Thank you all so much for helping the channel reach 250,000 subscribers! Let's celebrate with a...difficult ranking, shall we? Yeah, this was a tough one, and I'm still not totally happy. In the video, I try to separate the Schrift from the Sternritter as best as possible, but I'm not content with the placement of certain powers, like The X-Axis. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts on the ranking in the comments, and how you might change it up - thanks everyone!

      Congratzzz.
Now, about Antithesis vs Ballance placement, while fight between 2 is one eternal uno reverse, overal, Anti is better, and that is if we exclude connection with shield and sword (even tho, i'm almost sure that shield and sword are necesery for ballance, as one absorb and one redistribute)
Reasons why it's better is that user of Ballance can be 1 shotted, there is nothing to redirect if user is not alive to do it, afaik, there is no post mortem Ballance. On the other hand, Anti user reverse events between 2 points, but it's never said you have to experience end result of that event, just to be in event ocural, basicly, if someone shot on a Anti user, anti user can reverse even that event, be it possitions with bullet, or shooter, or even bullet back, who knows, so tehnicly, killing Anti user should be impossible, if he realy wish it.
Other reason is, we saw, in 100% of situations that Ballance turn good fortune in to damage, and just damage, be it person (Cang, Uryu) or object (cage of life). Anti however, can pritty much reverse anything, as long as there is target for it.

Gremmy could straight up create life, including quincys with their own powerful schriffts. Plus he can create more of himself, which while they may require some concentration to maintain, there shouldn't really be a limit to their number (since the copies can create copies).Even assuming he can't just imagine his enemy dead for some reason, he could literally create an opponent or even an army that would be the perfect counter to them. The visionary is limited to spiritual power and how many thoughts the user can hold, and he needed to directly touch his victims in order to perform a fatal attack so he can't randomly just erase characters he hasn't created himself. This is why he promised to challenge kenpachi without using his own hands and only his mind, where he needed to clone himself in order to increase his shrift power to get the comet or the space warp. How many clones he can make is based on how many thoughts he can keep up, I belive Kubo tried to make a philosophical standpoint that imagination is limited (by the user) and it plays so well in to the power system of bleach that despite how broken one ability are it needs spiritual power to be effective. This is the whole reason why Soifon can't go around and double tap anyone if they are immensely strong (like hogyoku Aizen or Gerard) and they needed a hard counter (bg9) focused on just keeping her at bay. Otherwise you are correct if gremmy had grown more mature and stronger he would be almost unstoppable.

EDIT: The novel doesn't state that she *currently has* the ability to use The Love. Only that she ate PePe and at some time (the novel specifies this time to be the battle against Yhwach) she could've used his powers, but refused to do so. It states that at the end she only ate PePe out of retribuition and for replenishing Reiryoku. Since the novel takes place six months later, I'd say that by this time PePe would've already been digested (and I can't believe this to be an actual sentence I just wrote)

Kenpachi during the second invasion demonstrated the ability to cut space so he probably could've cut Nianzol, but the first invasion makes sense.
I think Yhwach didn't account for Kenny's ability to grow stronger mid battle when he sent Lloyd to go with 2 others to jump him.
Nianzol was probably always inside Yhwach's shadow, even in his sleep as his only protector. He was likely with Yhwach when he visited Aizen, so he couldn't find the time to go hunt Zaraki.
I think that's probably the best excuse for his absence throughout the invasions.

