So steer clear of this one - I am always interested in any planar I see, I just like them and didn't expect a Simgot planar, glad to have seen this video.
I love learning from your reviews. They are not simple buy or pass; you give details and examples and even explain the limitations of the tech. I appreciate your approach so much. TY. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.
Thank you for always giving your honest take, and explaining why. I listen to music and videos in the background while working, so I always listen to yours, and I learn a lot. Appreciate it.
Thanks man. I really enjoyed the discussion between dynamic and planar drivers. Help my ignorance if you could, i assume that a single dynamic driver always has the whole membrane moving for all frequencies, but planar split the frequencies? For example, one section of the driver could be low end while another on the same driver could be mid? If this is somewhat accurate, does this create additional overtones ?
Such a great informative video, Chris. Thanks. I always thought planars had some kind of advantage over DDs over the entire frequency range, mistakenly as it seems.
I'm not too terribly surprised that a less than ideal set arrives on market... but it is good to have ya pointing out those when they occur .. happy holidays !
As some who owns the Lokahi and the Skuld, two all BA sets, that I really enjoy the give away set looks interesting for sure. I'm also a huge fan of all things planar when it comes to music reproduction as the speed and accuracy can be very hard to beat when done correctly. It sounds like they missed the mark with this set which is a shame. Thanks for the shot Christ, hope this finds you and yours doing great, enjoy your weekend. Take care and God Bless...
Nice explanation of the difference between both sistems. I can learn a lot. I'm more used to hear dinamic driveres. I like Simgot a lot. Gona try to find this iem and taste it. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the upper planar validation, I've been feeling nuts for awhile. Even picked up a coupler trying to figure out if what I was hearing that was wrong/a bad set. 😂
Love the video and review as always. Just wanted to point out you put the wrong link in description, it's linked to the 7HZ Timeless II and not the Simgot ET142 Anyways hope you're good and that the holydays are starting to be put together for you
It sounds like you’re advocating for the opposite of what IEM designers are doing. You like planar bass and dynamic miss & treble, but the market only has the opposite.
I think planar does bass to mids better and DD is more natural at higher freq in the mini version (IEM). BA and EST would all with DD be preferable for treb over planar for my ears w/ my library
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews It sounds like that configuration would be a good configuration for your next collab. It would break people's minds and get a lot of attention for being so different.
An interesting thing about the ET142 is that the FR looks like an exaggerated S15, but the graph follows the same "twists and bends", which could mean it's the same or related driver, but with less damping. So perhaps, if the price is low enough, it could be a set for modders. Thanks for the review!
A great company like simgot can mess up.I really like that reviewed this cuz u don't review most planar but this was important so people have a good prospective on the set. have a good weekend man cheers..
this set had people afraid due to planar and simgot house sound coming together. It seems they figured it out somewhat but it's clearly still not for everyone
Nice to see Simgot dipping their toes in planar. It'll be very hard to compete in the planar war when there's Artti T10 or Letshuoer S08, especially if this came out more expensive than those two. Hope they keep trying tho. Great review as always!
Planars are affected by dimensions. Headphones are a great size for them and can be tuned well. With iems there is a cost, a sound that goes with them. In speakers like the Magnepan they become thin. The advantage is speed and precision. But in iems costs you in the harmonics just like you mentioned. Great review!
Wow. Quite surprised Simgot's tuning on this one didn't get a rec from HBB. Eager to see what HBB will think of Tangzu's dual planar-magnetic driver Zetian Wu Empress.
Very instructive video. I've never owned a planar IEM, I have some headphones, to me usually is more low end than impact, but that it's only my impression. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work! ❤
These seem perfect for me, with nice sub-bass and boosted mids and treble. But then again I love Koss Portapros with a treble EQ boost and Grados. Different strokes...Great review BTW
Interesting explanation Chris I understand now about weird Pena gain and peaks in upper treble and your curve sloping down very well now thanks for the information 🙏🏼
I'm a 51-year-old noob to IEMs, I have hated every pair I've tried. I Had to EQ every pair to death to get the treble acceptable to my ears, I don't mind them in games, but for music I just don't like them. So Ive sent them all back so far. Then I found your video ( The Absurdity of the Harman Earphone Target) I knew than what my problem is. Every pair I have tried is based on the Harman. I like the fact that you don't review based on a particular meta. I Just ordered the AFUL Explorer for $95. Most expensive headphones I have ever bought. They're not based on the Harman and get good reviews. They have not got here yet. Be cool if you would do a review on them. The EPZ 530 would be a dream, can't imagine having them, they would not be sold or hung on a wall. They would be used until they fell apart. My Superlux HD668B are 9 years old, taped together and on my head right now lol.
Ooh, man this was a sad one, simgot is awesome... Yeah it happens and a bad product comes... My understanding now is that a great set will have both a planar and a dynamic and you tune each for their strength... Thanks for the review and honest take...
Wow, you added an audio track for different languages, great, what a shame things didn't turn out well with this Simgot iem, being a brand that has earned recognition for doing things right.
I want to see Jay do a tier list of all the HBB collabs and i want HBB to authorize it sending him all his collabs to A/B test and rank. That would be a cool video!
I know that companies have been doing more planar sets recently but I've heard a few things about xMEMS drivers but mostly in wireless stuff. Have you tried out any of those drivers?
I would always appreciate the explainer parts, getting into the nitty gritty of sound, very few audio reviews care to explain and go there. Thanks for that! ET142's sharp peak at 8k is bit concerning to say the least, would've personally perferred shozy p20 curve more.
Thanks for this review. This appears to be the first miss Simgot has had in a while. It looks like they put in effort to do a good job, it just didn't work out for them.
Always appreciate if you explain how a certain driver-type works and where its strengths/ weaknesses lay. Looks like companies are getting back at the single planar tech. I got the z12 and hardly use them because I enjoy other iems. Hearing your review of the simgot planar I am thinking that the tonality seems off. Thanks for the review. Eagerly waiting on the epz 530 review.
I have always been an enthusiast of midcentric tunings, but after listening to S08 for some weeks I have come to agree with your take in planar tuning. Most planar iems can get really vicious really quick.
Interesting set. Like you said the tuning seems off. I wonder if the planar iem space will have more sets with issues like this as the planar iem space gets more interesting.
I appreciate the honesty. I love a well done planar, it’s a shame this one was tuned in such a way and is a bit surprising coming from such a reputable company.
I love the audio knowledge being dropped here its interesting to me. I wanna know more about the difference of branded drivers, drivers from Sonion and Knowles and why they are better than or how theyre different from chifi custom BA drivers (since I dont have any sets (yet) that feature Sonion or Knowles BAs). Which chifi custom BAs/companies have you listened to that are on the same level as Sonion and Knowles? Edit: Damn that Simgot planar graph looks pretty bad. Thats an older Asian person tuning.
So steer clear of this one - I am always interested in any planar I see, I just like them and didn't expect a Simgot planar, glad to have seen this video.
Gotta say thank you for your open and honest take on this set, and your thoughts on planars.

