Hey guys, Dan here from Berkley, the larger three sizes of the money badger (6.25, 6.75, 7.25) were actually built for bass! We originally were developing the smaller size 4 and 5 for the walleye market but the action we hit was that perfect aggressive craw action, so I scaled them up and put a heavy tungsten weight transfer system in them that creates a very subtle, yet deep sound knock when cranked. Also put a smaller clicking rattle in the bait for dimensional depth. The action though is key, and so we amplified the side roll of the bait to crank up the action! I love cranking for bass and to me this is one of the best cranks we ever built for Berkley!!
Hi!
Is there any science or reason when it comes to figuring out where to position the hooks on a new crankbait?
When are you going to rename this color to Rudds blazin rage?
Any ideas for a larger mid depth model? 6-8.
@@BattleattheBank what do you mean? I think the 6.25 badger already dives 8-10 feet
Great info! Thanks Dan.
For a better test change who is throwing which bait. Ive outfished buddies traded lures with them and still caught more. Ive also been on the losing side of that unfortunately. Sometimes its the cast placement and lure retrieve that matters. I like both of these crankbaits alot. Both proven fish catchers.
100% agree, I was going to comment the same thing. Swap baits to take the "skill if angler" out of the equation.
💯. It’s not ALL the bait . He’s averaging 2-3 cast to every one of the other guy. Also rod line and retrieve can make difference so it’s not all the lure
By no means am I hating on either bait here, but fishing a public lake where those fish have probably seen a rock crawler a billion times, throwing something like the money badger which has a slightly different appearance between profile and color, can make a HUGE difference in determining if you get that bite or not. There’s gonna be a time and place for both, as they are both AMAZING crankbaits, as the first lake in this video showed that. All love Alex, keep the good content up!
I think you should have switched bait to verify a little more that the moneybadger is the best crankbait on the market. Awesome work alex. Thanks for turning me on to a great bait.
Thank you for this excursion. You were truly cranking them in! Just got Money Badgers for Yule gifts. Looking forward to using them. Best of 2024. Tight Lines Forever (TLF)
Great video. I would not have imagined how ineffective the crawler would have been given your fishing conditions.
Man that water is beautiful! I've always thrown the Rk 55 crawlers but you turned me on the money badger! Fished a local tournament with it and got 4th out of 40 something boats! Great video as always and I would love to see more like it in the future!
RUDD needed a good video to watch. Appreciate your positive attitude you bring, been needing it lately
I've used Spro's for quite some time just started using the Money Badger not long ago it's not bad but I'm thinking of going back to my favorite the Spro here soon and compare. Great video as always!
I know this is an older video but I think a chesty on the other dude would give us a better depiction of his rod angle and reeling speed. Or better yet, y’all switch rod, reel and bait after x amount of fish. Clearly, you know how the fish want the bait you are using.
Well Alex, your gonna finally make me break down and buy one of these crazy looking money badges! 😂
I’ve never thrown the Money Badger, but after watching several of your videos I feel like it’s already a “confidence bait”. Picked up a few and looking forward to hitting the water!
You should do a video with the money badger blaze against the RAPALA dt-6 demon color.
Alex this was a fun video to watch . I'm gonna keep them both in my box. good stuff.
I was over at Bass Pro the other day and figured I'd pick up a few Money Badgers in the blaze color. Apparently everyone else watched your last video also, there was one left and I grabbed it.
do this again but both of you use the money badger lol then it will be a true compatition
Bro you are UNBELIEVABLE with that thing. Nice job money badger.
I would have liked to have seen you switch and throw the rock crawler while your friend threw the money badger to see if the fisherman makes a difference.
He needs to cast to ketch something on the RK Crawler.
now im gonna expect the Alex Rudd custom spro lure booth at the east Tennessee fishing expo. 🤣🤣🤣
You got me to buy one, I really suck at crankbait fishing. I’m lucky if I casted it 3 times and lost it.😂 I’ll get a few when spring. Weather sucks in PA right now. Looks like you just got a steady retrieve and are hammering them. Probably a good bait for a beginner like myself.
I believe that the two of you should have switched baits that your friend should have thrown the money Badger and you throw the rock crawler I just think there's too many variables between two people cranking .
I honestly don’t understand this sentiment. It’s like saying DoBoer and Harbaugh should have switched teams durning half time of the National Championship 😅 - he picked his bait I picked mine and we put them 1 v 1 😁
@@AlexRuddFishing all I'm saying is that what's the difference really in the crankbait or the person throwing the crankbait my mistake sorry
No need to apologize. This is just the classic debate, is it the angler or the bait. Make this Jackhammer v Slobberknocker and this discussion changes with most viewers. The Jackhammer is what makes the difference not the angler using it. It’s just funny to see people different perceptions of different baits.
@@AlexRuddFishing I agree with that but in this case, are both crankbaits running at the same depth ? The actions on the two baits are different right ? What size line is your friend throwing as opposed to you? One person throwing the same crankbait in the same boat doesn't always happen the same way . That's what I meant by different variables . There's a reason why David Fritz cranks with braids instead of fluorocarbon, and the most important color on a crankbait is the bottom . What caught my eye about the video was rock crawler versus money badger.
We were throwing same exact rod length, action, reel gear ratio, line size, etc.
