Yep, especially since his biggest criticism of her was her lacking lyrical depth/content. I feel like many songs on Sweetener (Get Well Soon, Breathin, GIAW, Better Off) had meaningful or metaphorical lyrics; and now this song, so simple yet so deep and beautiful. And I think more of that is coming on the Thank U Next Album. Btw, I LOVE Ajay's reactions & am subscribed. Just agreeing w/ this sentiment!

Gabriel Lucas she’s also said that the song is about a “beautiful, simple love that is (forever) unattainable”. And that if “thank u, next” was about acceptance of the end of a relationship, this song is about denial.
People have said that this song is her mourning about the death of Malcom, the death of their relationship, and the death of the possibility of ever reigniting that love. And 1) I’m finding that I agree, I think that’s what the song means. And 2) it’s absolutely heartbreaking.

React to OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES by SOPHIE. It got a Grammy nomination for best Dance/Electronic album and it really deserves it. Its experimental as hell and SOPHIE really snapped when she did all the production. It's about her transition to becoming a woman and thematically is beautiful, while also being her first full length album. It's strange, weird, bops, scares you, hypes you up and makes you feel depressed simultaneously. Album of the year for me. I think you would at least appreciate it.
P.S. She also does production for Charli XCX, is currently working with Lady Gaga for LG6 and has done work with Madonna. So she's really talented, but she's not that popular yet so you probably want to get on the wagon now before she blows up.
I wish this song is longer than 3 mins and she belts out the end part. Her voice is soothing here. It gives me a goosebump, especially on that multiple whistles part! I can't wait to watch her perform this song LIVE!