12:05 the first "hope it was free" in a while, lol the fact that you're not even giving it away speaks volumes
I love learning from your reviews. They are not simple buy or pass; you give details and examples and even explain the limitations of the tech. I appreciate your approach so much. TY. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.
This type of video is very useful for those who are starting out in this hobby, very educational.
Thank you for always giving your honest take, and explaining why. I listen to music and videos in the background while working, so I always listen to yours, and I learn a lot. Appreciate it.
Simgot really puting great efort lately!
I didn’t expect it to go this way, haven’t seen a set that you’d not like in a while
Honest reviews are worth their weight in gold
Never clicked so fast, happy holidays!
Such a great informative video, Chris. Thanks. I always thought planars had some kind of advantage over DDs over the entire frequency range, mistakenly as it seems.
He was as honest as he can be. We appreciate that man!
Well, I had some expectations with this batch of planars. Thanks for the honesty.
Very informative video as always. Not looking for another planar anytime soon.
I'm not too terribly surprised that a less than ideal set arrives on market... but it is good to have ya pointing out those when they occur .. happy holidays !
Thanks for the explanation of the planar's happy place. Very helpful.
So much info, love it! Have a nice weekend HBB🤘🏽✨
Hopefully another planar will start with this and the timeless 2!! Great vid as always!
As some who owns the Lokahi and the Skuld, two all BA sets, that I really enjoy the give away set looks interesting for sure.