    • @corruptangel6793

@@revenantronin8377 Cutting space is nothing in Bleach. Any Soul Reaper "stabs" space in order to open a Senkaimon Gate and Hollows have been able to rip open space to create dimensional rifts (garganta) with their bare claws since chapter 3. Not to mention Grimmjow rending space with his Gran Ray Cero. Gremmy's mistake was thinking that wrapping Kenpachi in the fabric of space would do anything and is a testimont to his inexperience. A result of him being locked away all his life. Technically speaking, any Soul Reaper or hollow (at the very least Base Grimmjow's level and above) would be able to do the same and break out of that.
Nianzol doesn't merely twist space. The construct itself is what twists and bends around him. Anything he instinctively perceives can not touch him and will even split apart to avoid him. If not even the 0 Division can do anything about that power, then it stands to reason Kenpachi couldn't either. Kenpachi's only chance would be to blitz him so utterly that he is cut down because he can even instinctively become aware of Kenpachi. Which is basically how Shutara killed him.
That's a fair excuse. I could see him wearing Nianzol like a suit of armor until he was ready to let loose.
I imagine they messed up the order. The only way they make sense is if Loyd was supposed to go first and hold off Kenpachi while Berenice applied his question, and Kenpachi gradually lost himself to that question. I don't know how Jermome fits in, though. He shouldn't be anywhere near Berenice. Honestly, though, it just doesn't make any sense to send any of them. There are so many others that would have destroyed Kenpachi. Pernida, for example. Besides, Loyd can perfectly copy the enemy's power and abilities. Why the hell wasn't he sent to copy Unohana? As we saw with the Jail is very much possible for the effects or objects created by a schrift to exist after the users death. So Mask still being alive after James dies fits with what the story already established. In order to summon a meteor, Gremmy has to create a duplicate of himself to double his imagination (whatever that means). It seems incredibly unlikely that Gremmy is simply incapable of imagining a meteor by himself, so it only follows that there's some kind of arbitrary "brainpower" component which does function as a limit (albeit a limit that can seemingly be bypassed by cloning yourself lol).

One thing that stands out about these Sternritter abilities in Bleach is just how varied and conceptually extreme they are. Abilities like Le's "X-Axis" aren't just powerful-they bend the fabric of reality itself. I mean, the fact that he erases everything in his line of sight rather than just shooting a bullet is almost absurdly overpowered, not to mention becoming intangible at the same time.
On the other hand, abilities like Gizelle's "The Zombie" are pure nightmare fuel. The idea of using her own blood to enslave both living and dead beings, even Shinigami, is chilling. It's a gruesome, manipulative power that adds a horror element to the series, which makes her one of the more unsettling characters in the Sternritter.
To be honest, the power scaling in Bleach is wild at times-abilities like these make you wonder how any of the Shinigami even stood a chance without pulling off near-impossible feats of their own. It's this constant one-upmanship in abilities that gives Bleach its intensity, but also sometimes leaves you questioning how balanced these powers really are.

Another point for The Zombie being in this list that I don’t see people realise is that it worked on the Vizard; that on it’s own means that Giselle’s power - at least to some degree - also works on Hollows as it isn’t just instantly negated.
With the Corpse Unit Arrancar, it’s unclear if their immunity to zombification is due to them already being dead, or due to being more Hollow than Shinigami, so it’s an interesting asterisk at the end of her abilities.

I think when discussing how powerful characters / habilities are in fiction, people frequently forget that not everything works like in real life, or real life like logic. More important than "realistic" logic, are the fictional universe "rules" (explicitly laid or not) that the author establishes.
Why I am saying this? Because more important than a face value assumption of "imagination can do everything" (wich risks producing assumptions that aren't really supported by the source material, as I've been seing a lot in many discussions like this), is analising what the characters actually did on panel, or statments that aren't too much "vague" (like, the previously mentioned before "imagination can do everything"). This is important, because we don't have a... uh... real life equivalent to compare to, so we have to "trust" what Kubo says about how this power works.
For example, does the Visionary can make things that Grammy don't understand? Like, could he create a beast bigger than the universe, even if he probably doesn't know how big it is? Could he imagine a square ball, a 4th dimensional object, something completely invulnerable to any harm, rewrite past events (like his own death) or reality warping powers beyond the Allmight? Does even imagining something vague and absolute as "I am invencible" count as imagining something?
Everything we saw in the source corroborates that no, and I will argue that it isn't by "incompetence" of him, because even imagination, as an specific person capacity, has limits. When we, in real life, create histories with these elements (and others even more unknowable), we usually use tricks to pretend those things somehow make sense (like the classic "the gods have human form because that's what we understand from their unknowable forms, not because they are literally humanoid").

