There’s a new RSC in Valparaiso IN. Just got my 2008 16610 done there and it’s nearly as new. Kept the original bezel insert and it’s keeping to 1sec +- a day. Didn’t have to mail it off. Took about 13weeks. Well worth the wait for the first service in 16yrs.
Something is off here. You can deal with RSCs directly. Not sure what AD you used and where they sent it to. The RSCs are indeed in Dallas and New York. Seems like the bezel is still stiff. I don’t believe this was done by Rolex. They would’ve sold you a new bezel insert also (good thing they didn’t).
Thank you for sharing your experience. The super jubilee bracelet of the 1162xx fits on the 116710 and I think it may also fit on the 16710. It’s worth a try.
Yes, my DateJust is 116234, but i didnt know if it would fit my GMT 16710. I might try it out, but I would still prefer a genuine Jubilee like they made in the 2000’s with the basic Oysterclasp.
Bezel rotation can be fixed in 3 seconds and for free. I have had the opposite problem, the rotation was too loose so I took it to Bucherer and they replaced the little metal piece. It turned just perfect and they didn't even charge me. The bezel can be changed as well for $100 at Bucherer if you just ask them.
I would have removed the handset before sending to Rolex. Nothing wrong with getting new hands, insert, and bracelet, but always remove them to keep them before sending to Rolex. You can always reinstall the originals to retain value
Good info. But one suggestions: Please tone down the narrow depth of field, and open it up more by setting the f stop to a higher number. About half the video, the focus is on your hand/fingers rather than on the watch.
Yep, Rolex USA doesn’t seem to care much about honoring special requests for bracelets and bezels. Seem to be very protective about any and all alterations.
I went to a rolex boutique in amsterdam with my 1991 16700 where they were happy to sell me both a new bezel insert (giving me free choice in coke, pepsi or all black for 200€ and replaced it on spot) and a jubilee for 1100€ having to wait only six weeks. The only thing i can imagine is that the 16710 didn’t originally come with a jubilee but this is something i don’t know tbh.
I think you might be right. Maybe my particular 16710 was not originally available on jubilee. I will need to do some research on the D serial numbers from 2005-2006.
I understand, but I just wish I had the option of a crisp new bezel, that I could switch out with a faded bezel. I like both, but I'll keep the one I have.
I greatly reduce the value of my life Rolex explorer by Rin placing the hands with new hands even though they looked the same. I had also replace the original band with a Jubilee band. Greatly reduce the value of the watch. I just sent my watch to New York City for service and they sent it to Dallas Texas. I know you had mentioned Lititz Pennsylvania which is a very rural area of Pennsylvania. I know there are numerous companies that do service the watches, but I agree with you and the fact that send it to Rolex is the way to go.
Service was a great idea. They rob you Brother. They keep like parts they replaced. And those parts are impossible to replace. I just had my Rolex datejust two tone, black stick dial took two weeks to have serviced, full bracket down, clean oils, new sealed, buff and or polished for 200 USD one year warranty. Had band stretch on jubilee. All new pins now is like new. Cost only 150 USD AND TWO WEEKS TO GET IT BACK. GREAT VIDEO. DON'T EVER LET THEM KEEP YOUR PARTS. GREAT JOB. NEAL APOLLO BEACH FLORIDA
I would send the watch in without the entire bezel and bracelet next. I did the same with my 16710 when they refused to replace the bezel without retaining the old one hence they ended up selling me the entire bezel but here in Malaysia, RSC only replace the bezel insert as that originally comes with the watch where I preasumed they have a good record keeping on that. Surprisingly, they offered me if I wanted rhe jubilee bracelet which I was happy to purchase it. So I guess not all RSC around the world have the same practice. I also noticed the new bezel spring was different (shorter) from the old one which turns and click much better as compared to my old one.
