About the "retaining wings," the video doesn't show them, and I suspect they are referring to the flat plastic that holds the steel needle. If that's the case, they need to come up with a real inserter so it's easier to hold. These diabetes supply companies should really involve real diabetics to design their products. We aren't all young people with full agility of fingers and eyes. Time for them to grow up and act like professional designers.

So true! I am 74 of age. The Autosoft set is very difficult to handle for my fingers, The TruSteel infusion set works better for me, but ... All sets and also the t:slim fits for young small individuals. The designers didn' t a very good job.
How did you get to watch for drips when you don’t take off cap till after?
Men should always shave the area where the cannula will insert. Surprised Tandem left that out.
I was scared to do this but it did not hurt at all, never felt the needle while inserting 😮

I use this infusion set and it’s amazing but the stick is not the best.
Thank you for letting us know about this. Products such as Tegaderm, IV Prep, and Skin Tac can be used to help prevent the site from falling off the body, while also serving as a barrier between the set’s adhesive and your skin. We advise using scissors to cut a hole in the center of the Tegaderm/IV Prep adhesive pad. This hole should be large enough to cover the site adhesive, but not the site connector.
Before applying the adhesive pad, insert the site into the body and disconnect the infusion set tubing from the site. Apply the Tegaderm/IV prep only over the adhesive portion of your site and ensure the site connector remains visible and uncovered. Once theTegaderm/IV prep is applied, reconnect your infusion set to the site. Skin Tac can also be applied directly to the skin (prior to inserting the site) to help strengthen the bond of the site adhesive.
Prior to use, we suggest speaking with your physician regarding the adhesive chemical used in Skin Tac, Tegaderm and IV Prep to avoid a potential allergic reaction.

This was so easy and painless idk why I didn't change to these years ago! Feeling really excited for the future with these sets. I woulda been lost without your video though so thankyou again 💙

I found the second disk tape almost always folds on itself to some degree. It's such a pain that I usually just fold the tape inward on all sides so it doesn't stick to the skin anywhere.

I have trouble removing the circular connector cap. I get frustrated trying to do it. Also I have trouble disconnecting when I shower. I don't know if anyone else is having these problems. There have been times when my pump has slipped off my pants and pulled the pump out. I then have to explain to Tandem why I need a replacement. It would be nice to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

Hi! Hopefully you've already found a solution for the disconnecting problem, but even so, maybe it could be helpful to others as well: I found that, when I place it sideways (so when you disconnect, you have to pull the connector left or right to get it loose from your body, instead of up or down), it's easier to disconnect and reconnect. Sideways - for me at least - works definitely better than upwards or downwards. :)
As for the slipping off of pants; I've had that as well... The clip from the standard holster isn't very sturdy and gets bent quite easily, after which it isn't secured on pockets/pants very well... Maybe look for another clip or holster can help? You can find several solutions online.
At the moment I'm wearing it in my pocket, or in a pouch when wearing a dress, but I definitely recognise the problem. ;)
This is really tough one to make another person to understand and give training with minimum knowledge!! Need to find easyway!

These instructional videos do need to be filmed a bit slower and show everything in much more in up-close detail. At the 2:21 mark is says to "skip the fill cannula and LOAD process". While I understand skipping the fill cannula process, I do not understand "skipping the LOAD the process."

Can you please upload more videos for insertion tips for different parts of the body? im new to a tandem pump, and the autosoft 90 kept having issues so im trying trusteel for the fiest time. with the autosoft i had to only insert into my abdomen for it to work properly :( otherwise i love the closed loop system

I’ve been an insulin diabetic for 55 years and yes this company needs to change some things by all means. I’ve had several pumps and this one seems difficult. I’m having trouble with getting the basil rate right

I have been on a Metrinic pump for 15 yrs , just switched to Tandem. I have had a lot of issues with it, not very happy.
My 8 year old has this pump and its been nothing but problems from day one, the pump and the cannulas are by far the worst ive come across the inserter is just flimsy plastic, it does not give enough depth from the needle to the skin in order to inset in the skin, she gets more bent cannulas it sometimes takes 3 cannulas just to get one in proply, they should be able to use the mio advance inserter with this like you can use both on medradonic

@@kellyclark578 Medtronic has literally had so many recalls but why not switch to them? I would never ever go back to them. I feel this pump is too advanced for older or technically illiterate people.

Hi, I have a question! I tried the TruSteel today for the first time, and I noticed that after I had disconnected the pump from the adhesive pad, a piece of air entered the tube between the adhesive pad and the needle, so that I couldn't get rid of it. How can I prevent air from getting inside the piece of tube that stays on me after I disconnected the pump?
Hope that I explained myself. I know air isnt supposed to get inside you, also it may alter the blood sugar.

