.. if you had turned the bumper over there's factory locations.
Also use a bumper stand you wrecked the edges of the bumper.