In retrospect, I should have just sent in the naked watch head to RSC, then I could have gotten a new Jubilee bracelet and new bezel insert. But now my AD and RSC know I have already have a fair condition Oyster bracelet and bezel insert…
@@sc1 I would not let that deter you as I initially sent in my watch for quote on what needed to be serviced and upon knowing they will not return the bezel if replaced, I decided to cool off for about a month then sent in the watch without the bezel for complete replacement. They didn't even ask how I lost the bezel.
That’s disappointing that they refused to sell you a Jubilee bracelet and replacement bezel; it’s like they’re doing you a favour, when YOU are the customer. The two tone Daytona idea gets a 👍 from me.
Yeah, half the reason i sent it in was to service the movement and refinish the case and bracelet, but the other half was to replace the bezel and add a new Jubilee bracelet, but they denied my last two requests.
Unfortunately your info on the service centers is incorrect as there is definitely a service center in Dallas TX. The address of said center is: 2601 N Harwood St, Dallas, TX 75201. Maybe your AD only sends to one near your state? Also i know many people who purchased the Jubilee bracelet separate from their watches via the AD. Id maybe go into a different AD local to you and just ask them directly if you can but the Jubilee that fits your lugs as a separate item. Good luck and thanks for the vid!
Very True, I think I was given some inaccurate information, and maybe my AD is just steering business to the closest Rolex Service Center, I'm not sure if my specific GMT was ever originally produced with a Jubilee option, and maybe that's why they refused to sell me a Jubilee.
I’m pretty shocked they didn’t change out the bezel for a new one. As others say, your AD should be able to order you a jubilee. I was told I could order a new bracelet for my 40mm Explorer 2 from the AD for 1200. Changing the hands and polishing it wouldn’t hinder it in my mind since it wasn’t a tritium dial/hands and since the polish was done well by RSC. I have never even heard of a center in PA. Are you close to NYC? I would walk mine into the offices there if you get another one serviced. Day trip!
I’m not sure if my AD is giving me the correct information, but they said that sending it to the RSC in Lititz was the only option. I googled it up, and people on the forums have had their watches sent there. It’s located next to the Rolex Watch Technicum where Rolex trains its watchmakers. The Lititz RSC takes overflow work from other RSCs and accepts watches directly from ADs, especially local ADs, but they don’t take work directly from customers. (I actually live closer to Lititz than NYC)
My AD definitely said no about getting a jubilee bracelet. Now I’m suspecting the reason is maybe my particular GMT originally only came available with an oyster bracelet, and Rolex is notorious about not wanting to mix and match parts. But replacing the bezel sounds like one of the easiest things to do. I would have thought they would be happy to do that.
As far as I know they won’t change out a pepsi bezel for a coke bezel . They will only change the same bezel for like bezel . As far as the Jubilee bracelet you need to make sure that it is for a 16710 model and not the 116710 that has different dimensions because 116710 is different in the lugs and you can tell more bulky . You should be able to get a 16710 Jubilee bracelet for you Pepsi and you can order it from your AD.
Yes, that’s understandable if they won’t change my Pepsi to the Coke bezel, but I directly asked my AD to order a 16710 Jubilee bracelet, but they said Rolex would not do it. I still don’t know why.
@@sc1 I’ll talk to my AD tomorrow , I have ordered 3 bracelets in the last year , one for my Tudor Tiger Chrono 79260P , one for my 16710 GMT master II coke and one for my brand new Date Just 41 that came with a oyster bracelet and I ordered the Jubilee bracelet . All three orders went to the ROLEX RSC from my AD and I received all three bracelets . I find out tomorrow but That doesn’t seem right .
I didn’t really get a clear answer on why. My AD just said they wouldn’t do that, and I couldn’t contact Rolex Service Center directly. Maybe the Jubilee doesn’t fit on the 2006 models, or my Oyster bracelet was in too good condition to replace, but I really don’t know….

