    Y’know something…it’s amazing how the Nintendo DS is capable of remaking some specific and surprising n64 remade games into a portable device. And making new fresh and original 3D games that were surprisingly interesting like Metroid prime hunter

      @@nguyengamer7906 True, I never claimed it did. I just noted that DS was a fairly weak system when it released. It's capabilities and games were weaker than Ps1. Sorta like Ps0.8 or N60. Heck, it couldn't properly run Rayman 2. Meanwhile Psp could be called (powerwise) Ps1.7 as many games were close to their Ps2 counterparts

    I've played this game so many times. Had both the ps1 disc and the n64 cartridge. The art style holds up as well as the wind waker one, it will never look bad.

      @thorwilhelms9635 DS version is both i recently played it. You cant hardly go a minute without texture issues and the frames dropping into sub 10s. 3Ds has a horrible audio and animation issues. Lags constantly and has broken textures. Both are horrible versions but DS is the worst.

      3ds one is based on the ps2 version.
      The dreamcast has the same models as the n64/ps1 version.

    • @WllKiedSnake
      @WllKiedSnake ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Richter WLK It's not based on the PS2 version as the level select screen isn't a open hub like on PS2. It's like the Dreamcast one. And it also has the level layout of the Dreamcast and voice work. PS2 has people voicing the characters, Dreamcast has gibberish and so does the 3ds have gibberish language. Dreamcast had higher quality textures, environments and character models. These are what were used in the 3ds port.

    • @Rihcterwilker
      @Rihcterwilker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WllKiedSnake every rayman game on a nintendo console will be based on rayman 2 for the n64 (which you would call the "not-voiced" versions). What they did for the 3ds version and future releases was use the models/shaders from the ps2 version.
      Go back and check the dreamcast one to see how polygonal rayman's nose looks and compare it to the 3ds.

    • @WllKiedSnake

    If you remove the enhancements, the DS Version is pretty ugly along with a choppy frame rate.

    • @granvillimus
      @granvillimus ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, the DS version runs like garbage. It'll drop as low as 5fps while running up against a wall and shooting energy balls. Collision detection is also botched, you can easily get stuck and fall through the floor. Worse still, the input lag is horrendous. It's based on the N64 version, which had its own share of framerate drops common to that system, but the DS version is far worse. Texture quality took a massive hit too. DS already lacks the ability to filter textures, but a ton of the textures were also made lower resolution on top of this. It's a horrible port. Even the considerably stripped back and abbreviated PS1 version is arguably preferable.
      The 3DS version also runs really poor considering it's an almost exact port of the Dreamcast version, and on substantially better hardware. The DC version runs at a silky smooth locked 60fps throughout (except for the level select). 3DS version doesn't dip quite as low as the DS version, but it still rarely manages to hit 60fps, usually only managing to reach into the 40s at most and frequently dips below 30 and even 20. Controls and collision is fine at least, though there are a lot of visual and audio glitches and they removed a bunch of the lighting effects.

  • @vanessanessa2761

    Rayman DS is a very awful ds port and i going to talk, why this port sucks.
    1. Minor false advertising: This is a port of Rayman 2, yet Rayman's modern design (from Rayman 3 and onwards) is used on the front of the cover.
    2. It doesn't offer anything new to the table aside from the new touch controls.
    3. As stated above, there are multiple technical issues, with two examples being the encounter with Umber and in the flower ride in the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, where Rayman can slip off, even during Umber's cinematic, and the giant spider at the beginning of the Tomb of the Ancients will disappear a few seconds after the cutscene in which it first appears.
    4. The graphics aren't touched up on, which makes the game appear dated.
    5. The textures are much more jagged due to the DS lacking a texture filtering system (the textures themselves are unchanged, however).
    6. You can only change Rayman's speed by using the touch screen controls.

      Both versions are bad in their own way. The 3DS version is missing lighting completely along with other effects, and still runs like shit (when the Dreamcast version ran at 60 FPS at all times). Not to mention the 1000th lum is inaccessible without using glitches because the spiderweb trampoline does not work properly, and even when you do access it the game will softlock and you will have to exit the level.

      @@EuroMIX2 Bad programming, that's how. Yes the 3DS version is indeed based on the Dreamcast version, but it's a graphically-downgraded, choppy, shitty port, when the 3DS could have done much better as it's a bit more powerful than the Dreamcast (but not as powerful as the PS2).

      Yes, the 3DS is back compatible with original DS games. They'll appear a bit blurrier since the 3DS scales them up to fit the higher res screen, though you can also hold the start button while booting the DS games and it will run it in a smaller window without the blur.
