- Welcome to Codenames! We're split up into two teams and have to guess our "secret" words before the opposing team. Each team has a spymaster who can see the entire board. The spymaster comes up with a word or phrase that can link as many correct words together as possible WITHOUT linking the opposing team's words. And if the gray word is chosen by either team, it's game over. Super fun game. I love being spymaster and losing my mind listening to my teammates figuring it out lol. Feels very much like being dead in Among Us and shouting at my computer monitor. Enjoy!

the difference between a Myth and Fiction is actually very simple to explain:
a Myth is something that people actually believe, something people thought ACTUALLY existed in Real Life.. and rooted in some form of Facts, its not inherently a false belief, but it is not entirely a true belief. While the Root of all Myths are found in some Truth, Myths tend to exaggerate these quite significantly.
Fiction is something that is completely made up, that is not actually thought to have exist or to exist in real Life. It has no base in Facts and you can easily take it appart with facts. as such, any normal person doesnt believe in it.
a good example are Griffons, they are considered Mythical Creatures and many Tales speak of such creatures actually having existed in the World, Milennia ago.
On the Other hand, a Jabberslythe is a completely Fictional Creature, not something that was believed to exist in Mythology as it was only ever invented when the Warhammer Table Top RPGs came out.
Dragons are a common mythological creature across cultures. Likely because of dinosaur fossils.
I feel like I'm going crazy, when I took mythology in college the one thing that our professor kept stressing the entire semester was that MYTHS ARE TRUTHS to certain people, that's what makes them myths! Kara is wrong, jxckk is right, I wanna scream lmao
Myths are much like the theories of the history realm. Only time can prove if they're true or false.
All religions and folklore are myths, because we simply cannot disprove or prove them. You can make logical assumptions, but that's not disproving anything. That's just showing why they're like theories, which science is always ALWAYS arguing over and testing. They are widely held beliefs that can't be 100% proven or detested, but can be logically asserted as true.
Kara is usually wrong. Everyone agrees with her because she won’t shut up about it otherwise.

Well, to be fair to them, myth is also a literary genre concerning itself with heroes and the like using real or fake information webbed into a story to usually teach some kind of lesson, so they're not too far disconnected with reality with blurring the lines in fantasy. Still, though, there are distinctions that separate them.
I also understand myth to be a story connected to the common culture. So while Random Fantasy Novel is fiction, LotR is part of our mythology.
From what I have learned, and watched, was that the Aztecs were very advanced than other tribes. They have the Aztec calendar, they predicted men in suits, they also sacrificed to their GODs for better life (I think)... there is a plethora of things that the Aztecs have done and it is fascinating. They found little statues that the Aztec tribes made of a man in a space suit. Always a good thing look learn.

When I think of myths I automatically think of all religions, the Aztec pantheon of gods would fall under that immediately. Vampires and Santa would fall more under “folklore” as they’re more specific local tales although you can group them in with myths/mythology. Then you have the definition which is just a false belief, often widely held. Like some traditional therapies and medical practices. Or something like a certain sex position not getting you pregnant.
When Kara tries to act smart and state definitions, but she's just reading the dictionary definition and pretending its her own explanation xD

A myth is something thought to be true, fiction is understood to be made up.

I think the primary difference between a myth and any piece of modern fiction is that myths and legends historically were supposed to be explanations for what was once inexplicable in an age that lacked the scientific knowledge we know of now. They "explained" the origins of the world around us and the reasons for natural disasters. There's also a measure of faith and reverence to them, yes, because many of those at the time, were and still are GENUINELY revered.
Meanwhile a standard work of fiction is primarily meant for entertainment purposes. To tell a story, build a world or an escape as opposed to trying to apply it to the real world. Fictitious works are written with the knowledge of both the reader and the audience that it isn't real. It can be inspired by reality, but isn't meant to really be taken as truth in the ways myths were at their conception.
TL;DR: Myths were made to explain how the world works before science, stories were made to be enjoyed as something detached from reality. Or at least that's what I recall from my incomplete writing degree

Welsh last names are different, welsh people didnt have last names, they used to go by which farm they were from like "Betty Llwyncadfor" but then they were forced to take last names when someone invaded (cant remember which invasion though but it was the one that tried to wipe out the welsh language) so they just took english first names which is why theres a lot of Evans and Jones and James' in wales because it was their way of rebelling... at least thats what i have been told.....

Myths have some basis in reality like unicorns were most likely rhinos, beings likes Samson and Heracles where most likely same super strong guy (someone who seemed very strong for the average person, heck even strong compared 2 other strong ppl), the Gods were just madeup 2 make things easier 2 understand for ppl back when like why storms happen and such. Sea lions were once described as fish with lion head, so they draw a fish with a lion head. Giants ants where just bigger than normal sized ants, but how they were talked aboot made in at leas human size giants.

This was such a fun Codenames session! It’s always so interesting to see how people connect words with other words, and how they can be influenced by current events or games. I did feel for Ari when everyone pressured her to click something, and I can see why she was thinking of Shark thanks to the recent Raft streams, and for X33n, because turkey made sense to me as well. The snail/slug conversation was another example of that, since I can see what Skadj was going for there despite disagreeing myself, lol.
Watching Ze stress out yet again as his clues are misunderstood is still so funny (even though I feel bad about doing so, lol). The clues seemed pretty strong and I agree that myths are very different from more traditional works of fiction. Poor Pjonk though, she definitely panicked at the end, but I’m glad she still gave a great effort as Ze’s opposition!
I won’t lie, the Taxidermy clue had me slightly worried in the following round, but thankfully Ari is not as morbid as I am, lol. I enjoyed the kawaii/kiwi discussion and Pjonk yelling for Siri to shut up also cracked me up! Then pants being the bomb when everyone wanted to click it was amazing-if only Ze had been more forceful about it, lol. I don’t even know what to say about that following round, what with X33n’s frustration and Pjonk’s entire Pjonk-ness, lol. I did enjoy the discussion about last names being taken from professions in olden times and Skadj getting roasted about what Alaska lacks. XD
My favorite clue was the Among Us one, and I loved how the V stood for Vikram, the Greatest of All Time, Number 1 Among Us player! Truly that is the lesson to take away from all of this-never doubt Vikram!

I had a college professor who had a kickout question on every test. It was essentially so easy that if you got it wrong He would kick you out of the class. 1 of them was what is STP?
