- In this tutorial, we'll continue where we left off in Part 1, as we dig deeper into Geo, the new tool for easy and powerful 3D by Red Giant. We'll look at more advanced material behaviors - how to create transparent, refracted, and frosted glass, how to use roughness maps, how to use subsurface scattering and emission, and more. We'll also look at more advanced features of the Cloner in Geo, and finish with some tricks for getting a shallow depth of field effect, how to utilize free models in Cinema 4D for Geo, and even how to use Cinema 4D objects in Adobe Premiere.

Looks promising, good job Red Giant!
nice to see a big update with Cineware!
Izzz good! 💯
😮
what if I want rotation and scale effecting more towards the center not the side is there any way of doing that?
Not currently, but that's a great idea.
Is this true 3D in AE, do these objects interact with other 3D objects in 3D space? Or is this 'fake 3D'? For example, does this interact with Particular, do the particles move around GEO in 3D space?
Geo doesn't currently live natively in the same 3D space as Particular, but with the built-in Depth shader, it's easy to duplicate your layer and feed a depth pass to Particular to use as a Z Buffer layer. Is that something you'd like to see a tutorial on?
@@nate42 thanks for the answer, yes I would love to see a tutorial on that!
@@Vmshipe We'll mention it to some of our gang.
Good tutorials but as always these tend to skip steps. I want to see a tutorial creating something for a real world project from scratch. For example how do you import multiple 3d objects into a project when there only seems to be the option to import 1 at any time? Also how to create and import the different maps.
I agree. I'd also like the tutorial files. I'm not even sure what type of animated file format these models utilize.
Red Giant team member here. It was definitely a challenge trying to cover just a basic overview of everything Geo offers, even in two videos. We would love to delve into more specific use cases. What are some examples you would be most interested in? A tutorial on creating the texture maps for an asset in C4D for use in Geo is a great idea. Once you have the maps, they’re just imported into Ae like any other file. Currently, Geo only supports single objects in an instance. We’ll be working towards expanding on that.
@@nate42 I haven't used C4D in years. Is there a way to talk to someone on the Maxon site about upgrading my plan from Red Giant to Maxon One? I see no way to contact anyone in sales about this or no plan change options.
never mind. i found it. It's sort of hidden in manage subscriptions page.
@@nate42 On the latest "VFX and Chill" Michael had talked about setting up C4D cloth simulation of a sheet dropping or blowing, then in After Effects applying whatever image/text/video onto it with Geo so you can use it as a MOGRT. Something like that might be neat.
Goodbye element 3D
Indeed, E3D was completely abandoned and user needs to open a new interface which is not intuitive. This is really cool.
@@minimalfun We're glad you're excited! The "sticking in AE's effect control panel" part of this was one of the reasons we thought it would be a worthwhile tool to develop.
