This mission reminded me of the Sturmbock units flying heavaly armoured 190s and being easy prey for the escorts. Brave men they were.

Curious, were the cowl mounted MG's used as a "sighting device" for the 20/30 mm canons by most pilots?
The cannon's rounds have different ballistic charachteristics, so I don't think that was a thing. 7.92 isn't effective against heavies and 12.7mm barely. When I'm out of cannon ammo, I just return to base.
What does the "S" shield on the engine cowling represent? Is that from "Bombo" Kommander Schenck's outfit?

This is so cool but, I have both games and quite a decked out il 2 sturmovik great battles in terms of dlc but I just suck at it and I'd have to get something like a track IR or VR

I am looking to get into IL-2 and figured id ask, what made you stick with 1946 as opposed to the newer games?
The ability to do the exact scenario you are watching right now. There simply are no heavies in BoX.
@@Fishyyy That is probably the biggest issue with BoX. DCS has 4-engine heavy bombers, but you're never gonna get a formation like that unless you want to watch a slideshow of it.
I did two of those 60 bomber formations at a time before. These days three might work, who knows. Tidal wave worked decently with over 130 bombers & a ton of other stuff.

@@CueBall909 DCS can support huge bomber formations easily even in vr these days...just gotta have a top spec Alder Lake/Ryzen cpu.

I am still waiting for one more AI change. Once it's done, we will officially release the mod and give detailed information how to use it. For now, you'll have to download the mission and take a look in the FMB :)

No and yes.
They're usually on YPack, but if you're playing alone, I'd stick with VP

Can human players get on both sides at the same time?
yes. But Idk if BAT B17 is available for multiple player gunners or not.
Yes, people can be in a B-17 and in every other aircraft type at the same time.
This is the HSFX B-17 used in Ypack and with Barnesy's and our own fixes applied. It has nothing to do with BAT. We do not use BAT and I actively discourage people from using it.
@@Fishyyy Could you tell me why? Is it because of that 81Gb in memory?
BAT is based on 4.12 and we absolutely prefer 4.13, because of its multicrew and bombsight features. Most of the things in BAT are of low quality. For example: beacon indicators, multicrew positions and animations rarely work. For me personally, the big deal breaker is that things that DO work in single player, usually still do not work in replays. Also, it is an 81Gb "single player" mod pack without a significant AI mod, which is an absolute joke to me.
Anekdote: We would like to fly a Bf 110 Lancaster/Halifax interception as multicrew. One guy as the pilot, one as radar operator and one as rear gunner. This is how BAT's multicrew setup in the Bf 110 G-4 is: Pilot can see the cockpit and the radar. The rear gunner can see the rear gun and the "radio compartment". The radio compartment actually exists twice in that version, one time with the radar screens and one time without. The rear gunner cannot access the version WITH the radar. I actually tested all nightfighter versions in BAT and all are either set up in that dumb way, or straight up only have one multiplayer slot. The Mosquito, He-219, and even the Me-262 night fighter version only have one slot. How exactly is anybody supposed to use the radar AND stare into the night sky looking for a bomber, at the same time?
This is only one of the things I have tested, I can rant about things like that in BAT all day.
