I was born in Thaba Nchu in 1964 and in 1979 the government declared our place of residence which is in town, a none residential area as it is part of the buffer area. We were forced to vacate the house in a short period of time and the place were sold at a dirt cheap amount as a business premises. This was done under the government legislation for independent states. We basically had to sell all we had and move to another town. My parents started their life all over again. I have so much memories about Thaba Nchu and our place of residence. The Moroka family were well known during that time, the Moroka hospital was named after Dr Moroka. My parents worked well with the community as they opened the first and manage the then Pep Stores. After 1979 our house is still used as a place of residence as the independent states in SA were not successful. I believe that we are entitled to land claim and have our place of residence back.