    The Superstar possibilities:
    - Mask's real name is James, and the little guy is the power externalized; whether that's him shedding weakness or just using the bare minimum to set up a cheerleader
    - James was originally a normal guy, but whenever Mask revives him he gets smaller, weaker, and weirder
    - They're the same person split into multiple reishi bodies; each is The Superstar and each can use reishi manipulation to boost the other's power; this version would theoretically allow James to gain power on par with Mask's for a surprise attack

It is a pretty physical ability that deals with tangible concepts like lethal dose but then it throws that away into a pit of "F you" because what the hell is a lethal dose of reiatsu. And if you think that the balance & antithesis can’t reflect the actual power of the X-axis back at the user, it’s number 2 for me. It’s truly broken and outside of the Almighty, Visionary, & like I said before MAYBE the balance/antithesis, and Lisa’s sword it has no counters and no downsides whatsoever. Immortality, invulnerability, and attacks that can not be blocked/dodged is stupid overpowered. A common misunderstanding about Gremmy's Visionary is that it isn't as OP as it sounds on paper. Don't get me wrong it's still ridiculously strong and has the biggest potential to fodderize most enemies, but that's almost all it can do. It's biggest flaw is it's actual limitations. His ACTUAL power isn''t unrestricted imagination like most would believe but requires focus and concentration for it's effects to apply. Where it starts to scale off hard is how those limitations can be bypassed by higher tier characters in the story. (Like how Zaraki can shrug off most of his imagination through sheer brute force and Yachiru's cookie bones got undone by breaking Gremmy's concentration)
He isn't capable of power-nulling or instant death (maybe to fodder characters), and the literal reason why he died was because his power isn't completely limitless. He gets off-scaled pretty hard by the higher tiered sternritters because the Elite-SS's powers have no restrictions unlike Gremmy's, even if they are less diverse and destructive. For example you can get around Gremmy through sheer force and breaking his focus, but their is absolutely no way to get through Gerald or Haschwalth's abilities.
That being said tho, it's still one of the absolute strongest hax abilities in Bleach, it's just that it isn't some kind of deus ex machina reality warping ability most would like to believe.

    2. This removes the normal human ability to plan ahead and make contingencies against possible failures because even considering those possibilities causes them to come true.

I always imagined that the Visionary do have limits even if it is not stated by Grammy himself. As you point out it would simply not be an arc if he could just imagine victory over all the captains in a second and the fight is over. I do not know what Kubo had in mind when balancing this ability but the thing is that even if Grammy is lacking the mind to one-hit the Gote 13, Yhwach(or someone else for that matter) could have just told him to imagine it and the fight is over. It is my headcanon that the Visionary do have limits but Grammy do not want you do know it as the ability is way more frightening that way and if you give in to the 'lies' you would most likely just give up the fight givning him and easy victory. It is either that or Kubo just had a brain fart at the moment, happens to the best of us.
Also, love you channel. Keep it up!

The X-Axis is my favorite Schrift in the series.
Lille’s Reishi weapon, Diagramm is a reference to diagrams on xy-coordinate planes. The holes formed in an object are a point “drawn” along the x-axis.
Not only that, but it also represents Lille’s zealotry. His ultimate attack Trumpet, is a possible reference to how the Day of Resurrection shall begin according to the Islamic Faith, an angel blowing a trumpet that signals the end of this world and our arrival in the next.

    #Suggestion
Do a Top 5 most broken Fullbrings, I'd like to see where you rank certain Fullbrings, and even though technically Aura Michibane doesn't necessarily have a "power", her mastery of "basic" Fullbringer abilities is basically a Fullbring in itself... So I'd like to see where her Fullbring places in the top 5.
    My List;
    >Shun Shun Rikka
    >Book Of The End
    >Aura Fullbring
    >Digital Radial Invaders/Invaders Must Die
    >Cross of Scaffold.
By the way, we are only ranking the Fullbrings and not the Fullbringers (NOTE).

"Weird alien-like creature" is an apt description of most of the Sternritter. The Quincy's were always supposed to represent humans, but a lot of them just...aren't. They had been sympathetic (hunted by the Soul Reapers and all), but this arc made most of them into monsters. I didn't care much for it overall. The anime is good though.

I feel a good way to resolve this would have been spotlighting Souken's faction and introducing a few survivors who don't buy into Ywach's BS. I hope the anime at least gives Uryuu and Ryuuken larger roles in all of this to at least partially do that.

As soon as you said, you're gonna separate the character from the shrift. I knew Grammy was gonna be #1. I would also put the antithesis lower because if he gets one shot, buy the x-axis, then he can't use it.