This video is a little old but some of the info is incorrect. There is a RSC in Dallas and it deals directly with customers. That’s the only way I get my watches serviced.
Very strange that they didn’t change the bezel. I have been twice to the RSC in London and they have fitted an all black and a Coke bezel letting me keep the old one each time and recently I swapped over the Pepsi bezel for my 16710 as it got scratched.

It looks like your bezel isn’t turning properly now. Mine (2003 GMT II) doesn’t last past 4 years before it quits working and needs servicing - it’s 4th is coming up after sitting for the last 3 years in my drawer because it quit working again. I think their service is sub par.
Mine is a gmt too and it’s in for service. Mine was sent with no bracelet and they are adding a new oyster. I’m getting all new everything except movement. This was my grandpas Rolex and it was bashed up. Some may love that bashed to hell look but not me. And I’ll never sell this watch it will be passed down to the boys so resell is irrelevant. Gonna cost me something like 6k ouch!! But I’ll have a new watch basically!

Dud customer service from RSC. Not sure why you seek out for a period correct jubilee bracelet, they would be hollow end links. The Super jubilee you have on the datejust has solid end links(and solid links as well) and is far superior, just no comparison. Just switch, hidden clasp looks way better. Next time remove that bezel and go. They might charge you double the price for not coming with the ordinal bezel, but should be ok. Good content.

@@sc1 Yep, that should definitely work if you are interested in the hollow link jubilee bracelet. I have both jubilee bracelets and the same watch. I either put it on Oyster or super Jubilee.
Re the Jubilee bracelet you wanted--they'll replace the bracelet ONLY with the type of bracelet that came with the watch. If your watch had the Oyster type and got damaged, they'll only replace it with an Oyster bracelet.
I believe some GMTs came originally with option of either Jubilee or Oyster. How do I know if a 2005 Pepsi could have been originally issued on Jubilee? If so, could I just send in the watch head for service and say I lost the jubilee bracelet?
@@sc1 The RSC would know which type of bracelet came with the watch through its serial number so it doesn’t matter if you send it in without the bracelet.
It’s too much work for them to take apart the bracelet and rebuild it. They would rather just replace the whole bracelet if really needed. There are some independent shops that will replace all the pins and fix the stretch
Stiff bezel easy home fix, wash the bloody thing,, what you have succeeded in doing by consenting to the works and new parts is halved any vintage value the watch had! They prey on people's ignorance and trust,, all the vintage parts taken out of Rolex watches get assembled as a "new vintage" watch and sold on for a huge profit. If you think that's not true, then do your research, right here on TH-cam. A new Rolex is worth what you paid,, or thereabouts, but a vintage watch is worth much more in it's original worn condition. My 1983 GMT Master (Pepsi) is valued at well over £11,000 G B P , I bought it new for £800.in 83, if Rolex or anyone else "Restored" it, it would not be worth half of it's current value! The Moral is if it ain't broke don't fix it!!
Even after the Rolex Service Center took it apart and cleaned it in their ultrasonic machine (which I could not do at home) the bezel still does not work like new. I wouldn't consider my 2006 GMT to be "vintage" so I'm not worried about it losing value with new hands. I bought it used for $10,000 USD, and it's not valued extremely above that now. I would rather wear it, and have it look pristine, instead of worrying about it's "value"

My speedmaster 125 goes back to Switzerland for service. Takes 4 months. Been serviced twice since 73.

normally you can ask your AD for the jubilee, they told me that it's possible to get a brand new jubilee from the year of my 16710. Cost was €1500

Thank you, just took my 94 coke in for service. They wanted to change hands too. I requested used parts but… Cost was $900.
It's a matter of preference whether to change the hands. Some prefer to keep original parts. I'm ok with having new hands that look pristine.

yep, they didn't fix the bezel action, even though I asked them to. still very stiff turning, especially counter-clockwise.

You might have gotten a new bracelet…for a new bracelet price. They absolutely nothing for free.
The hands were corroded (slightly). I asked to buy a new bracelet, but they would not sell one to me. Was willing to pay for it.

If you think that's not true, then do your research, right here on TH-cam. A new Rolex is worth what you paid,, or thereabouts, but a vintage watch is worth much more in it's original worn condition. My 1983 GMT Master (Pepsi) is valued at well over £11,000 G B P , I bought it new for £800.in 83, if Rolex or anyone else "Restored" it, it would not be worth half of it's current value! The Moral is if it ain't broke don't fix it!!
Even after the Rolex Service Center took it apart and cleaned it in their ultrasonic machine (which I could not do at home) the bezel still does not work like new.
I wouldn't consider my 2006 GMT to be "vintage" so I'm not worried about it losing value with new hands. I bought it used for $10,000 USD, and it's not valued extremely above that now. I would rather wear it, and have it look pristine, instead of worrying about it's "value"
Had to amend as just gifted my Rolex to my son with all paperwork and it is a 1983. Cost me 800 GBP now conservatively valued at over £13,000 GBP.
