- bit.ly/mastergtr Slapback delay is a great effect that you can use in not only country and rockabilly music, but also for a lead tone.
In this Q & A, I show you how I use slap back delay in 2 different ways, and I'll share with you the settings I use.
Send me a question for the next Q & A! - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
This strat tone is amazing.
Robert, is it ok if I set delay to 130 ms instead of 129m?
+Igor Mitic No, that's forbidden
It's dangerous to do that - I wouldn't if I were you.
Igor Mitic At 130, you may get arrested so please be careful.
It's probably an indication of how broken I am, but this is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
130?? Are you crazy???
Thanks so much hard to find good delay help like you gave. 🙏🏻 thanks
Great detail, thank you for this!
Hi! Thanks Robert!
Well done🎯
thanks, it is very helpful lesson
Rahther helpful. Thank you so kindly
Thanks!
Thank you!
any chance of getting your saved "Bundle" file from your Line POD HD500? I have one, would probably save me a lot of time :)
what are different echo wiht delay
How do you where the numbers are if there are none on the delay. Example 129 ms is where on the knob?
I really love your tone. What chain are you using in the hd500
I haven’t used this in a few years so I can’t remember, sorry.
Robert how can I get a nice spacious delay/reverb tone a la Scott Henderson on his LiVE trio double cd I know he uses a boss se-70 unit but can I get same effect using a delay or reverb pedal to add atmosphere
Beeastman123 Yes, you just need delay. I think he sets it to 450ms.
Since it's so short with country and your lead one, do you think it makes much of a difference if it's digital or analog?
No I don’t think so.

Now this video is on infinite repeat!
Sir,please tell me some stuffs on delay time in ambient guitar music.
Slapback for ambient?I thought you should use the maximum delay time for that style, but who knows people come up with different ideas all the time.
At 4:40 you played some outside notes. What scale are you using here?
Da Guvna diminished
@@Dolphinstreets thanks!
thanks
not 128ms or 130ms, only 129ms.
Do you have the patches for this tone???
Sorry no
nice tone, greezy greezy
Thanks for listening
Robert can I do it with 90-100ms delay, but on a stereo delay? So it will ping-pong left to right.
Try it and see? Personally, I prefer a mono delay around 120-130 ms.
04/26/2023: I want slap-back Rockabilly, and Country Twang. Is there a pedal under $100.00 that also just has the delay and no echo/reverb?
Buy a second hand MXR Carbon Copy.
You look a bit like David Yow from The Jesus Lizard :) Cool lesson btw!
what delay do you use?
Line 6 HD500
robert ,great as always, what model of delay from pod did you use?
Digital Delay
what delay pedal are you using ?
Line 6 HD300 I think it was.
Thanks I was wondering how the hell to set a delay pedal up lmao
Seems odd that in describing slapback so precisely, you dont mention the reverb that was always present?
The reverb you are hearing is the delay ..
Without the slapback has reverb - could be the room?
@@ernielamprell4532 yeah there is a small amount probably.
But why talk about reverb when the topic was delay?
@@ryans9029 Because it is an ingredient which sometimes enhances echoes. Echoes in themselves have several nuances which can affect sound. So it would have been nice to understand echo/reverb wise how the effect was achieved. Also, now you are implying that reverb was present, whereas previously you said it was not. I need no response as the above should answer your question.
@@ernielamprell4532 yes. I put head phones on.. and can hear light reverb in his base tone.. or natural room reverb possibly. Possibly address in post even.
I find zero issue in focusing on the delay.. He walked through the delay.. no delay and settings pretty clearly...
I see you like contention. Carry on.
about 129ms XD this guy
I'm sorry but everything you played sounded better without the effect on.