  • @yami122

With the death dealing I find it interesting how the powers rules seem to have changed
at first it was he ingests something and then he makes it toxic for his opponent for example if he drinks blood then blood becomes toxic to his opponents it doesn't even have to be his opponent's blood he drinks
but later it becomes he becomes immune to the things he devours but he doesn't seem to necessarily be making that thing he ingested toxic to his opponents and instead this seems to create a generic zone of toxicity Where anyone within range is gonna start dying other than himself
Also on just a little side note I found it is interesting that the character had a change in design slightly from its first appearance which had a much more of a fat Elvis Like appearance before later becoming a much slimmer face
On his character I also notice that he was one of the only sternritter Who didn't try to Backstab And compete over who would get to kill Ichigo Because everyone was trying to get promoted to the Royal Guard or otherwise Rewarded
Which I always found interesting the idea that anyone would expect to be promoted to a royal guard by performing any action that involves backstabbing one's own teammates i'm pretty sure their king doesn't want royal guards who backstab each other for personal glory he wants individuals who are going to work as a unit and work only for him not themselves
which ironically out of all the remaining sternritter he was the only one who didn't participate in that fight and thus was the only one promoted because the showed loyalty

I like to think Uryu and Judgram are both successors of Yhwach. Because judgram is a half of yhwach and antithesis can rival almighty and it never made sense to me how uryu and judgram have the same power but uryu is the successor. I thought the reason why is because the balanced had limitations but antithesis has none

Do a video on Aizen and his Espada army vs Yhwach and his sternritters. I think the quincy are definitely the better group but with the type advantage aizens crew has it might be closer than we think. It was only til after the war that the remaining quincy are immune to hollow powers. With aizen trancending himself with some hollow like powes on top of his kyoka suigetsu he can probably challenge yhwach before the soul king absorption. So this hypothetical battle would be there is no ichigo and aizen just wins against the shinigami, lets just thanos them for the sake of this battle. Aizen returns to soul society with his oken and tries to go up to the palace and face the zero division but right before hand yhwach returns and invades. Aizen group vs ywach group on soul society grounds.

I've really come around to this arc after listening to you talk about it for so long. However, this list just reminds me of why I didn't like it nearly as much as any other arc, and still am not very big on: the purely massively beneficial abilities on supposedly human enemies who have somehow existed for 1000 years. The power scale and my sense of disbelief were completely thrown off a cliff with back to back to back to back abilities that do insane things simply because the plot needs more powerful villains.

If you don't count the Stern Ritter and solely focus on the scrift itself then the Visionary is by far the #1. Unless you count Haschwalt's almighty as well. The Schutzstaffels are strong but the visionary can imagine everything that defeated them such as the god killing sword that killed Lillie. If used by someone as devious as Aizen I can see the Visionary even competing with Yhwach.

The Antithesis is broken in terms of story logic. If it can really exchange between people and objects at will as suggested with what anime shows then someone inteligent like Uryu would just cut some rock in half and make it happen to Haschwalth killing him immidietly. Beside that it is really broken holden back immensly by being attached to Uryu similar to Gremmy - without taking it into an acount Uryu is just not strong enough to not be killed in one shot by many of strong characters either immidietly or after using anthihesis once on them and then failing to finish them before they manage to focus enough to kill him.

My favorite is definitely The Zombie, because by a strategic point of view it is the best Shrift to support an army since it not only allows to constantly replenish lost soldiers but constantly heal alive ones while turning dead enemies into allies, and with an immortal commander its not as easy as simple killing the head.
The Zombie in a different series could easily have been one of the strongest and scariest abilities, and although it still is in Bleach Mayuri's ability to produce an antidote so quickly undermines how devastating it could be, and perhaps thats the reason Kubo had to cut it short, because of how scary it is, it and the glutton are 2 smaller abilities that snowball into the realm of absurdity

The Miracle vs the Balance is such an interesting matchup because it puts in question the limit of either ability. Could it be that they would simply be stuck in an endless loop of the miracle granting Gerard fortune and Jugram reversing it with Balance? Both abilities were just so obscenely overpowered when considering to what degree they seemed to function
