- Tate Martell is one of the most hyped prospects ever, but his college career has been rather unsuccessful. Heres what I think we can learn from him.

after watching QB1 I have to admit I had a little pleasure watching his struggle. I know, I'm an adult and should be more concerned with his growth through this process. Maybe he will. I got similar vibes from Spencer Rattler and am hoping he is maturing as his career seems to be going well.

One danger of playing at super programs like Bishop Gorman and IMG is that you are surrounded by incredible players that can carry you. I'm not saying that that happened to Tate, but we've seen it happen plenty of times. When Martell scrambles and throws that long TD in this video to his HS teammate, it's a 50/50 ball that the WR makes an awesome play on the ball.
You can watch him on QB1 and see he was going to have issues in college. He’s arrogant and needs humility.

He wouldn't have started there either. Hes just not good enough. He was 3rd string at Miami behind Nkoso Perry and Jerron Williams. His football career is done. Hes the biggest bust in CF history. And most people don't feel sorry for him because of how he acted.

Just a heads up in the part where I put a compilation of Tate wylin out on QB1: beyond the lights I had to trim it out in order to avoid a copyright claim (so hopefully you guys can use your imagination or just go watch QB1, its sick). I currently have two copyright strikes from one video because I was being careless with some wrestling clips. I'm going to be careful about what I post for the next two months until the strikes expire so I can avoid any issues and not have my channel terminated. I appreciate all the support on the vid! Expect more college football content from this channel because it is most definitely my passion!

Baker mayfield is around that too lol and Tate is actually a good athlete. Baker has a cannon obviously but the main difference was their attitudes. Baker and those other guys wanted to work and were hungry because they were doubted. Tate was never doubted. Not once. He expected to start anywhere and be that dude from day one, which he wasn’t

Ohio State had problems with Tate from the beginning, he show up as a freshmen late for camp, He tried to quit the team twice before he transferred, He was known as a Helicopter Kid, He knew Haskins was leaving the following year so he claimed during the Bowl game the team was his the next year, when word got out about Justin Fields looking at Ohio State he started getting mouthy, made comments on Twitter, and when Justin finally decided to come to Ohio State Tate then didn't want to battle for the starting job he threw a fit and left, Cant say I was sad to see him go either. Oh and Justin got the last laugh, because he didnt swing and miss,
Even Tate knew he didn't stand a chance against Justin, a guy who should've started at Georgia.

Nice disclaimer 👍 I feel these young kids are almost a product of the system and transfer portal where instant success is glorified over sticking it out. Not to mention social media has exponentially made this worse.

It's just amazing how fast his fall was. Like in 2018, no OSU fan thought that he would be a flameout not even 1 calender year later.
And he still has a chance, albeit a small one, to resurrect himself or make something of it. Transferring to even a small school and playing solid ball there would at least give some type of stable conclusion to his career

I’m 3 months late but great video. I loved season 1 of QB1. Saw Tate and he just stood out to me against the two other guys. I could really see something in Tate like I saw NFL potential. For sure as far as high school careers go, his is the best my generation will ever see. Very disappointed in his college career and I really don’t think he’s gonna play in the NFL now. He’s already a redshirt junior. If we could go back I’d like to see Tate commit to a school where he would knowingly go to start as a true freshman and play 3-4 years and be drafted. All that trash talk just to go on to Ohio State and realize you’re gonna be 3rd string and redshirt? I don’t wanna say anything bad about the guy I love watching him as an athlete but his only chance is either starting as a senior or transferring to start as a senior and it’ll be like another Joe Burrow situation at best. Very disappointed if I’m honest I had so much hope for him years and years ago.

He's an adult now, so he is accountable for himself, but his upbringing and the adults in his life are partly to blame. Parents, coaches, recruiting gurus, play a role in creating these narcissitc young men. I got the same type of vibe from Spencer Rattler.
Next time we hear about him is heading to some addict rehabilitation or prison. His entitlement and lack of accountability and humility will be his worse enemy.
Rattler looks like a star.. Tate did not have any college level talent. I have seen it so many times. Kids smoking high school kids on great teams. They get to a level of high competition and fade out. That’s his story. 🤷🏼♂️

I actually know Tate and he’s a really stand up guy. And whether you believe me or not, he’s actually very humble in regards to his high school career. As far as him “getting whatever he wants” as everyone is saying, I know his dad as well and that’s not the case. The QB1 show was good, and a good insight to all the QBs lives, but it doesn’t show the whole picture. Oh a 17 year old that’s been told since 8th grade he’s one of the best in the nation is confident and comes off as cocky? Jesus, someone call the times because that’s never happened. Just so everyone’s aware, there’s been PLENTY of cocky quarterbacks coming from rich families that get everything they want and making the NFL. Having seen the work Tate has been putting in especially as of late, he’s gonna shine for UNLV in my opinion. You never know, but I would also not judge the kid by a documentary that was made when he was at the peak of his high school stardom. This world is insane, they make these people famous and give them a platform, and then the second that fame gets to them, they’re just as quick to tear them down. Tate’s still a bright and nice guy, and he has a bright future in whatever he decides to do…

I really don’t think he will. It’s kind of sad, but it’s just reality. I remember listening to 97.1 the fan in the Columbus area, and James Laurinaitis and Bo Bishop we’re absolutely gushing about Martell. That was the first time I’ve ever heard of him, and I was super pumped for his future with my Buckeyes. Absolutely mind boggling how his college career panned out.

Went 4-7 his Freshman year n QUIT ON HIS TEAMMATES n transferred. Sure he won at Bishop Gorman, as does everyone. Look at the other players on those teams, lol it’s crazy stacked. Gets to College and Every time the kid is challenged he quits n goes elsewhere. Transferring once is almost expected now… but twice? He couldn’t start at Miami, couldn’t even backup as my guess is, he’s probably on the bench thinking he’s better than the team players ahead of him on the Depth Chart. He can’t compete so we shall see if he walks on at UNLV n does something. But who knows, too many people has told him he’s great for too long and the worst part is, he actually believed it. His sister is the real MVP though. Great video by the way 🤘🏽

I don't think it has anything to do with attitude. Most D1 guys, no matter what position, have a degree of arrogance and if talking ish was a negative there wouldn't be enough guys to play football on any field in the United States. It isn't arm strength either. It is one of two things. He either isn't making the right reads or it is measurables. Russell Wilson got the boot at NC State for a guy that has turned out to be a career backup. Measurables are EVERYTHING to coaches at the D1 level.
I thought Wilson transferred to Wisconsin to prove he could play behind big lineman. At least that's what he has said anyway. I legit don't know the situation at NC State.

Say what u want about the guy but he’s got a lot of talent, we’re all human at the end of the day hope he ends up changing his own narrative.
To this day, if he had gone to WVU instead of Miami his career would’ve been significantly better. He would’ve got to play in the wide open big 12 and would’ve been the undisputed starter. Not saying he would’ve been good by any means, but WVU was by far the better choice over Miami
No one told rhis kid no....until college, and all he was told was no. No precedent in his life for adversity, he never had to dig in and fight. Parents, coaches, and others just told him how great he was...and that is key, was not is.
