Our FAVORITE Night Market in CHIANG MAI | Thailand Travel Vlog

  • Night markets have to be one of the most quintessential Thai experiences, so, on our last day, we of course had to go to one!
The Chiang Mai Saturday night market (Wua Lai Walking Street) is one of, if not the most, famous night markets in the city - and we can see why! During market hours, the streets are completely closed for what feels like miles, with side streets jutting off from the main to house even more stalls. Here you can find everything you need from souvenir Thai flags to huge varieties of clothes.
The main reason we came, though, was the food! Night markets provide a unique way to experience Thai cuisine because they have such a variety of stalls, each with their own take on many of Thailand's amazing culinary delights. You can easily spend a whole night getting samples from each stall and come back full - all while not breaking your budget.
This night turned into something of a "best-of" tour because it was our last night before heading to Malaysia, and we wanted one last taste of the foods we fell in love with in Thailand.
The night started healthy with a fresh mango smoothie. Mango anything in Thailand is just different and the best way to taste it - in our opinion - is to slurp one down while roaming the hundreds of night market stalls. From there, we proceeded to try a lot of satay, or meat skewers, which came to be one of our favorite snacks. The next part of our multi-course dinner consisted of some pork rice which is, deservingly, a staple of many night markets. Finally, we got some sweets in the form of the famous mango sticky rice (which needs no introduction!) and fried coconut milk balls. The coconut balls were discovered on accident (the best way to discover food in Thailand - or anywhere for that matter) and we ended up having them at every market we could find them. They have a soft fried outer shell and the inside is the creamiest coconut milk you'll try. They're truly addicting.
We wouldn't have had this last night in Thailand any other way 🙂