Why was this done without an insertion tool as with the plastic ones? My daughter who wants to switch to these is deathly afraid of needles and cannot insert it herself. Is there a device available to do this?

I just put my first trusteel in after using the other one for months and the manual needles scares me to death

I may have confused this with something else but is it okay to use for 3 days? I thought I remembered something about only 2 days use for the steel infusion set? is that correct?

recommended by your healthcare provider.
Angelica Jacobs I leave mine in for three days, sometimes four. I am T1D, but the amount of insulin needed to fill tubing is huge and if I change in 3 days, I waste a lot of viable insulin.
@@elizabethbarrington7003 just make sure to space insertion points a good 3 inches apart, to avoid long term skin insensitivity

Tandem pumps use a tubed infusion set which our customer’s a variety of different insertion angles and techniques to let you choose what works for your body. Your infusion set can be worn anywhere on your body where you would normally inject insulin. We recommend you refer to your healthcare provider for infusion site rotation.
I dont get it , why are there 2 inserted devices for this type ?
Hi Mary, are you referring to the second adhesive pad? This is provided for extra security.
Seems who ever designed this did not think about the hassele of of 2 sites. There are a lot of complaints about the XC & 90 inserters. The inserter device is horrible , hard to use , hard to insert correctly. I switched to the Trusteel which is better but needs to be one site inserted not 2 .

@@marymorris8185 the fact that this has two sites is preventing me from using this set on my backside. I get that it is needed so you can disconnect, but it's very inconvenient. Lesser of two evils at the moment though, as the Autosoft 90 sites keep getting infected or blocked (or just fall off). Wish Tandem would just bring back the luer lock, as these infusion sets are seriously making me think my next pump will be a Medtronic again, despite Tandem's many advantages.
@@claudial9479 I gave up on the XC and switched to the Trusteel. Not perfect but it is easier and a lot less problems. Tandem is more diff8cult thsn Metronic , I heard Metronic has lot of law suits but I think Tandem does not have the support that Metronic had.
So whenever I disconnect the pump for a shower or so, should I apply the full tubing step and waste at least 10 units of insulin???
Mohammed Fathy no, you don’t. I was also curious about this and asked that question on a diabetes forum. Everyone agreed on the same answer, which is skipping that cause it’s not necessary and it’s wasteful
@@mrlukster3965 In my case, I ended up running the "Fill Cannula" routine multiple times until I see insulin drops. This leads to much less waste while eliminating the potential gaps.

Try for Medtronic pump
It’s a very good one
I used Medtronic pumps for years, switched to Tandem about a year ago. What I like about the Medtronic over the Tandem is ease of changing infusion sets and filling reservoir. What I did not like about the Medtronic was the CGM had to be calibrated often and almost never lasted the advertised time of 7 days many you were lucky for it to work 6 days. Oh and my A1C is a full point lower with the Tandem than it was with the Medtronic.

These things fucking suck - A type one
Very poorly produced video for for a very poorly designed delivery system for the pump. I am not a troll nor a representative for another pump. Let me explain my position. The video first. [1] It's too short. There is not enough attention given to unpackaging and procedure of holding and manipulating the tubing. The person used in the demo is obviously well practiced and he goes through the motions too quickly for the viewer to understand what he is doing. I was given the TruSteel to try because the plastic cannula on the Autosoft 90 was suspected of being crimped on insertion. I had to figure out how to use it on my own. This video was no help. I called Tech Support because I could see no way to grasp the cannula part in the video.
Without knowing about the "wings" and how to grasp them, I couldn't "pinch up" the skin and insert the cannula so I had to place the point on my skin and push. [2] The delivery system of the Tru Steel could be vastly improved by eliminating that second plastic disconnect and putting the steel cannula in the autosoft 90. The disconnect would not be needed and the 2nd procedure of pumping more insulin through the tubing upon reconnect could be eliminated also. Thanks

Idk how long you've used the steel cannulas but you'll be thankful for that connector when your pump drops or gets snagged and doesnt rip out metal from your body. Source: 10yr diabetic who gets caught on every doorknob.
@@tildian I just put our first trusteel on our 7 year old, was using Autosoft until now. I can see this extra loop on her arm getting caught on things. Any suggestions on keeping the loop against her skin so it doesn't get caught on anything?

Melinda Kovich I would look at tegaderm it a similar product. Thin clear adhesive patch that could hold it down so it doesn’t get snagged.