Thank you for always being honest with your reviews. Have an awesome weekend 👍
Great explanation about planars vs dynamic drivers!
really interesting visualization of your idea of the drivers, really helps demonstrate your perspective on the tuning and performance of em.
Another planar 😮
Thanks for the nice explanation on planar tech 😊
Happy friday, thanks for the honest review
Happy Christmas HBB and all in advance.
Nice tackle on this set. Appreciate the lecture :)
Nice explanation of the difference between both sistems. I can learn a lot. I'm more used to hear dinamic driveres. I like Simgot a lot. Gona try to find this iem and taste it. Thanks for the video.
Happy Friday man. Hope you have a great weekend
Thank you for the upper planar validation, I've been feeling nuts for awhile. Even picked up a coupler trying to figure out if what I was hearing that was wrong/a bad set. 😂
Interesting, Simgots first "none banger", thanks for the review as always! :D
Thanks bro! very informative review. I hope Simgot fix it before mass production. Happy weekend to you and yours as well.
Love the video and review as always.
Just wanted to point out you put the wrong link in description, it's linked to the 7HZ Timeless II and not the Simgot ET142
Anyways hope you're good and that the holydays are starting to be put together for you
I was looking at this set for my next purchased. Would love to get it!. Thank you!

@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews It sounds like that configuration would be a good configuration for your next collab. It would break people's minds and get a lot of attention for being so different.
This is the kinda (honest take) stuff that the hobby needs
A straight review with some insights on it. Nice!
An interesting thing about the ET142 is that the FR looks like an exaggerated S15, but the graph follows the same "twists and bends", which could mean it's the same or related driver, but with less damping. I wish we could post our Spotify wrap up so you could recommend IEMs based on what we listen to the most.

HBB - thank you for being honest and looking out for the community 🙏
Wow. Quite surprised Simgot's tuning on this one didn't get a rec from HBB.

Hope that one ends up well!
I'm sure they will take the feedback and improve the next set. Thank you for the warning on these!
Very instructive video. I've never owned a planar IEM, I have some headphones, to me usually is more low end than impact, but that it's only my impression. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work! ❤
Thanks for lesson on Planar vs DD. Interesting stuff. 👍
Happy Friday HBB😊
Appreciate the great review and open discussion
Excellent explanation and very helpful thanks 👍
Thanks for the review. It seems that Simgot needs to work on this set a bit more. Have a great weekend.
When do you think we'll be able to buy planar subs
These seem perfect for me, with nice sub-bass and boosted mids and treble. But then again I love Koss Portapros with a treble EQ boost and Grados. Different strokes...Great review BTW
Thank you for the hones review as always.
Interesting explanation Chris I understand now about weird Pena gain and peaks in upper treble and your curve sloping down very well now thanks for the information 🙏🏼
This set wasn't even on my radar, but I'm glad I know now. That GNX is the shiz. 💯 🔥
Nice and honest review! Looks like they are using their normal simgot sound on a planar which doesn't work.
i thought these came with tuning nozzles, those dont help with the sound?
First Simgot that missed the mark for awhile, but companies have to keep trying different things. Thank you for the review.
thank you for explaining where planars really shine, its a pretty looking set from a solid company. I wonder if this set can benefit from EQ?
im looking forward to seeing how planars will improve over the next few years
Nice explanation of the differences in DDs and planars
Always nice to taste new planars

It is always sad, when final product is not good, even when they put a lot of work into it. But thanks for your honesty. Cheers 🤟
Wow, you added an audio track for different languages, great, what a shame things didn't turn out well with this Simgot iem, being a brand that has earned recognition for doing things right.
Happy Friday… Simgot in the house!!!
Nice analysis! 👍
Honest review once again!
Knew this was gonna be an ear bleeder based on the drivers 😂 Simgot loves that bright sound
So helpful! I always consider any Simgot release, but it seems that I will skip these out.
Dude, still rocking my s12s every day and they hold their own against many other more expensive sets I've gotten since.
Thanks for planar explanation, much appreciated when youre a newbie like me. Cheers ✌️
Looks like it's for treble heads only. Great explanation on planars 👌🏼
Thanks for the review
Thanks for the great brake down and review, in my opinion S08 for the money is still hard to beat
Great vid as always

My SM4 has troubles recently so i might be looking into this!
I wonder how it compares to the letshuoer s08
Really nice video, thanks!
Thanks for the review bro

Interesting set. Like you said the tuning seems off. I wonder if the planar iem space will have more sets with issues like this as the planar iem space gets more interesting.
Curious what other reviews would say
LOL
Simgot planar straight after Timeless 2
bad news for Timeless 2?
Neither are a thread to S15 IMO w/ my library
Timeless tuning looks more polished.
Yo what happened to supermix4, it was super hyped and then nothing
Will stick with my S12 2024 ed. Such a good set.
I appreciate the honesty. I love a well done planar, it’s a shame this one was tuned in such a way and is a bit surprising coming from such a reputable company.
