The effects I felt from taking too much extended relesease Carbidopa/Levedopa. Be careful taking your medications! #parkinsons #parkinsonsawareness #medication #yopd
Also, re: disorientation/dizzy. if you sit up and feel like the walls are moving, and your dizzy is not like lightheadedness, but more like being in a aircraft in a nosedive, and you feel like you are getting knocked around, it could be vertigo. osteoporosis is connected to pd. osteoporosis is linked to vertigo because vertigo happens when ear crystals stay in the ear canal. and cant find their way home. ear crystals are calcium carbonite, that leaches out, like bones do. esp in winter when vit d levels are. lower. vertigo can be fixed in 5 minutes w/ a trained pt..
First, I love your TH-cam name: GoingBonkerswithPD. And two, my mom and aunt get vertigo and I'm so afraid to get it (I heard it's hereditary). My sister in law is a Physical Therapist so we know the drill to fix it...not fun, but it does work. It was not vertigo. It was definitely med related. I was feeling that way before I stood up and it was literally gone as soon as it was out of my system, thank goodness! But great points to bring up and discuss as a lot of people experience vertigo.
I don't use prescribed medication. I reversed from stage three to almost no symptoms at all. The medication doesn't sound like much fun to me. Sorry this happened to you Jessica. Hope your feeling better.
Thank you for sharing this information. I am a new subscriber to your podcast and new to having Parkinson's. I am glad that you are OK. My medication right now is fairly straightforward. One low dosage Sinemet every eight hours but that will probably change and get more complicated over time. I am fortunate in that this is all happening to me later in life and not young like you and many others. Keep up the good fight. You are making a difference. Your podcast is very helpful and greatly appreciated. Grazie and ciao ❤
Yes, your medication regimen will change - mine was every 3-6 months. I wasn't prepared for that so hopefully your MDS shared that with you. It is totally normal. It will slow down at times and feel like it speeds up at other times. Hang in there and EXERCISE!! :)
I hate that woozy feeling …..I get it when I change doses and meds etc. So it makes sense that you got it with the extra dose. A fab reason to have a little lie down and relax.😊
About a week ago I made the same mistake walking out of Walmart I felt sick to my stomach like I had to run to the bathroom light-headed to the point where I lay down in the car and fell asleep because I felt drugged. I had taken two carpet levodopa instead of one with one selegiline , both small one yellow one white. I slept for a half hour then was able to drive about a mile to the next door still didn't feel well enough to get out. Of the car. laid down again in the parking lot until it wore off. I don't think I'll make that mistake again
Isn't it crazy! I would have made the same decision as you if I were alone but thankfully we just got done shooting a few podcasts so Steve and his wife were there...and my mom was on the phone and super nervous so I felt bad. Horrible to think I would have tried to drive 20 minutes back home. But I probably would have stopped at the end of his driveway it was that bad. Today (1 week later), it was 2:10 and I couldn't remember if I took my 2pm pills, checked my pill case and only saw one dose left (which would be my 6pm dose). But I honestly don't remember taking the 2pm dose. I didn't want to chance it because of what I did last week so I made the assumption that I took the 2pm. By 3 or 4pm I realized I did not take the 2pm and I just accidentally shorted my pill case for the day. So very slow and sluggish until 6pm. But it was soooooo much better than overdosing. Oh the fun stories we have 🙃
I accidentally took too much extended release Carbadopa Early in the morning was not paying attention half asleep thought I was taking my vitamins 🙄 I was fine no side effects fortunately
I take 2 carb/levo ER every night. it kicks in faster (peaks in 30 mins) then trails down, staying at a lower level for a few hours longer than standard c.l. i take reg c/l 5 6-7 times a day (2) 25/100. I HAVE taken a full double dose of CL, a few times. I was. dyskenetic, breathing short, hyped up. I've counteracted my mistake by quickly eating an egg. protein interference = protein to the rescue!
@@Adelanteavanza when I got home after I had taken too much carpa leave adopa I did eat some protein just for the reason you said to help the wearing off faster or less assimilation good tip

I never understood how they could say that if someone takes c/l who doesn't have parkinson's it wouldn't do harm. Doesn't make sense ....
I threw away the extended release because it made me very dizzy.

Yikes. I didn't know that levodopa could have such a powerful effect. I've been more worried about the apomorphine and clonazepam.

It’s awful. I’ve forgotten that I’ve taken my c/l and taken it twice before. Not a good time.
it happens! When I accidentally take to much I eat a lot of protein to help block the absorption. Hugs.
Here in New Zealand they are opposite colors.
Love your podcast very useful and informative
That's interesting. I wonder why. It's a global product, right? Wish mine was like green or red ;)

I wonder if there's a pendulum swing reaction as it leaves your system?

Would it help to eat some protein to get rid of the excess? Since levodopa and protein are absorbed at the same spot, I wonder, would it help?
It does for me
Great idea

I’m glad you are ok! I only take cr at bed time. Ttyl ❤
What is the dosage of your ER tablets?
I call it dopamine drunk.
I hate that feeling it's so miserable...😢 You seem calm.
We've all done that lol. Although I'm a large dude it didn't really do anything adversely to me. I think my pupils were huge though!
I felt like mine were and I kept looking but they looked fine. Yeah, c/l hits women differently in general I think.
I kinda like it. I just go lie down for an hour or so and explain to everyone what’s happened.
Don’t be scared. It soon passes :)