Hey Alex great vid your going to make me get a couple of those lol. What was the water temp ??? Keep up the the great content I am always learning something .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
43-45
Hey Alex, I have seen you throw the 6.25 money badger on several rods in the last year or so. Which do you like best? The winch? Fenwick elite? I’m finding it kinda hard to choose since it weighs in at 3/8oz which tends to end up on the lower end of the range of quality cranking rods. Thanks for the help and great information.
Great question. The Winch 7’ M is what I’ve settled on for a bit. It seems to be the best for the job.
Wow talk about a beatdown you really put it on your buddy that was about a stark of a difference and plug actions that I've ever seen and that's all that it could be😮
I don’t think it’s the color. I think it’s the shoes!! 😂 Alex it looks like your wearin Hey Dudes! My go to fishin shoes!! 😂😂😂
Caught a 5.5 pound largemouth on tellico today with the blaze money badger. Anyone that knows that lake knows that is a big fish on that high pressure lake. I am sold on the money badger!!!!
Can't beat the hook up to land ratio on the Berkeley hard baits; best hard bait stock hooks 🤘🤘✌️🖖
What depth were they in? You hitting bottom ?
My wallet is empty to some of your video before this on 12 in to different sizes and colors and 15 bass i two fishing trips keep the video coming and happy new year
That's one cool deep running Berkley Money Badger you have to realize Alex we here in Southern California don't always have in stock Berkley fishing in stock I think I would buy more fishing tackle from Berkley if you sold there tackle ( crankbait, line, hooks) etc..... on your channel it's helps supports your channel and we get to see the news tackle available when it comes out.
Everything is available to purchase using the links in my description and pinned comment.
Instead of painting the bait, y'all should've just swapped baits to see if the catches would follow the bait or the fisherman.
Great Video! Always appreciate your content!
It would be interesting to see what would happen if you just cut your stock baits off and swap with each other. It could be a speed thing even though you have the same gear ratio
I just think your a fish catching GOD.. You needed to switch out lures to see if it was you being a fish magnet or the lure.
I think you could have done one more thing to make it even more equal. Halfway through you should have switched Baits and seeing if he started catching them like you. I think that would have really shown the true colors of the badger, which I love by the way. PS. Love the videos.
Michael appears to make about a third of the casts as our leader.
I don’t see where you linked the paint you used to paint the Spro, can you post it in a reply?
Check out the pinned comment
You should have let him throw it and you throw the other.
Great video nice bait
■■■...you should have just switched rods/baits with each other (i did notice you cranked faster then your buddy too...)
That money badger is my absolute favorite crankbait of all time. I didn’t gain confidence on a crankbait until I started throwing a money badger, it just plain works. Around here they love the rootbeer craw color, and even if you don’t get a bass to bite you’ll get rainbows trying to choke that thing.
Oh man, that’s a cool competition
Just ordered some money badgers. How long will that blaze color work? Thru the spawn, all year, or winter only?
Blaze will work all the way through spring. Normally once the water hits the upper 50s the bite starts slowing down
@@AlexRuddFishing thx, I really appreciate your interaction here with us in the comments. It’s rare.
Thx again!!!
I knew how this one would turn out right away because otherwise I doubt you post this is the Money Badger lost. 😆 But I didn't expect that bad of a beatdown. I love both baits. I seem to do better with the SPRO for smallies and Money Badger for largemouths.
I’m planning more videos like this. Win, loose, or draw they’re getting posted.
What state you fishing in . Looks cold
TN and it had been a unseasonably cold year.
No mittens ! Must not be to cold😊. Whats your water temp?
43-45
Just curious. I know them billed cranks ain't working here in pa . What state are u in?
Either way, great video!!
Swap baits halfway through
Would love to know just how many Money Badgers you have sold. I know you have cost mea couple hundred.
The reel gear ratio was the same en both reels?
Yes
What is your favorite Size in the money badger
6.25
I don’t see the link to the blaze paint. Can you help?

Happy New 2041👊🤘🫶👍🎣🎣🎣
That ole badger is bout to put on a show that rk😂is bout yo get thumped
It’s days like these that make me wish I was down there in your neck of the woods and not Ohio!
Maybe it's the black stripe on the back . Maybe yall should trade rods each catch to make sure it's not the technique that's making the difference.
Love the money badger myself. Lets go 👊
Give Michael a money badger next time!!
What was the water temperature?
45-48 if I remember correctly.
Awesome video Alex. Money Badger is king all year 🤴
Bet spro is loving this video
Was the bottom rocks ?
Yes
What size was the money badger. Keep up the good work
Check out the pinned comment.
I’ve heard of people throwing red in the spring, but never in the middle of winter… interesting 🤔
Should have switched rods. Alex that wasn't fair Micheal deserves a rematch.lmao
Whats the running depths of both baits used?
10-15'
Money Badger for the win🐟🎣🐟🎣
I just ordered a money badger
Money badger is the real deal caught a 4lb bass last feb
give this man a money badger already lol them two cranks dont even compare you dont put a money sign on a bait if its not money.
Runs different depths probably
Both run 12-15’
Imma take a quick guess before you all start . The rock crawler is gonna win. Very hard to beat a rock crawler .
Lol 😂 over here eating crow ..... Ok money badger putting in some work.
Should of swapped baits
This is the worst run challenge I’ve ever seen .. you spray painted his bait ?
👀👀👊🏻
