  • A group of whale watchers got to check off seeing the world’s largest animal up close from their bucket list on August 1, when a nearly 100-foot-long blue whale swam beneath their boat.

The watcher who filmed the footage told Newsflare, ‘It’s totally rare to have this species behave in such a friendly manner. Typically blue whales are very focused on feeding and not too interested in coming over to say hi. But this whale made repeated passes directly under us. Please remember this encounter happened all while the boat’s engines were turned off and not moving. A few times a year, we get to see whales initiate these special encounters.’

I never understand why some people are so mesmerized by an animals spatial awareness of their own size, its not that impressive the whale has nerves and feels things too😂

Do you see how intelligent they are???
How he went a couple of feet below the boat and paused slightly and made sure he did NOT even let his tail touch or disturb the boat, then floated until he cleared the boat THEN CAME UP TO THE SURFACE FOR AIR...
    They are awesome!!!

What make you assume that? stop humanizing animals. the whale wasn't being careful with the humans in the boat, but probably thought the boat was a creature and wanted to be careful.

Due to commercial whaling a lot of the larger blue whales were hunted so you wouldn’t really see a blue whale this big due to most of them being dead. Now that whaling has mostly stopped (except for Japan and Norway I believe) blue whales are finally starting to get back to the size they were before whaling.

I think it's the other way around. They are part of nature and live in harmony within those boundaries.
WE are the oddity, destroying everything we get near. Our arrogance keeps telling us that we are superior, yet (and this is low-balling the numbers) 3 species are going extinct every hour because of human activity.
We need to clean up our act, and stop worshipping big industry.
